Monopolize My Mysterious Wife

Chapter 19 - 19 19 Lord Jing Peeling Shrimp_1

Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Lord Jing Peeling Shrimp_1 Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Lord Jing Peeling Shrimp_1 Despite being turned down, Quan Yifei was not disappointed. After all, it was merely a joke. As a child from a prestigious military family, she knew that acquiring such skills would not be possible without practicing for several years.

“Then you could demonstrate it for me, come on, please!” Quan Yifei pressed her hands together in a pleading gesture, looking at her with eager eyes.

Jian Qing glanced at the table before her, then looked up at Quan Mingxuan, “Do I need to pay for the table if it gets damaged?”

Tsk, such a fine table made of rosewood, it would be quite a waste to break it with one flick of a chopstick.

Quan Mingxuan paused, then understood her meaning. He caught Quan Jingwu’s eye, smiled, and said, “No need to worry, do as you like.”

If the host of the table did not care, then Jian Qing had no qualms either. She pushed aside the bowl and chopsticks in front of her, picked up a chopstick, and without even looking, thrust it into the table.

It seemed like a gentle force, yet it was fierce.

The exquisite chopstick was firmly implanted in the table.

“…” Quan Yifei swallowed, her brain working furiously to process what had just happened.

Was this… a magic trick?

Quan Yimo and Quan Mingxuan exchanged glances, both looking collectively to the calm and composed woman. Quan Jingwu’s deep purple eyes fixated on her, a hint of an unnoticeable smile playing in the depths of his gaze.

“Good skills, Miss Jian. You must’ve had some training, right?” Quan Mingxuan inquired tentatively.

This rosewood table was bespoke. Even he was absolutely sure he couldn’t pierce the table through with a chopstick.

Jian Qing gave a light laugh, her words diplomatically avoiding the subject. “Just basic skills, I would not compare to you.”

The Quan family was a prominent military family of Beijing, and all their offspring were trained from a young age. They certainly had some skills.

Quan Mingxuan laughed, not pressing any further.

“Damn, Jian Qing, you’re my idol!” Quan Yifei declared, looking at Jian Qing with fervent admiration in her eyes.

She decided, from this day on, Jian Qing would be her idol.

Jian Qing merely laughed softly and didn’t say anything.

During the course of their conversation, the food for the table was served. Not everyone had the privilege of tasting the dishes from Qianshi Restaurant; some special dishes were served only a few times a day. Clearly, Quan Mingxuan, being the restaurant’s owner, could have them anytime he wished.

Though she had already eaten some earlier, Jian Qing was still hungry. The sight of the spread on the table was bound to stimulate one’s appetite.

Jian Qing had elegant table manners, which Quan Mingxuan, a well-traveled individual, noticed right away. He had spent some time in Europe and had studied European court etiquette. Without a doubt, Jian Qing’s dining etiquette was akin to that of European nobles, and such inherent elegance and refinement were not achieved overnight.

Quan Mingxuan glanced at Quan Jingwu, believing that he must’ve noticed it too.

Jian Qing was unaware of Quan Mingxuan’s keen observation. Being preoccupied with the delicious dishes nearby, particularly the shrimp dish, a look of hunger and uncertainty crossed her eyes.

She loved shrimp, but embarrassingly, she didn’t know how to peel them. Her skills at shrimp-peeling were non-existent; a whole shrimp in her hands would inevitably end up as small bits of meat. Anyone not knowing her would hardly believe those remains were once a shrimp.

She had an absolute weakness for seafood, especially shrimp. Those shrimps on the plate looked so tempting, she wanted to reach out for them, but how?

If only Luoluo were here.

If Jian Luo knew that his elder sister only thinks of him in such times, he would probably burst into tears.

Quan Yifei was oblivious to Jian Qing’s dilemma with shrimp peeling. Seeing her not touching the shrimp, she eagerly introduced, “Jian Qing, these shrimp are one of the tastiest dishes in Qianshi Restaurant. You should try it; it would be a shame to miss out.”

Jian Qing looked helpless, her eagerness to devour those shrimps was now stronger than ever.

If she did not eat them, it would be a waste.

But if she ate them, her inability to peel shrimp would be exposed.

Jian Qing felt conflicted, her chopsticks stayed unmoving. Suddenly a clean small bowl was pushed in front of her, containing two perfectly peeled shrimps.

“They won’t taste as good once they cool down.” A deep magnetic voice echoed, Jian Qing looked up to see the pair of purple eyes looking at her, feeling a bit startled and puzzled.

Was he offering these to her?

Did he peel the shrimps for her?

Quan Jingwu calmed down and withdrew his hand, picked up another shrimp, and began peeling again. He worked on the shrimp with focus, as if it were a fine piece of art.

It wasn’t just Jian Qing who was shocked by Quan Jingwu’s actions; the three onlookers were equally stunned. Their brains seemed to have stopped working.

He was peeling shrimp for someone else, and that someone was a woman?

Perhaps they were still asleep and seeing things?

Everyone in Beijing knew how particular Quan Jingwu was about cleanliness, and now he was peeling shrimp for others. Had the world gone crazy?

A barrage of questions rained down on them, leaving them stunned.

Quan Yifei rubbed her eyes, looked closely again, and confirmed she wasn’t seeing things.

Could she alone sense the underlying intimacy?

“Don’t you like it?” Quan Jingwu’s voice echoed again. Jian Qing was slightly embarrassed by her daze, but it was only momentary.

Averting his gaze, Jian Qing looked at the shrimp in her bowl, picked one and popped it in her mouth, ignoring her worries.

The sultry sweetness of the shrimp burst in her mouth and Jian Qing closed her eyes in satisfaction. The curve of her lips resembling a crescent moon was enchanting.

No wonder this was the most famous restaurant in Beijing, five stars!

Quan Jingwu placed the peeled shrimp in Jian Qing’s bowl, and the reflection of her satisfied smile in his gaze stirred a slight smile upon his lips as well.

One person was peeling, another was eating; it was a harmonious sight.

However, the three onlookers appeared to be the ones suffering. Quan Yifei rubbed her eyes and gazed intently at the scene before her to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating.

Could she be the only one smelling a certain romantic air?
