Chapter 36 - 36 36 Jealous_1

Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Jealous?_1 Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Jealous?_1 Ji Hua paid no mind to Mu Chuyang and nodded in agreement, “That’s true. Back then, Wanxia kept our older brother hidden so tightly that no other woman could get close to him.”

“Didn’t our older brother also dance with Ding Nianzi at that banquet?” Mu Chuyang chimed in.

“Exactly! It must have been Ding Nianzi strutting in front of Wanxia,” Ji Hua said as though he had everything figured out.

“Oh? Wanxia got jealous then,” Mu Chuyang realized suddenly.

“It’s not just that simple, it seems the two of them haven’t made up,” Mu Feng said.

“If they had made up, there wouldn’t have been this half-month cold war,” Ji Hua commented.

“This is so complicated!” Mu Chuyang said, his face showing he didn’t understand because he knew very little about his older brother and Su Wanxia’s affair. He had only heard bits and pieces from Ji Hua and Mu Feng. Now he was completely lost about their meaning, only knowing that Ding Nianzi went to find his brother and Su Wanxia got jealous. Was his understanding correct? It should be, right?

“It’s indeed quite complicated,” Ji Hua and Mu Feng said in unison.

Ever since Wanxia was hospitalized with a twisted ankle, they had all thought the two of them had finally made up. But not long after, things turned out like this again, sigh.

“Can you explain it clearer, you guys?” Mu Chuyang asked, looking at Ji Hua and Mu Feng impatiently, as he was really curious.

“It’s not something that can be explained in a moment. We’ll find a quiet place to tell you another day. Let’s go; back to work,” Ji Hua said, standing up and heading for the door.

Mu Chuyang felt so frustrated inside, but with no alternative, followed Ji Hua with extreme dissatisfaction.

Meng Can had returned from F City a day earlier, and at this moment, Su Wanxia was discussing the assignment of the Bali Island project with him and Wen Lingya.

Each person had their own area of expertise. For a building created by a top-tier architectural team, it was essential to endow it with the perfect, fitting design style, which Mu Yingchen referred to as one of the “souls” of the building.

Meng Can’s design style was known for being high-end, luxurious yet understated.

Su Wanxia, on the other hand, was known as the Queen of Variation – meaning any type of building she was given, she would design its own artistic style, showcasing its most awe-inspiring aspect to everyone.

Wen Lingya also had some fame domestically. After all, her company was part of the Mu Group. Under that strong aura, as long as she worked hard, fame was not hard to come by.

But her design style was relatively lavish and gaudy. Su Wanxia had seen her work and felt it all boiled down to: glitzy, dazzling, and sparkling.

“Cancan, I think it’s more suitable for you to take on the presidential suite,” Su Wanxia said, looking at the CAD drawings on the table.

Wen Lingya felt a bit displeased upon hearing Su Wanxia say this. Although the others were more famous than her, her design style was just right for the presidential suite – luxurious and high-class.

“I’ve actually designed a few presidential suites myself. Would you like to see them?” she said somewhat boastfully. Originally, she had wanted to show them to President Mu, but since he had said they should discuss it among themselves, she brought them out for everyone to see.

Su Wanxia, maintaining a calm exterior, smiled wryly upon hearing Wen Lingya, but was internally speechless.

Wen Lingya was certainly competitive but needed to pick her battles. Yes, the presidential suite’s style was luxurious, but not the kind she was thinking of – to put it nicely, it was opulent; to put it bluntly, it was vulgar.

Meng Can also smiled helplessly, “Oh? Miss Wen’s work efficiency is much better than mine, I haven’t even started yet.”

Complimented by Meng Can’s words, Wen Lingya nearly floated off in satisfaction and smiled gently, “You were just not around recently.”

Su Wanxia listened to her and couldn’t help thinking, at least she knew to be modest, not beyond redemption.

“How about this, after Cancan designs two sets, we present them both to President Mu for the final decision,” Su Wanxia said.

“Hehe, sure,” Wen Lingya was not the least bit modest, brimming with confidence.

Su Wanxia didn’t feel like talking more with her and asked, “Lingya, have you ever designed a restaurant?”

The smile on Wen Lingya’s face became unnatural, “Hehe, I don’t really deal with that,” her expertise was quite limited.

“Then leave the restaurant design to me, and we’ll discuss the rest later!” The project was big; everything had to be done step by step, meticulously, to not spoil the overall aesthetic.

“OK.”

“Sure.”

After returning to their respective offices, Su Wanxia checked the time. It was just 7 p.m., time to pack up and leave work.

Carrying her bag to the door, Meng Can also emerged from his office. They exchanged smiles and left work together.

Su Wanxia and Meng Can also considered each other close friends, as both had struggled abroad and shared similar professional passions, often finding their ideas coincidentally aligned.

Talking and laughing, they arrived at the parking lot. When passing by Mu Yingchen’s private parking spot, she purposely avoided looking in that direction. It was the regular end of the workday, and running into him would be awkward, especially since they hadn’t seen each other in half a month.

Mu Yingchen had just slid into the driver’s seat when he looked up to see the woman he’d longed for half a month, laughing and chatting with another man as she walked past him.

A surge of anger took hold, his possessiveness so strong he almost wanted to drag her back immediately and shove her into his car.

But reason reminded him, no, wait a few more days. In a few days, he would have to properly “train” her.

By then, Su Wanxia had no idea she had just been mentally noted by someone and, after saying goodbye to Meng Can, drove in the direction of home.

At home, Mother Su had already prepared a delicious meal. Lately, she had been dining at home, filled with the joy of lively family dinner conversations.

“Xiaxia, your birthday is in a few days. Mum and Dad haven’t celebrated your birthday in 6 years. This year, we must celebrate properly,” said Mother Su with a beaming smile.

“Indeed, we should celebrate. Dad will prepare a birthday party for you and invite all your good friends,” Father Su said, his face full of satisfaction.

A thought flashed through Su Wanxia’s mind, and she did the math. Yes, her 25th birthday was only a few days away; she might have forgotten had her parents not mentioned it.

She hadn’t celebrated her birthday at home for many years, each time feeling a sense of loss. During the years abroad, she scarcely celebrated because her family and friends weren’t around, except for Jesse, who would give her a present every year, bring a cake, and take her to the rooftop to blow candles and make a wish.

“Dad, Mum, it’s enough just to celebrate with you. We don’t need too many people, just inviting Yirou and a few others will do,” Su Wanxia said somewhat coquettishly.

“How can that be enough? My daughter Su Hongbo has finally returned from abroad. We have to celebrate properly,” Father Su said with pride in his face.

Mother Su looked at Father Su with eyes full of consolation, guilt, and gratitude.
