My Favorite Game Followed Me!

Chapter 446

Anton seemed stiff when he was practicing the sword that his father was teaching both him and his sister, but he did have several melee characters at the maximum level, so he had the capabilities of a top-notch warrior. It was just that he didn’t know if his body needed exercise, and if the sword practice would take his father’s mind off what happened to them, at least for a couple of hours, then Anton was glad to join the family in their sword practice.

Anna and his father spent the rest of the afternoon focused on their spellbooks. Anton was still concentrated on controlling the ship, and since their lifeboat didn’t actually touch the water and was just floating above it, they didn’t experience the swaying of the boat because of the waves that might result in their seasickness.

Not only that, because of Anton’s auras and the generous helping of mana water that he was providing his father and sister for washing their bodies and for drinking, the three of them remained healthy.

Before the sun had set, Anders quietly announced that he had successfully memorized his first cantrip, officially entering the world of magehood. Instead of celebrating the achievement, Anton and Anna simply nodded and went back to what they were doing, which was Anna memorizing her spell and Anton controlling the lifeboat.

Anders himself also went back to his business. He cast the spell onto his grimoire, and Anton wondered why Anna had multiple collections of unowned grimoires. It was a good thing because at least their father would be able to start creating his spell grimoire instead of them waiting to arrive at a civilization to purchase a grimoire. Once Anders recorded his first spell, which made the spellbook disappear, their father emptied his spell slot by casting the spell onto a mana power bank and started memorizing the cantrip again using his grimoire.

Anton was glad that his sister was truly prepared when it came to her magic. She had collected a massive amount of spellbooks that would allow her to memorize different varieties of spell until she reached the rank of archmage. That meant that their father spent a tremendous amount of gold coins for those spellbooks but another good thing was, which Anton would probably consider a waste before their situation occurred, Anna collected multiple spellbooks of the same spell of the lower rank spells.

Because of that, their father would be able to continue his recent pursuit to rank up as a mage. Anton reckoned that not only did his father desire power for their revenge against the undead, but Anders probably realized that, since they would be spending months at sea, it would be best for him to do something with his time.

When the dark of the night arrived, Anna simply stored her spellbooks and mana power bank and combed her hair with the coral comb, and then gave the comb to their father, and went straight to one of the beds they prepared. Anders did the same thing, and because of that, Anton was left by his lonesome self, staring at the dark, controlling their little lifeboat.

To be honest, Anton preferred to be alone. He wanted to be alone and knew that his father and sister were the same. They were all still grieving.

Once he got tired of staring at the darkness, Anton opened his browser and tried his best to become a zombie by watching nonsense short videos on the most famous short video platform on Earth. He made sure to set up a timer so that every hour, he would minimize the browser and check the surroundings. Then he would return to trying his best to make sure that his brain rotted.

At first, he tried watching a television show or an anime, but he couldn’t concentrate, so he went back to watching short videos. Based on what he had read before, it was a sign of depression, but at that moment, he didn’t care. He just wanted to stop hurting, and making himself behave like a zombie by watching the nonsense videos was helping a little.

When the sun rose in the east, Anton thought about dispelling the Cloak of Shadow spell, but whenever he thought of doing it, he became so fearful that he let the spell remain. He knew it was a reaction from the trauma they had experienced, and he didn’t know how to cure himself.

Probably after a while, he should be able to have the courage to dispel the spell.  He was glad that he was able to maintain all of the spells that he was using without any problem.

Anders and Anna woke up at the same time, and after spending a few minutes each in the bathroom, Anders forced his children to eat breakfast. Their behavior with the food was still the same. Mechanically eating them as if they were robots filling their bodies with fuel, but not experiencing any joy towards the action.

Their father tried his best to engage his children in discussion, but they mostly spoke in one sentence before growing quiet again. Anders soon gave up, while the two started practicing their magic, and Anton returned to staring at nothing, looking foolish.

During the afternoon, Anders interrupted his children and informed them that it was time for sword practice. They silently obeyed and followed their father’s instructions mechanically. While doing so, Anna suddenly spoke.

“It feels like we’re the only living people in the world.”

Anton and Anders just stared at her, then they returned to practicing the sword by following Anders’s movement.

At the very least, Anton was not worried about his father and Anna hurting themselves. He could see the rage in their eyes, which mirrored the tremendous anger he was feeling. That anger fueled his desire for revenge, and more than likely, his sister and father felt the same way.

By the time evening arrived, just like their father, Anna quietly announced that she had reached wizard rank two. Remembering that Anna was only thirteen years old, Anton’s sister was on her way to becoming a very powerful sorceress.

Anton and Anders congratulated her, and their father asked if she wanted to eat something. Anna simply shook her head, and then Anton’s father and sister prepared to rest for the night.

During the night, a sudden storm arrived, but Anton simply raised the lifeboat a little higher so they wouldn’t be affected by the waves. Anders and Anna woke up for a bit and watched the storm rage for a couple of hours, then they went back to sleep.

The storm suddenly stopped, and Anton didn’t know if the storm simply ceased to be or that they just outran it but nevertheless, it had little impact on their lives. He then controlled the lifeboat to return to floating just a few centimeters above the water since he felt that the shadow of the waves was assisting the Cloak of Shadow spell in hiding them.

The sun rose again, and his father and sister woke up.

“Father, can you take note of how many days we’ve been traveling. I simply had no energy to do it,” Anton told his father, and Anders simply nodded.

Anders then retrieved food from his storage amulet and commanded his children to eat, and after that, they all returned to doing what they were doing every day.

After a couple of days doing the same thing, Anders announced to his children that it was seven days after they escaped from the destruction of the Amelia, and Anton and Anna simply nodded. Anton still didn’t want to dispel their Cloak of Shadow, and to be honest, he didn’t know if his father and sister noticed that it was there.
