Chapter 68 68: First Fusion
The transparent screen blinked into existence, showing Sett's complex status. He ignored most of the details, focusing on the one that truly mattered.
===
[Tomb Walker Pathway]
(Fusion of two Pathways)
≫ Crypt Walker Pathway:
Tier 2 (Sacred). [9/9 Tomb Hearts].
≫ Tomb Raider Pathway:
Tier 1 (Low). [1/9 Tomb Hearts].
===
Unlike before when the fusion of the two pathways was incomplete, the current Sett's body was both that of a Tomb Raider and an Axiom Holder at the same time. It was now in a completely different, more perfect Pathway. It had both abundant Life Energy and Death Energy at the same time.
Sett then looked at his current physical attributes.
It doesn't seem to have taken effect yet, he realized.
After all, his physical attributes were still the same as it was before he revived himself.
===
Approximate Strength: 2.98 Metric Tons
Durability: Equal to a body made of Diamond
Speed: 102 km/h (62 mph) at max
Resilience: Mummies don't need sleep
Regeneration: Can passively heal minor wounds like small cuts in mere minutes.
===
He clenched his fists, then threw a Tomb Heart into his mouth. The taste was horrible, as Zainah said. It tasted like a rotten egg that had been left in the dishwasher for a whole week—but well, it took effect immediately.
Sett's vision sharpened, his muscles coiled tighter than a spring, and the world around him seemed to slow.
His breath, clogged, came out frosty as the power surged through him, a wild, untamed energy that made his heart pound like a war drum.
His pupils dilated, his jaw tightened, and a feral grin spread across his face.
New veins began to establish themselves across his entire body, slightly visible beneath his olive skin.
Since his body had been that of a Tomb Raider before it died and lost all its energy, the establishment of new veins felt as if it were opening up blocked pipelines for blood to flow. And Sett loved the sensations.
The rush of energy that followed was intoxicating, addictive, and for a moment, Sett felt invincible.
≫ Tomb Raider Pathway:
Tier 1 (Low). [2/9 Tomb Hearts].
He had become a true, bonafide Tomb Raider again.
Immediately, Sett felt his body's power increase dramatically.
He reigned in the berserking strength and looked at the screen.
[Approximate Strength: 3.98 Tons.]
This was a dramatic increase in strength, almost as if he had broken through another major Tier!
Sett grinned. KEKEKE!
The girls watched the grinning Sett from the side, both amused.
Luckily for him, he looked handsome and cool. Thus, even though he was laughing like a maniac, he just looked like an evil mad genius who had discovered some crazy secret.
If he were uglier, he would have sure looked like a drug addict.
"This is good," he said.
Then, without hesitation, Sett threw another six of the Tomb Hearts into his mouth and breathed in, his face a calm mask of satisfaction. He seemed to have entered a state of enlightenment, clenching his arms into fists as his golden eyes expanded.
Inside his body though, earth shaking changes were happening.
Cracking sounds echoed from inside, almost like the noise of boulders rolling down mountains. But his skin, as strong as diamonds, muffled the sound completely. When it was finished, Sett had reached the peak of Tier 1 as a Tomb Raider.
≫ Tomb Raider Pathway:
Tier 1 (Sacred). [9/9 Tomb Hearts].
Sett licked his lips, feeling that it was a pity that he didn't have higher Tier Tomb Hearts. It felt as if he was still missing a final piece in the complete fusion of his two Pathways. He had a feeling that it would change further when he reached the same level in both his paths.
Regardless, feeling the new strength in his body, Sett looked at the screen again.
[Approximate Strength: 4.4 Tons.]
"Of course," he muttered, "breaking through sublevels don't give as much strength as breaking through a major Tier."
Earlier, he had gone from Tier 0 to Tier 1 Low as a Tomb Raider. So, of course his gains were much better—directly improving 1 ton of force. But going from Tier 1 (Low) to (Sacred) didn't give that high a benefit.
But it was still not low, either.
It had improved his strength by more than 400 KG!
Sett looked at the two cuties who were looking at him in interest.
"Didn't you already become a Tier 2?" Zainah asked, curious. "I thought Tier 1 Tomb Hearts were useless for you."
"Tomb Hearts are never useless," he said. "Only idiots throw them away. But I guess, if I were to see you, even I might become a bit idiotic."
Zainah blushed.
Sett then looked at Zarah. "What are you grinning for?"
She flexed her muscles, it was beautifully carved–looking feminine and cute instead of masculine. "Look, muscles! Real muscles, but it doesn't even look ugly."
Sett smirked, removing his shirt. "Muscles don't look ugly. See?"
His body was a veritable sea of muscles. An eight pack stretched, sharp and angular, while obliques surrounded the packs. Then, his chest, arms, neck, and legs that all seemed to just exist in harmony, complementing each other.
Even the Heart Zone in his chest, where the Tomb Hearts floated, looked cool.
Zarah couldn't help the urge to try touching his abs. "Sis, oh my god. Try touching this, what the hell? It's like he is made of soft but firm crystal." Her eyes were full of stars. Her own body was already strong enough to bend metal, but this was even stronger.
Would she also become as strong at some point?
"It wasn't this strong when you were carrying me earlier," she said, full of interest.
Zainah, on the other hand, was looking at Sett with only her side-eye. This girl's thoughts really were shown on her face.
He wondered what she would do if he bit her cheeks.
"Heh, my body transformed on a fundamental level recently. This is how I truly used to look." He flexed his arms, lifting Zarah with it. "Say, do muscles look ugly now?"
"Humph," Zainah harrumphed from the side—not liking to be side tracked completely. "My little sister is not a man, so obviously she'd look ugly if she became like you."
Sett moved towards her—the sheer masculinity of him made her gulp. Zarah jumped away, ever the supportive little thing. And soon, Sett was looming over the slightly frightened Zainah.
"I don't disagree, but I'd like you even if you had muscles."
"Just wear your cloth!" she said, sneaking away from him like a startled cat, neck red.
She then watched him from the side, wary.
Sett looked at the flustered woman, then back at Zarah.
He sighed. "Another time, huh?"
Zarah nodded profoundly, he nodded back.
Sett then focused on his body again.
His physique was a masterpiece of raw power and precision—lean, yet every muscle defined with godlike perfection. It was, to be honest, even more perfect than his first life's body. Though weaker, of course.
He looked at his new physical attributes.
===
[Physical Attributes]
Approximate Strength: 4.4 Metric Tons
Durability: Equal to a body made of Diamond
Speed: 150 km/h (93 mph) at max
Resilience: Mummies don't need sleep
Regeneration: Can passively heal minor wounds like small cuts in mere minutes.
===
His Resilience, Regeneration, and Durability remained the same. But his strength and speed had increased dramatically—going from 2.98 tons to 4.4 tons. Nearly double his earlier strength. And speed, from 102 kilometers per hour to 150 kilometers.
Sett looked at Zainah, who was looking at him somewhat warily. She seemed to be too embarrassed, he realized. How cute.
"Do you want to try eating a Tomb Heart?" he asked.
She binked. "Can I, won't it be a waste if it doesn't work?"
Sett smiled evilly. "Let's try."
What do you think?
