MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM

Chapter 197 197: Ancient Artifacts

Ancient Artifacts

After calming down, Christopher decided to look at the stats of Scarlet and Norn.

<Name: Scarlet

Weapon Type: Sword

Core Trait: Annihlation Incarnate (Unique)

Rank: Sovereign (evolvable)

Affinity: Annihilation

Status: Bound

Abilities → >

<Name: Norn

Weapon Type: Dagger

Core Trait: Fate's Adjudicator (Unique)

Rank: Sovereign (evolvable)

Affinity: Fate

Status: Bound

Abilities → >

Seeing the new stats, Christopher's interest was immediately piqued. He focused on the Core Tratis to see what they entailed.

[Core Trait: Core Traits are distinctions granted to weapons that have surpassed the distinction of a Soul Weapon. When this occurs, they develop a certain Trait that ties into another set of interesting abilities.]

[Annihilation Incarnate: The Weapon Scarlet can become an embodiment of Annihilation itself, the scale of its abilities depending on the user and their imagination, and Annihilation can be wrought on anything with seemingly no limitations.]

[Fate's Adjudicator: The Weapon Norn has ascended the hierarchy of entities capable of manipulating and controlling Fate. Its abilities are elusive by nature and entire destinies can be rewritten on a whim.]

Christopher whistled. He was sure the full scope of these Core Traits was much deeper than what the system showed him, but just the initial description alone was impressive.

He checked to see if they had gotten any other abilities, and unsurprisingly, they hadn't. It seemed that these Core Traits were a lot more important upon closer inspection, so they eliminated the need for any additional skills.

'How do you guys feel?' Christopher asked and was immediately hit with two different waves of excitement.

'Incredible! I can now understand Annihilation in ways I couldn't before, and certain limits that I had in the past are no longer there! I'm a lot more free in what I can do!' Scarlet exclaimed happily.

'Indeed, my connection to fate has risen tremendously, and certain worries we had before, like the fallout of using certain abilities of mine, can be circumvented. Moreover, just like Scarlet, certain limits have been lifted from me. So I can do much more.' The news was certainly good to hear.

'Nice job you two.' He said with genuine praise which was met with more joy.

After that, Christopher focused on his stats, or more importantly, his Dimension Skills, and the new one that should have appeared.

<...

Pocket Dimension (Level 1)>

"Hm." Christopher hummed, he wasn't too sure what the ability could be, so he decided to just look at the description.

[Pocket Dimension (Level 1): The Master can create offshoots of the Dimension and send them out to Embark on independent journeys. These pocket dimensions are connected to the main Dimension and can be accessed at any time. Moreover, each Dimension can grow by itself as each one possesses the <Passive Growth> ability that makes it possible for them to grow on their own.] Christopher finished reading the description and his face turned thoughtful.

'That's... actually pretty useful.' He thought to himself and he started thinking of ways to use the ability.

The first thing he thought of was creating pocket dimensions and sending them out on their own journeys to grow, and when the time came, he could assimilate them into the main dimension to make it bigger. That alone was impressive. But there were more things he could do.

For instance, the system said he was creating the pocket dimensions and not cutting off a part of the main dimension to create them. This meant that he could create a large number of them to which he could assign different purposes.

Granted, that was just a possible use for the ability, he didn't intend to use it to create pocket dimensions that separated his people. But they could work for other things.

'I could make a maximum security prison, that would be cool.' He shrugged. There were other things he could make.

'Actually, that gives me a few ideas.' He rubbed his chin with an excited smile as he thought about it. Then he paused.

'Wait a minute, I'm still wearing my mask.' He blinked and focused on his face. He was indeed still wearing his mask, but somehow his hand passed right through to rub his chin as if it wasn't even there. Yet his senses told him that he was still wearing a mask. One of its new abilities maybe?

'On second thought, it's been a while since I checked out the stats of my mask.' He thought as he pulled up the stats.

<Name: Mask of the Dreamer

Equipment Type: Mask

Rank: Sovereign (Ancient Artifact)

Affinity: Dreams, Illusion

Status: Bound

Abilities → >

'Oh?' When Christopher saw the Ancient Artifact distinction, he got curious. He always knew his mask wasn't normal, but this was the first time he'd gotten such a thing on any of his equipment.

