Chapter 224: Chapter 224 Departure
Tang Chuxia said he was a failure.
But this was the best reason for Father Tang and Madam Tang to accept her absence from home.
Tang Jianjun said Father Tang would definitely ask someone to confirm this, so Tang Chuxia had no choice but to return home, asking Madam Tang and licorice to pack a bundle for her. Meanwhile, she took the opportunity to quickly sketch something in the study.
By the time Madam Tang finished her chatter, Tang Chuxia had also finished her drawing.
She looked at the figures standing in the courtyard—an old Daoist holding an oil-paper parcel, an old monk with a food container, and Third Grandpa with a cloth draped over his shoulder. She felt overwhelmed.
Tang Chuxia handed the rolled-up drawing to Tang Jianjun. Aren’t we even hiding it?
Tang Jianjun’s eyelids twitched.
Madam Tang was puzzled and didn’t understand why the three old men were there, but she still greeted them warmly.
“I am here to take my leave. The year’s end is upon us, and it’s time to go out and beg for alms!” the old monk said with his hands clasped together, a face full of compassion.
“I am also here to bid farewell. It’s the end of the year, time to find a fateful donor and ask for a roasted chicken for the New Year!” The old Daoist struggled to whip his duster even half an arc.
“I’m just going back!”
Third Grandpa was the most straightforward.
Madam Tang hurriedly went inside to pick some snacks from the house to give to the three old men, having Tang Chuxia and Tang Jianjun follow them out.
She waited until they got into the car without giving it much thought.
But Tang Jianbing and Father Tang, who had rushed back, felt something was amiss.
Jianbing was on vacation; even if their leader had allowed Tang Chuxia to visit, it surely would have been after the New Year. Who would ask someone to travel during the New Year’s period?
What do you think?
