It was another evening, the most summery one of the year, with the setting sun at the edge of the sky half-hidden by clouds, and the air still carrying the heat of the afternoon.

I sat on the rattan chair on the balcony, holding a slice of watermelon, eating and watching the various beauties passing by in my line of sight, but without any intention to approach them. It was merely a pastime, for none could be more beautiful than my girlfriend.

I whistled at her to catch her attention and asked with a smile, "Out for a walk?"

"None of your business!"

I stood up from the rattan chair and walked to the white checkered railing, holding up the watermelon, "Come up for a slice of watermelon, cool off a bit!"

She looked around, puzzled, "Is it summer already?"

"Almost, just over a month until the summer solstice!"

Her tone was mocking, "Heh... Summer is the peak tourist season in Xitang, your family's business isn't doing too well, huh?"
