Chapter 128: Chapter 128 Meeting the Mother-in-law_1 Chapter 128: Chapter 128 Meeting the Mother-in-law_1 Su Wanxia lay in Mu Yingchen’s embrace, powerless and panting for breath, really wanting to kick him off.
Damn it!
“Tired?” Mu Yingchen gently kissed her smooth forehead, asking softly.
Su Wanxia immediately rolled her eyes weakly. What did he mean by “tired”? She had been tired for a while now and was almost dead tired, okay?
“Get away; I want to sleep,” she said, trying to move back and leave his embrace.
Mu Yingchen wouldn’t agree, of course. With a bit of strength in his arms, she obediently collapsed back into his hold.
Su Wanxia felt so frustrated. How could this man be so strong?
She really wanted to cry~
Mu Yingchen couldn’t help but chuckle, “Alright, sleep then.”
Hearing his words, Su Wanxia finally closed her eyes somewhat reassured. She was truly exhausted, barely able to keep her eyes open.
With that thought, she drifted off into a hazy sleep.
Mu Yingchen listened to her light and evenly spaced breathing, a satisfied smile curling on his beautiful lips.
The next day, when Su Wanxia woke up, the space beside her was empty. She reached out to touch the spot next to her, feeling a faint coolness indicating that Mu Yingchen had risen a while ago.
She lazily rolled around in bed, stretched, and sat up.
Looking around and checking the clock, 8:30, not too late.
Then she got out of bed and started looking for clothes. When she accidentally saw the bruises on her body, she couldn’t help but curse Mu Yingchen in her heart again.
After getting dressed and freshening up, she headed downstairs.
Approaching the bottom of the stairs, she stood there curiously sticking her head out, searching for Mu Yingchen’s figure.
When her gaze swept over the living room, her body instantly stiffened on the stairs.
And in the living room, as Mu Yingchen, Mu’s mother, and Bai Yudie turned their gazes toward her at the same time.
Seeing her, Mu Yingchen immediately rose from the sofa and started elegantly walking in her direction.
Mu’s mother’s expression was somewhat somber; though she sat silent, the slight heave of her chest betrayed her anger.
Bai Yudie didn’t even need mentioning; upon arrival, she had wondered whether Su Wanxia would be there.
Fortunately, after arriving, she hadn’t seen her.
But now, she had to watch with her own eyes as Su Wanxia came downstairs, and worse, the exposed kiss marks on her neck were like a jab to Yudie’s eyes.
The jealousy in her heart flared up like flames out of control.
“Come, Wanwan.” Mu Yingchen reached Su Wanxia’s side, took her hand from the railing, and walked toward the living room.
Su Wanxia hadn’t expected to suddenly see his mother and instantly felt panicked.
She struggled slightly, her feet planted firmly in place.
Mu Yingchen turned to look at her and then smiled gently, “Don’t be nervous, every bride must meet the in-laws eventually.”
His half-joking words slightly relaxed Su Wanxia’s heart, but she still didn’t know how to face his mother.
Mu Yingchen brought Su Wanxia in front of Mother Mu, whose expression was somewhat unpleasant, because she too had seen the ambiguous marks on Su Wanxia’s body.
“Mom, this is Wanwan, you’ve seen her at the banquet,” Mu Yingchen said to Mother Mu in a gentle tone.
Mother Mu glanced at Su Wanxia, then fixed her stare on Mu Yingchen and said, “Yingchen, you are being too reckless!”
“Mom, you haven’t greeted Wanwan yet, or perhaps a meeting gift would be appropriate,” Mu Yingchen said, pulling Su Wanxia’s hand and half-joking, ignoring Mother Mu’s reproach.
Mother Mu was so angered by Mu Yingchen’s words that she almost walked away.
Meanwhile, Su Wanxia was surprised inside, not expecting Mu Yingchen to be this persistent and coaxing in front of his mother, truly catching her off guard.
“Come Wanwan, since it’s our first meeting, a meeting gift is definitely in order.” Saying so, Mu Yingchen picked up a tea cup from the table and handed it to Su Wanxia.
Su Wanxia was speechless. Now that the tea was presented to her, she had to accept it, especially as she at least had to maintain his face in front of him.
She took the cup and slowly extended it towards Mother Mu. Her throat moved several times before she finally managed to utter the word “Auntie.”
To know, calling the woman who had once caused harm to her and her family “Auntie” was an incredibly agonizing thing for her.
But to prevent Mu Yingchen from noticing anything unusual, she had to go along with his wishes.
Mother Mu seemed to be slightly stung by the word “Auntie.” She frowned slightly, about to say something, when Mu Yingchen cut in, “Mom, I remember that jade bracelet of yours is quite nice—”
Mother Mu’s heart skipped a beat. It was nice indeed; she had worn it for twenty years.
“It would certainly not disgrace you as a meeting gift,” Mu Yingchen continued.
Mother Mu didn’t know what to say anymore. She had originally come to blame and question, but how did it end up like this?
Her son was using his tactics on his own mother, very well indeed!
Although Mother Mu was extremely opposed to him being with Su Wanxia, she had kept the incident from six years ago a secret from him. In order not to arouse his suspicions, she reluctantly accepted the tea that Su Wanxia handed over.
After putting the tea aside, she thought about whether she had any other valuables on her, but after looking up and down, there was nothing except for the translucent jade bracelet on her left wrist.
She looked at the bracelet, not that she was unwilling to part with it, but because it was a gift from Mu Yingchen’s father, thus she had never taken it off for all these years, simply accustomed to its presence.
“Mom, you wouldn’t be so petty, would you?” Mu Yingchen said again.
Mother Mu was almost overwhelmed with vexation. With a resolute heart, she removed the jade bracelet from her wrist and handed it to Su Wanxia without looking.
Su Wanxia looked at it, hesitated whether or not to accept it, but Mu Yingchen had already taken the item from Mother Mu’s hand.
“Thank you, Mom!”
Then he slipped it onto Su Wanxia’s hand while saying somewhat relievedly, “Wanwan, Mom cherishes this jade bracelet very much. Since she’s willing to give it to you, it means she accepts you as her daughter-in-law. In the future, do spend more time at home with her, I’ll be very happy with that.”
Su Wanxia was shocked, not expecting Mu Yingchen’s move to have this intention; her heart was suddenly filled with mixed feelings.
Mother Mu also looked at Mu Yingchen with astonishment. She had just given a gift according to his wish; how did it become an acknowledgment of Su Wanxia’s status as her daughter-in-law?
Her son had outmaneuvered her once again!
Mother Mu had hardly ever been outplayed by her own son, but given the special circumstances, she couldn’t make a scene.
After all, she knew that no matter what, Su Wanxia could not enter the Mu Family’s door, so there was no need to fall out with her own son over her.
What do you think?
