Chapter 733 733: Overpowered by a Support
In the outdoor conference hall adorned with golden vines and sacred blossoms, Lifa presided over a crucial high-level conference. The gathered Gods, rulers, and leaders of various factions assembled to discuss more about the world's future.
Vrelenia was currently encased in a potent world barrier to disguise the world from outer space as an ordinary, uninteresting planet. It also prevented unwanted invaders from entering this world during this recovery period.
The barrier had been strengthened, and it would provide thousands of years of peaceful time for the Vrelenians to develop to the point where they would be able to repel and eliminate any monsters that might invade the world again.
The discussions had been intense and thorough. It started with effective strategies and preparations to handle the cursed creatures in case some would emerge in the future.
Lifa then assigned the guardians to ensure the world's safety.
Similar to the other representative they had visited, Elysia distributed warm gifts to the leaders present at this conference. Other than food and elixir, some boxes were filled with divine blessings, talismans, charms, amulets, and holy relics to aid the allied forces.
The Sky Library was chosen as the faction to oversee the world and many realms within, serving as the world's leader and guardian. Since Sky Library has three factions, the Sky God, Ice God, and Divine Church would share this responsibility.
After hours of deliberation, Elysium Pantheon reached a resolution, and the meeting was concluded.
The conference was over, and the picnic awaited afterward, replacing the solemn meeting with a joyous event. Rows of buffets were served for everyone, presenting a wide variety of high-quality delicacies that were both delicious and could boost their cultivation.
Just as Elysia and her family members talked about their departure, several latecomers just arrived, breathless and apologetic.
"I deeply regret my delay!" The Sea God spoke with an apologetic expression. "Has the conference already ended?"
"Hum." Lifa nodded but remained composed and graceful. Elysia was currently lying with her lap as a pillow, and she was reluctant to move to the latecomers.
"Yes, the discussion has concluded. However, you must still be informed. Our world guardians will explain the results to you." Rhea pointed to the Sky God and Ice God.
"That damned thing! Am I late?" The Evil God emerged out of thin air, exuding a suppressive aura but he retracted it immediately. He was stunned to see there was no more meeting, just a festive buffed party. "Is the gathering over already?"
"Oh, right. Luckily, you're not too late or you'll miss this great opportunity." Sky God beckoned the Sea God and the Evil God to come down.
He and Ice God then shared the details with their old friends and whispered the benefits of the upcoming tasks. More than anything else, they hinted about the gifts, including the freebies and divine artifacts. So, the latecomers should try to ask for it at Elysium Pantheon.
"It won't do. It won't work. The world's guardians shouldn't be given to you because you are still very weak." The Evil God frowned, shaking his head in disapproval.
"Then, are you the better candidate? You can do nothing but destroy." The Ice God scowled.
"I can't deny it." The Evil God rubbed his chin because it was absolutely correct.
"We should ask for the Goddesses for enlightenment. They might have other assignments for us." The Sea God rubbed his palms, eager to inquire about it and ask for the mentioned gifts. Everyone got the favor, so he should receive it as well!
With that said, the Sea God and the Evil God went to meet the Goddesses of the Elysium Pantheon.
"Hey." The Evil God had just opened his mouth, but he was captivated when he realized the pantheon members looked much more charming and stunning than the last time they met. Elysia and her guardian, the Sun Goddess, were the brightest than anyone else and he couldn't take his eyes off them.
"Where are you looking? Keep your gaze polite." Rhea stood before the Evil God.
"Keke, don't mind him. He is an eternal virgin with no gentlemanly manner. My sea cleansing task is almost over, but I don't know how I will fit into your grand world's plan. Please enlighten me." The Sea God smiled kindly, but he was eager to receive his parts.
"?!" The Evil God regained his composure, feeling somewhat offended by the Sea God's remark. However, he kept silent for now.
"Hmm..." Rhea thought about it, but she had yet to receive any assignments and duties for these two latecomers. After all, her mother, Lifa, was the one who thought about everything in this gathering.
"I think, Xero would be the most suitable as this world's Divine Executioner. As for Oceanid, he will be responsible for anything that happens in the ocean, including any anomalies and abnormalities. You see, we lack forces with power in the sea right now." Elysia propelled her body to sit down, proposing an idea.