'System, what are Ancient Artifacts?' Christopher asked and the System replied immediately.

[Should I explain it or input the information directly to your mind as a Codex?] Hearing this, Christopher raised a brow.

'Oh? Now you're suddenly so open to directly sending me Codexes huh?' Christopher said knowing damn well how petty he sounded.

[Do you want it or not?] Christopher thought he heard a touch of sass.

'Whatever, just get it over with.' He mumbled and a moment later, he felt the familiar sensation of a 'file' entering his mind which he promptly opened.

Codex of Lost Relics: Volume VII – Ancient Artifacts

Title: Ancient Artifacts – Relics Beyond Time and Reason

Classification: Immutable Relics of Conceptual Authority

Author: [Redacted]

Date of Compilation: Unknown

---

Introduction

Ancient Artifacts are relics beyond mortal craftsmanship, bound not by material strength but by conceptual weight. Unlike enchanted or divine artifacts, they do not simply channel power, they are power, crystallized into tangible form. Their influence stretches across eras, planes, and even the very nature of existence itself. To hold one is to grasp a fragment of a forgotten truth, a force that cannot be fully contained or understood.

---

Defining Characteristics

I. Conceptual Manifestation

Ancient Artifacts embody an idea so potent that it transcends physical limitations. A sword that represents Finality may sever more than flesh, it may cut the very notion of continuity. A mirror that reflects Truth may reveal more than appearances, it may expose the essence of a soul. These artifacts are not defined by their craftsmanship but by the metaphysical principle they embody.

II. Causality Distortion

The actions of an Ancient Artifact are not bound by linear cause and effect. Their abilities may alter past events, forge new realities, or suspend fundamental truths. Some exist simultaneously across multiple timelines, while others remain untouched by the concept of destruction.

III. Immutable Will

Though not necessarily sentient, Ancient Artifacts possess an intrinsic purpose that aligns with their nature. Some may resist wielders who oppose their essence, while others subtly influence their surroundings to maintain their intended role. There are those that cannot be truly owned, only borrowed by those who align with their purpose.

IV. Reality Veil & Perception Manipulation

The presence of an Ancient Artifact may alter how it is perceived. Some cannot be recalled unless directly witnessed, while others impose forgetfulness upon those who gaze upon them. To lesser minds, they may appear as mundane objects, while to the enlightened, they shine with undeniable significance.

V. Causality Anchors

Ancient Artifacts are not easily unmade. Destroying one requires an equal or greater conceptual force, and some remain tethered to existence even after physical destruction. Their influence lingers across dimensions, refusing to fade from the fabric of reality.

VI. Unique Bonding Mechanisms

Unlike standard weapons, they do not rely on energy reserves or magical imbuement. Instead, their power is drawn from their connection to the world, their wielder, or the very idea they embody. Some may forge contracts with their wielders, while others remain dormant until the right conditions awaken them.

Notable Examples

1. The Mask of the Dreamer (Artifact of Forgotten Names)

Attributes: Dreams, Illusions, Erasure

A mask that erases the wearer's existence from reality, severing their presence from memory and perception. To don it is to become Faceless, unseen by the world itself. It blurs the boundary between dream and waking reality, making it unclear whether its wearer exists at all.

2. [Redacted] (The Weapon of Unmaking)

Attributes: Annihilation, Paradox, Unraveling

A blade that does not cut, but removes. It does not sever bodies, but existence itself. Those struck by it are not slain; they are rendered as if they had never been.

3. The [Redacted] Grimoire (Tome of the Unwritten)

Attributes: Knowledge, Fate, Forbidden Histories

A book containing records that should not exist. Its pages inscribe events before they occur and erase those that have already transpired. Some believe it writes history, while others claim it only reveals what was always meant to be.

---

Final Notes

Ancient Artifacts are neither divine nor arcane, they exist outside such classifications. They are the echoes of forgotten concepts, remnants of forces too great to fade into obscurity. To wield one is to challenge the nature of existence itself.

Handle with understanding. Or be consumed.

How convenient that their abilities seemed a bit related to Scarlet and Norn.
