My Goalkeeping TAS System

Chapter 3 Hungry Beast

Jack continued to sit at the table, his mind racing as he took a bite of the perfectly cooked eggs. His thoughts were consumed by the TAS System. The ability to manipulate time itself was overwhelming, but it was also exhilarating. He had barely scratched the surface, yet already he could feel his skills improving.

As he chewed, Jack scrolled through the system menu on his phone, looking at the available quests. They were simple at first—things like “Make three perfect saves in a row” or “Complete a series of timed drills.” Each quest offered different point rewards based on its difficulty. Some were based on football-related tasks, while others were more general challenges to improve reflexes and cognitive skills.

He could already see the potential. If he completed enough quests, he could level up and unlock more advanced training options. The thought of getting stronger, faster, and better with every passing day was something he couldn't ignore.

His phone pinged, pulling him out of his thoughts. A new notification appeared:

[Quest Available: Perfect the Dive. Complete three successful dives without missing.]

Points: 50

Jack's eyes sparkled. That sounded like a perfect way to start the day.

"Hey, Mom," he called, looking up from his phone. "How much time do we have before we leave?"

His mom, who had been busy preparing another plate of bacon, glanced over her shoulder at him. "We’ve got about 30 minutes. Why?"

Jack grinned, already formulating a plan in his head. “Just wanted to squeeze in a little extra practice.”

“Don’t overdo it now,” she warned, with a teasing tone. “You still need to be fresh for the trial.”

Jack nodded, pushing his plate aside. “I’ll be fine. I’ll just go outside for a quick drill.”

He stood up, grabbing his phone and heading toward the back door. The kitchen window overlooked their spacious backyard, where a goal net stood against the far fence. It wasn’t much, but it had been enough for him to practice his shots and saves over the years.

Stepping outside, Jack took a deep breath. The air was crisp, and the early morning light bathed the yard in a soft glow. He wasn’t sure how much he could improve in such a short time, but the TAS System had already proven to be a game-changer. And with the trial looming, he wasn’t about to waste a single second.

He pulled up the TAS System again on his phone and selected the Perfect the Dive quest. A blue screen popped up in front of him, giving him the instructions: “Complete three successful dives without missing.”

"Frame Forward," he muttered to himself, mentally speeding up time.

In the blink of an eye, the robotic striker he had seen in the tutorial appeared before him, ready to take a shot. The ball came at him fast and low, aimed for the bottom-right corner of the goal.

Jack's body reacted instantly. He dived with a fluid motion, stretching as far as he could. He made the save, pushing the ball wide. His heart was racing, but he quickly focused on the next challenge.

"Frame Forward."

The world sped up again. This time, the striker aimed for the top-left corner, but Jack was ready. He leapt, throwing himself into the air with perfect timing, and blocked the shot with his outstretched hand.

He could feel the system inside his head, guiding him, helping him make these decisions with ease. It was like he was in sync with his body and the world around him.

"Frame Forward."

The third shot came at him. This time, it was a tricky one—a high ball that curved at the last second. Jack jumped, twisting in midair, and with a perfect flick of his wrist, he managed to palm the ball away. The save was clean.

"Quest complete," the TAS voice chimed, as a message popped up on his screen: 50 points earned.

Jack stood up, a wide grin spreading across his face. He felt like he was on fire. He had completed the quest in record time, and now, he had points to spend on even more advanced training.

As he stood there, basking in the glow of his success, his phone buzzed again. He checked the screen.

[Quest Available: Precision Control. Complete five perfect passes to a moving target.]

Jack’s eyes gleamed. He wasn’t stopping here.

But just as he was about to dive into another drill, his mom’s voice floated through the back door.

“Jack, it’s time to go! We don’t want to be late for your trial!”

He paused, feeling a mix of excitement and determination welling up inside him. This trial was his chance—his moment to prove he belonged on the team. And with the TAS System by his side, he felt invincible.

“Coming, Mom!” he called back, stuffing his phone into his pocket and heading inside.

As he walked toward the car, he felt a surge of confidence. This wasn’t just any trial—it was the trial that would define his future. The system had given him tools that no one else had, and he wasn’t going to let them go to waste.

“Jack, are you okay?” his mom asked, looking over at him as they got into the car. "You’re awfully quiet."

Jack smiled, his eyes shining. "Yeah, I’m good. I’m more than ready. This time, I won’t disappoint."

As they drove toward the stadium, Jack’s thoughts remained laser-focused. His body had never felt sharper, and his mind was more alert than ever. He knew he had the skills to make it. The TAS System had given him the edge he needed, and he wasn’t about to let that go to waste.

This time, it would be different. This time, he would show them just how far he’d come.