"It would be great if they have faith on the same level as the Ice God and the Sky God. If we will bestow them with our favors, they should be put under restrictions for their parts in our plan." Gaia expressed her honest opinion because she could not trust the Sea God and the Evil God due to their lack of faith and favorability.
"Mm, a job will be bound by a contract, just like any other. If you wish to take part in our plan, then please accept this contract and sign it with your soul mark." Lifa nodded in understanding. She also gave contracts to the Ice God, the Sky God, and the Divine Church's high priest.
Two golden contracts soon emerged and floated before the Sea God and the Evil God with their true names written on the contract.
"Divine Executioner... this sounds fierce and the tasks are tailored for me. It's not bad and the restrictions are reasonable. Alright, I'm in." The Evil God, Xerroth, signed the divine contract with his true name and his divine soul mark.
"Hm, if I'm not mistaken you've abandoned your old divine title and become an Evil God, but why did you return to being an Evil God again?" Rhea raised her eyebrow, feeling it was weird.
"You ask too many questions, woman." The Evil God snorted, reluctant to answer.
"Hmph, I don't care." Rhea took the Evil God's contract and waited for the Sea God, but he took so long to read the contract.
"Grr..." The Sea God read his contract over and over again, but he found his tasks, duties, and responsibilities were quite numerous. Not to mention, he would receive some rather heavy restrictions.
"If you don't want to, then don't do it. We don't sponsor the insincere." Nell floated closer, reminding the others that there was no coercion in it.
"Fine, I'll sign it." The Sea God, Oceanid, bit the bullet to sign the contract using his true name and divine soul mark.
Since it was agreed upon, Lifa bestowed Oceanid and Xero with their well-deserved gifts. After that, they received restrictions so they wouldn't violate the rules and norms that had been set.
"I know that there might still be the sealed ones, surviving the wipeout. However, I wonder about the true purpose of these assignments. It's as if you don't want to get involved in this. Why is that?" Xero crossed his arms, trying to probe the true reason.
"We'll be away for several years for the upcoming divine war in the otherworld. We won't know when the surviving Ruvoid's minions will rise, but what concerns us the most is the unexpected invaders. Cultivate wisely, become stronger, so this world won't be bullied in our absence." Elysia shook her head.
"I'm not the same weakling from five years ago. Right now, I can rival the Ruvoid God and slay it in one-on-one combat." Xero straightened his back, standing like a proud warrior.
"You have grown stronger. You may rival the lesser Ruvoid God, but the current you will still be squashed to death by the high-rank Ruvoid God like Alashor and Prysm. If you are not convinced, our Fairy Goddess can show it and defeat you within seconds." Elena sighed.
"Huh?" Xero was truly unconvinced. He could understand that he was still far from the high-rank Ruvoid God, but he really couldn't accept being compared to the puny firefly.
"Hehe, don't you believe it? This venerable one can show you how insignificant you are before my divinity. You can no longer bully this one like in the past." Nell put her hands on her waist, feeling confident with her current divine power.
She couldn't count how many times she bullied her in the past, but thanks to Elysia and everyone in the family, the current her has grown strong enough to overpower this hateful bully.
"Keep speaking with that arrogance and I will show you who's the boss. I'll shred that smug expression on your face." Xero was so irritated because the weakest Goddess belittled him. There was no way pure support could defeat him, the all-round attacker.
Though it was what he said, what happened next was truly the opposite of his expectations. Instead of winning brilliantly, he was defeated within seconds just like what the Sun Goddess said.
"Damn you! Sun, did you play a trick in this match?" Xero shot out of the pile of debris, feeling unnatural in his fight with Nell.
"Sun? Who is he referring to?" Elena looked around, feeling confused.
"But, he stared at you. He often calls other people by random nicknames as he pleases." Lifa smiled in amusement.
"Is that so? The answer to your question is no. She's already a rank above you by otherworld standards. That's the Goddess of Blessings, her independent power." Elena rolled her eyes, answering Xero half-heartedly.
"You're strong, but not strong enough. So, please cultivate again. I believe we bestowed upon you manuals on how to become a stronger good devil effectively. Don't you dare to use those heinous techniques and methods, remember! You need to repent and pay for your sins!" Nell was pleased with her improvement. This way, she could bully him and lecture him like a senior to her junior.
"Damn it! Just wait, I'll make you grovel under my feet in our next match." Xero swallowed the humiliation because there was nothing he could do without the power to back himself up.
What do you think?
