Chapter 1423: The Great Veldanyr Labyrinth (10)
"…Any update on what Black Blades is planning to do?"
Admiring the efforts they've put into the past half month with a solemn expression, Valyr looked at the messenger before him with a slightly raised eyebrow.
"It's already been a couple of days since Blood Petal joined our alliance," continued the young man. "Surely they'd make a move on us sooner or later, no?"
"That's what I thought as well." The messenger nodded in agreement, only to then frown.
"However, after roaming the edge of their territory, I noticed that almost all of their members were at the spawn room, seemingly not moving an inch away out of it whatsoever."
Hearing those words, Valyr's eyes widened in slight surprise. "Really?"
"Really." The messenger nodded once more, prompting the young man to contemplate over it.
After the brief encounter he had with the man during one of his early dungeon runs, Valyr more or less had an idea of what kind of person Darklight was.
Considering his actions to trap them in the dungeon and leave them to fend off themselves, the young man believed that the man would use all their means in his disposal to get what he wanted as much as possible.
After all, thanks to the labyrinth, he was finally able to find out that Darklight was a high-ranking member of the guild named Lightless Blades, a guild that had already begun to gain notoriety in a decent number of cities.
Of course, since he'd asked for the group's help on the matter before, Valyr promptly informed SeventhShield of his findings, to which the latter immediately gave him more information on the guild, as well as the player they were tracking.
With that information, it was only then did Valyr fully understand Darklight, feeling a both a sense of disgust and understanding towards the actions the man took.
Yet, during the past half month or so after the beginning of the labyrinth's second phase, Valyr sensed none of the scrupulousness from Darklight at all.
Although the man's guild seemed to show a bit of killing intent after he showed his intentions to take over their territory, the young man felt that their actions was unlike what a guild infamous for killing and plundering would do.
Wouldn't it be more apt if Darklight and his guild took the initiative and launched an offensive on their territories instead?
However, even though the thought lingered in Valyr's mind, Darklight showed no will to turn that thought into a reality whatsoever, instead choosing to use the same approach Valyr's group did in claiming more rooms within the labyrinth.
Unfortunately, with the massive lead his group initially had over the other groups before the second phase began, the six groups pleaded allegiance towards Valyr's group instead.
After all, they would seek to benefit more from the deal than if they were to ally themselves with Darklight's group.
'I wonder if their group's inaction is just a distraction for what's to come?' asked Valyr to himself, thanking the messenger for his report as he slowly made his way to the pedestal.
Whoosh!
Aiming to redeem more items from the labyrinth, the young man went ahead and placed one of his hands on it, prompting the list of remaining items to pop up, as well as the current amount of Labyrinth Points they currently had.
"…Damn." Of course, with the generation rate being many times greater than it was at the start of the second phase, the figure that greeted Valyr briefly left him at a loss for words.
————
Labyrinth Points: 18,282,547,829
————
After officially forming with Two Wolves just minutes after the labyrinth's second phase began, Valyr immediately made use of the second and third root he bought, bumping the generation rate of each room by 2 points and 3 points respectively.
Then, as more and more of the groups pleaded allegiance to Valyr's group in exchange for obtaining the items their respective guilds needed, the young man was able to amass more and more Labyrinth Points, spending some of them on the items that were similar to the root.
With that, in just the past half month alone, he was able to increase the base point rate of the first room from 6 points per minute to 23 points per minute.
Not only that, but the territory their group controlled had expanded from 183 rooms to 469, which bumped up their point generation to just a bit above 2.5 million points a minute.
"With this amount, we've pretty much bought all of the point generation upgrades available on the list, bringing the generation rate up from 23 to 50."
Making up his mind to generate as much Labyrinth Points as possible throughout the month and only spend it afterwards, the young man showed no hesitation in buying the fourth and fifth root, star, and plate on the list, immediately making use of them the moment they appeared.
Whoosh!
Feeling the energy coursing throughout their rooms thrum with greater force as the added items melded with the pedestal, Valyr soon had a smile on his face as he noticed Thomas and the others moving towards him.
"I'm guessing you guys noticed the upgrades I bought?" he asked them, to which they nodded in return.
"You bought more items that increase the generation rate, right?" asked Thomas in return.
Valyr nodded in agreement. "Yeah. With the items I just bought, the generation rate of the first room has been increased to 50 points."
"50 points…" murmured Meria after that, already knowing the question her friends had in mind once the young man mentioned the figure.
"…Wow." By the time she was done computing the final number in her mind, Meria's eyes widened in surprise as she briefly glanced at Valyr and the others.
"How many points are we generating per minute now?" Valyr asked, slightly expectant of the answer that would come out of her mouth.
"Only half a million away from generating 6 million points a minute," she replied, leaving everyone who heard her words completely speechless.
"Of course, if you want a more exact number, then we're currently making around 5.5 million points a minute."
"With that generation rate, we're making over 330 million points an hour, which is close to 8 billion points a day…" said Valyr in response to that, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
"If the generation rate stays the same for the remainder of the month, then we'll have…"
"A fuck ton of points," replied Thomas, to which Meria and the others profusely nodded in agreement.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Just as Valyr and the others were inwardly celebrating their mostly maxed out point generation, a series of explosions occurred near the edge of their alliance's unified territory.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Informing the leaders of the six other groups as to what's going on, the seven groups eventually made their way to where the explosions were occurring, only to find Darklight at the forefront of it.
"Well, well, well… look who we have here," said the man, looking at Valyr with a mocking grin. "The man who took everything I had from the labyrinth away from me."
"I didn't take anything away from you," responded the young man in return, shaking his head at Darklight's words. "If anything, it was the other groups that made the choice to ally with me."
"Bah!" Hearing Valyr's words, the grin on Darklight's face turned into a sneer. "To hell with all that mental gymnastic shit!"
"…You know what I've come here for, Ataraxia," said the man, glaring daggers at Valyr. "Since you've taken everything from me, it's only right that I take everything back for myself."
"Prepare yourself, Ataraxia!"
"I'm not gonna hold back anymore!"
What do you think?
