My Apocalypse Territory

Chapter 314 - 314 311 Changes (Part 2)

Chapter 314: Chapter 311 Changes (Part 2) Chapter 314: Chapter 311 Changes (Part 2) The little boy nodded, seemingly understanding yet not.

“But, why do we have to go to the Extreme Martial Arts Hall? I… I don’t want to stay there alone—”

He was reluctant, with a hint of crying in his voice.

Before the apocalypse, he hadn’t even started junior high. It was an age of innocence and romance, yet disaster struck, and his parents both perished… Moustache was the boy’s only remaining relative.

Moustache squatted down, exhaling a cloud of smoke that lingered in the cold air.

Not far away, a peddler with a backpack and wrapped in an old woolen coat faced the Awakeners passing by with a stiff smile, occasionally selling a bottle of water or a pack of food, revealing a knowing smile unwittingly.

The Awakeners, clad in beast skins or combat uniforms, hurried along.

Some were in groups of three or five with solemn expressions, some were seriously injured, being carried back by their companions…

There were all sorts of people; Moustache had seen too many in these past few months.

No one had it easy.

Moustache understood more clearly that, if not for the Sanctuary of Green Shadow, ordinary survivors could only live in a daze, eventually starving to death on some day, without any chance of survival through effort;

Awakeners seemed glamorous, going out to hunt, but often perished in the wild. It was only with the advent of rune equipment that Awakeners began to gain the upper hand in encounters with Demonized Beasts of the same level;

Including himself, without catching a “ride” with Green Shadow, he would still be just an ordinary commander of a Mercenary Corps, facing pressure from major forces within the Sanctuary, able only to bow his head and swallow his grievances.

Unlike now, Storm Commerce was among the top five unofficial forces in Heng City!

Moustache knew that everything stemmed from strength.

He looked at the little boy kindly, “Hu, you have great talent, and only at the Extreme Martial Arts Hall can this talent truly be transformed into strength. Your mother entrusted you to me, and I must provide you with the best environment.”

“There are Martial Arts Halls in Heng City too, and isn’t Heng City a large Sanctuary? Green Shadow is just a medium-sized Sanctuary…”

“Green Shadow is different.” Moustache shook his head slightly.

He understood his nephew’s fears; the apocalypse was dangerous, and it was his nephew’s first time traveling far, his first time living in an unfamiliar environment, and without familiar faces around, it was natural to feel scared.

However, in the apocalypse, many children, some even less than ten years old, had already learned to survive on their own.

Moustache indulged him no longer, slightly stern, “Hu, you need to learn to be strong. Uncle can’t protect you forever, and haven’t you always said you want to become a strong person when you grow up? As long as you study at the Extreme Martial Arts Hall, you will soon become a true strong person.”

“Haven’t you always wanted to learn Uncle’s Cultivation Skill? The reason I haven’t taught you is that at the Extreme Martial Arts Hall, as long as you work hard, you have the chance to encounter even more advanced Cultivation Skills. Stay at the Extreme Martial Arts Hall and study hard, and in a few months, you might even surpass Uncle.”

Moustache did not expect his nephew to understand all at once.

After finishing speaking, he stood up, the cigarette butt pinched between his fingers, and was about to casually throw it away… As if suddenly remembering something, he paused slightly, looked around, quickly stepped forward a few steps, and flicked the cigarette butt into a nearby trash can.

—The Outpost did not have penalties for littering, but without developing good habits, he feared that a visit to Green Shadow might bring back a stack of citations.

After a brief rest, the Storm Trading Group’s convoy set off again.

In the wilderness,

Looking around, there were weeds taller than a person, lush trees in the distance, dilapidated buildings covered in green vines, and a river still clear in the distance…

The only difference was the road under their feet that had been repaired.

The road, where potholes and cracks had been filled with asphalt and smoothed out, showed no abandoned vehicles, and weeds growing through the cracks were neatly cleaned.

Past the Creekwood Outpost, on this main road leading to Green Shadow, the convoy’s guards no longer needed to clear the way for the trucks, and every few hundred meters, a black tower stood by the road.

Moustache was reflective, “The last time I came, the road wasn’t fixed yet; Green Shadow’s development is really too rapid.”

The road was smooth, and almost no Demonized Beasts were encountered along the way. The convoy moved much faster than before, and within just over an hour, the Sanctuary of Green Shadow was in sight.

“Is that—”

Hu exclaimed in surprise.

In the distance, the towering city walls resembled a black giant dragon coiled up there, covering half the sky.

In front of the black city wall was a golden wheat field, with several survivors pushing walk-behind harvesters, shuttling through the rice fields.

Moustache was taken aback.

They’ve harvested?

It looked like a good harvest!

He began planning to transport a batch of food back to Heng City.

The truck slowed down and drove smoothly, with people returning from the outside converging on the main road leading to the city gate.

As they drew closer, everyone at the foot of the city wall seemed as tiny as ants.

This was a miracle in architectural history.

Many people visiting Green Shadow for the first time stared up in awe, unable to look away.

Despite having seen it several times before, Moustache was still amazed, “Hu, this city wall is much more spectacular than the one in Heng City, right?”

The city walls of the large Sanctuary, constructed with reinforced concrete and equipped with bunkers and artillery, were imposing and majestic. But compared to the seamless black rock walls that merged into one without any visible gaps… the city wall of Heng City seemed to lack something.

…It lacked a certain grandeur!

The city wall of Heng City seemed cobbled together, its outer steel plates showing clear welding traces, unlike the naturally integrated walls of Green Shadow.

The wide gate, capable of accommodating a dozen trucks abreast, was fully open, unlike many large Sanctuaries which typically opened only a small gate barely sufficient for vehicles on ordinary days.

Moustache looked up.

This towering and majestic city wall was ten meters taller than when he had arrived half a month earlier.

Before such a majestic pass, no level of Demon Tide would likely pose a threat.

In front of the city gate,

Hastily traveling survivors.

Awakeners returning from the outside.

Newcomers visiting Green Shadow for the first time, almost as if on a pilgrimage.

Some were ragged, some were neatly dressed, and some exuded a fierce, iron-blooded aura.

Most were on foot, with a few handling vehicles—Hummers, heavy trucks, armored vehicles, all-terrain vehicles… all could be seen here.

Even the unruly Awakeners and the contemptuous large convoys, upon reaching the main road in front of the city gate, would merely follow the crowd obediently, not daring to make any excessive movements.

Once inside the city, the crowd dispersed.

Straight ahead led to the bustling commercial district, but the Storm Trading Group’s convoy turned to the left, continuing along the road to a large parking area.

This place was where Green Shadow provided space for visiting convoys to park their vehicles and unload their goods.

Looking around, there were already quite a few vehicles parked here, mostly large modified trucks like those of the Storm Commerce, with thick steel plates added to the bodies and conical ramming rods welded to the front.

Inside the parking area, what used to be the Patrol Team—now called the Guardian Corps—patrolled back and forth, providing safety and security… at least Moustache had never heard of any merchant losing their goods here.

After the truck parked, Moustache directed his team members to unload some of the goods.

Suddenly, his nephew showed a panicked expression and pointed to the distance, “What, what is that?”

Moustache followed his pointing and saw a creature in their view that resembled a deer, but was several times larger than the commonly known deer.
