Chapter 138: Special Day (E)
Jin was currently inside his mental shooting range and was practising his shooting skills.
It looked like an underground basement with five shooting stalls. Jin was currently in the second stall, which had a board with a human shape drawn on it. It was placed 100 meters from Jin.
Jin aimed the barrel of his beretta a little above the target's head and fired.
Bang!
The bullet zipped through the air and penetrated the target's head right in the middle.
A smile appeared on Jin's face when he saw that.
His skills had deteriorated after returning from his trip. It was only now that he had practised until it was four in the evening that he could match his previous self.
Jin soon exited the mental range. The first thing he did after that was to open the system store to get the necessary items.

Jin re-equipped his inventory and bought a few more cartridges, followed by painkillers and a few fentanyl syringes.
Even though Jin had only 4 inventory spaces, upon experimenting, he later found out that he could stack 10 items of the same kind in a single space, however, it was not possible for different items.
With this done, Jin's attention then shifted to his Stat Panel, which had been bothering him for a while.

[A/N: Stat panel was last shown in Chapter 110]
His body constitution has decreased.
It was understandable because he was not keeping up with his regular exercise schedule when he was out for filming, but what he couldn't understand was the rise in his mental constitution.
It rarely rose, but this time it had jumped so much.
'Just what triggered it? I don't remember facing something that would have impacted me mentally, though.' Jin thought.
A while later, Jin's attention was attracted by something he hadn't noticed before. It made him open up his phone to check the date.
26/05/2025
Today was Jin's birthday, and he had just turned 23 years old.
He had never celebrated his birthday after his parents' demise, so this day didn't hold much significance for him.
At least until that day the fragments of which flashed through his mind.
Jin's head was resting on someone's lap. The other person's delicate fingers ruffled through his hair and played with his scalp.
Jin enjoyed the sensation and opened his eyes only to be welcomed by the loving gaze of Diana.
'Your birthday's on 26th May, right, Jinny?' She asked lovingly.
'Yes, are you planning for my gift?' Jin grinned while asking.
'Of course I am,' Diana said, "and just you wait, it will be a gift you'll never forget' Diana pinched Jin's nose afterwards, making him get up from her lap.
Jin retaliated by tickling Diana all over as sounds of laughter surrounded the room.
The three-second-long flashback made Jin feel both nostalgic and guilty.
However, that feeling didn't last long.
Fana's enchanting face soon replaced Diana's in his mind and made his aching heart feel better, or so it seemed.
A while later, he reached for his phone.
"She still hasn't called back." A frown appeared on Jin's face when he saw that.
He had promised Fana that he would cleanly break things off with Diana within a few days, so seeing that he had not received any response from Diana, he felt a bit vexed.
Jin pushed himself off the bed the next moment and went towards the refrigerator to drink some cold water.
While he was quenching his thirst, his phone started ringing.
'Finally, she called! I hope things will be sorted out between us without much of an issue,' Jin put the bottle down and reached for the phone in his pocket.
However, when he saw the call ID, he saw Fana's name instead.
Jin shook his head with a chuckle and connected the call the next moment.
"I missed you sooo much," Fana's energetic voice made a smile appear on Jin's face.
"I missed you too, my love. How about it? Wanna meet?" Jin asked.
"I want to, but I'm taking care of something important right now, and while doing that, I faced a problem and thought of asking you for help," Fana said worriedly.
"Hm? What is it?" Sensing the hint of worry in her tone, Jin asked with a slight frown.
"You know my finances are not very good because of my previous films that flopped, right?" Fana asked Jin.
"Yes, I know. Do you need help with money?" Jin interpreted her words and asked.
"Gosh! I'm so embarrassed, but that is indeed the case. I'm with my designer right now, and she gave me some dresses to try, which would suit me when I accompany you to the LIFA awards, but they are a little expensive. I know I shouldn't be asking you for money like this, but I don't want to look shabby walking next to you there…" Fana said uncomfortably.
Hearing her, Jin interrupted and said, "Shabby? Come on, Fana, you look beautiful in whatever dress you wear, so you shouldn't say things like that."
"I feel the same for you, Jin, because I love you, but the media doesn't care. They will end up making several articles disparaging me for not wearing expensive clothes at LIFA. I don't mind if it's just me, but since we're together, your image will also get spoiled…" Fana said, frustratingly.
"You truly care so much for me. Sorry, I was a bit shortsighted there. How much money do you need?" Jin asked after giving her words a thought.
"Not much, it's only 5 million Draks, you can surely help me with that, right?" Fana asked expectantly.
"5 million Draks, isn't that quite a lot?" Jin couldn't help but ask.
"It's too much, right? I shouldn't have asked you, I'm really sorry. I'll just choose something cheape-" Fana said gloomily while waiting for Jin to interrupt her in between, and that's what he did.
"No, I don't mean it like that. I'll surely help you, but it's just that I've never heard of clothes this expensive…" Jin immediately replied, not wanting to hurt Fana's feelings.
"Since you've never been to an award show yet, it's natural that you don't know. The actors wear dresses costing millions of dollars, and spending millions of Draks on dresses is quite normal for them," Fana paused and continued, "On that note…you haven't chosen what you're going to wear at LIFA, right? How about I ask my designer to recommend clothes for you, too? Oh wait! We can even wear a matching design!"
"A matching design?" Jin asked.
"Yes! Just imagine us two sitting together in the same designer clothes, looking like a match made in heaven! Won't that be a very memorable experience?
We might even stand out as the best couple out there and attract the envious gazes of everyone…just thinking about it fills me with joy. Don't you feel the same?" Fana asked excitedly.
"Y-yes, it sounds like a fantastic idea, let's do that then," Jin wasn't interested at first but sensing how excited Fana was, he decided to agree to that idea.
"Great! I'll send my designer back now and tomorrow the two of us will visit her studio for measurements and to decide on a design," Fana said.
"Sure, sounds great to me," Jin agreed.
"See you tomorrow then, Ba-Bye love you," Fana cheerily replied and disconnected the call.
With this done, Jin once again tried to call Diana, only to get the same automated message from his device.
'I'll just go and give her a visit,' Jin could wait no longer and went out of the hotel after getting ready.
A while later, he parked his car just outside Diana's apartment building and made his way towards it.
"Huh? Even the outer door gate is locked? She never locks the outer steel door… did she go somewhere?" Jin muttered to himself in confusion.
He turned towards the neighbouring door and rang the bell.
An old lady opened the door a few moments later.
"Good evening, ma'am, I'm Diana's…friend. I came here to visit her, but her door was locked. By any chance, do you know where she went?" Jin asked the old lady.
The old lady scrutinised for a second and, after concluding in her mind that Jin didn't look like a shady individual, she finally answered, "Oh, that child? She left the country for work yesterday. She even gave me an apple pie before leaving, even though I kept refusing her. Isn't she sweet? I hope she works a lot there and earns a lot of money. I've heard…"
Jin's mind went blank the moment he heard the lady's first sentence.
'She left the…country?' An incredulous expression appeared on his face which was accompanied by a stinging feeling in his chest and the following words escaped his mouth immediately, "Why…? Why did she leave?"
What do you think?
