Chapter 207: Unsurprising Performance.
Regardless of the type of golem he faced, he defeated them in about the same amount of time. This continued until the fifth round. But by that time, the people who were faster than him were already slowing down.
After four rounds, he had defeated 20 golems and earned 50 points. But the fifth version of the golems had begun to reach the limit for the examinees at the first mortal coil.
Model: Fast Dagger Golem (5)
Strength: 7 > > > 8
Speed: 8 >>> 11
Defense: 6 > > > 7
The fast dagger golem now had 26 total points. It was still far from the total 30 points of someone at the tenth transformation of the first mortal coil. But its speed had already overtaken what someone at the tenth transformation is capable of.
At this point, only those at the tenth transformation could use their skill and fighting techniques to contend with the fast dagger golem. But their speed of defeating the golem had slowed down to a crawl.
After all, even though they were stronger than the golem and had a more durable body, if they couldn't hit the golem, they wouldn't be able to defeat it.
Meanwhile, the golem had the initiative in the fight because it was faster. It could retreat and advance at will, which put the examinees on the back foot during the fight.
This was what was going on for the best of the best among the examinees. As for the examinees at the seventh, eighth, and ninth transformations, they can go no further if they haven't already been defeated already.
Even for those at the tenth transformation, they had begun to feel the strain and were beginning to contemplate burning blood essence to keep going.
But this wasn't the case for Arthur. To him, there was no essential difference between a speed of 8 and 11. This kind of speed still meant that he only needed one arrow to kill the golem. So he spent the same amount of time defeating the golem.
The time he spent on each fight was less than five seconds. He spent about that time leisurely strolling to the next golem to fight it and checking their properties after defeating them.
So while everyone was slowing down, he was rising through the ranking list. In less than 10 minutes of the examination, he had moved to the top of the ranking.
Lady Vena, who was watching his fight from her viewing card, had a smirk on her face. She didn't stop looking at her viewing card when Thompson returned to the ship after being eliminated.
Thompson didn't know what she was smirking at, but all he needed to do to find out was to look at the large ranking pillar above the venue. He saw Arthur's name in the first position.
It had only been 10 minutes since the first examinees were taken to the examination hall, but Arthur had already acquired performance points of 330.
The participants who had reached the second round of golems and experienced the increase in difficulty and rewards could deduce that he had finished eleven rounds of golems.
Thompson himself had only barely finished the third round of golems before he was eliminated. Yet, Arthur had gone way beyond that.
He didn't compare Arthur's performance with his because he knew that he and Arthur were too different for comparison. In fact, he thinks that Arthur is in a league of his own, which is why he compared Arthur's performance to the person in the second position.
The person in the second position had performance points of 126. It meant he was in the middle of the seventh round. This made Thompson chuckle.
He remembered the first day he met Arthur and remembered how Arthur had spent two months to finish the first class while the best of the rest had spent 6 months. Average people had spent one year to complete that class and reach the third transformation, while mediocre people had to repeat the class and spent two years at it.
After remembering this, he said to himself, "I'm not surprised."
He wasn't surprised at all by Arthur's performance. He also didn't feel ashamed that he couldn't be compared with Arthur. After all, the best of the best also couldn't compare with Arthur.
If anything, he felt proud of Arthur. It was the same feeling that Lady Vena was experiencing.
Lady Vena felt like shouting to the world that Arthur was her son. But she still had a little pride and decorum.
Maybe she would have shouted about Arthur being her son if Tyson hadn't been shouting it to everyone that the number 1 was his half brother. She couldn't lower herself to the level of a child, so she kept her impulse in check.
The best she could do was irritate Delia by glancing and smirking at her. She didn't say anything to Delia, but she didn't need to. Everything that needed to be said and the things she shouldn't say had already been said through her actions.
Lady Delia scoffed and refused to engage with Vena. She just watched Arthur's performance through the viewing card.
Augustus was also watching the performance of Arthur. But he was also checking the performance of the other true children of the family, and he was doing so together with the patriarch.
He was in a small private room in the ship. He and many other adults of the inner court of the Dyson family were sitting at a table watching the performance of the children of the family. At the end of the table was the patriarch.
All of them had blond hair and blue eyes. The patriarch in particular was eye catching. The blonde hair on the man's head was producing light that lit up the room.
In general, the children of the family were performing very well. All of them were firmly within the top 50,000. So at this rate, they would make it to a sect.
But patriarch Calcetti was not happy. He had a frown on his face as he watched Arthur's performance.
What do you think?
