CHAPTER START---

---April 2nd, 6 PM Japan Time, 5 Months Since AFO's Last Appearance…

Since the destruction of Tartarus, the breakout of Horizon, and All For One, many changes have happened in the world.

Most notably, a shift in global security, quickly making the United States, or more accurately, New York City, the safest place on earth.

With Horizon Tower on Central Park East, much investment has poured into Manhattan.

And now, a mere few city blocks away from that building, is a new hospital, designed to be a storage and distribution facility for Panacea in this area. It also doubles as a general hospital with a massive Miracle Ward.

A facility reserved for Horizon to use during surgery or any other rare visit, although he hasn't appeared publicly since his live broadcast with Pantu.

Now, in the early hours of the morning, before the sun rises in Manhattan, nurses and doctors are rushing about the emergency room lobby to treat patients.

The usual buzz is slower than usual. Many people have been rerouted to other facilities nearby, reserving space here for any high priority incidents that must be accounted for over the next few hours.

And as everyone is going about their business, the absolute worst-case scenario happens, and chaos erupts in the emergency room.

A purple warp gate appears just outside the building, in view of the lobby through the automatic glass doors.

The first person out the warp gate is Uravity, in full costume, covered in small cuts and bloodstains, face stained with tears beneath her small and transparent visor.

"We need help!" Her voice is fragile and desperate as she almost breaks the doors, barely giving them enough time to open before rushing through. "Please! He needs help!"

The doctors who were on standby in case of something like this look past her, at the man floating behind her out of the warp gate as she drags him toward them.

"Get an operating room ready!" The head doctor pulls a gurney and meets Uravity in the hallway. "I'll take him from here!"

The man pulls Deku away, glancing down at the Hero, struggling to survive as the Panacea they already poured on him works a miracle.

Deku's entire torso was exposed through his destroyed Hero Costume, his left arm and shoulder missing, along with a fist-sized hole in his gut and one through his left thigh.

The doctor could clearly see the gurney through the holes, but the Panacea was already working overtime just to keep Deku from dying en route to the operating room.

"It's the priority one patient," the doctor says to a nurse, and she immediately signals a team to prep Deku's blood bags and specialized medicine.

"Will he be alright?" Uravity asks, and the man gives her a nod, only muttering a promise to do his best before rushing off.

As the double doors shut in front of her, blocking her from following them to the operating rooms, the entire world feels empty.

Her breathing becomes labored, heart rate reaching new highs as her fear of him dying in her arms is replaced with him dying alone on a cold operating table.

"Uravity," a hand grabs her left shoulder, and she spins around to see Shoto looking at her, now with a height matching Deku's.

Both his eyes are red and puffy, but his face was determined and focused as he gestured back to the entrance.

"Can you use your Quirk en masse? We need to get everyone here before the shield breaks. We don't have much time left."

She rushes past him, back to the warp gate that's flooding the hospital with hundreds of injured individuals, mainly Pro Heroes, the ones lucky enough to survive the past few hours at least.

"This place isn't big enough," she says while touching anyone that passes through, making them weightless so the doctors and nurses can easily move their unconscious bodies.

"This warp gate is for the highest priority people, Quirks and people we can't afford to lose…"

After hearing that, over the next ten minutes of transporting people, Uraraka hardly breathes. Each second more terrifying than the last that she'd see one of her friends exit the Warp Gate.

However, for better or worse, none of them exit this warp gate.

And only when it closes do Uravity and Shoto take a moment to breathe, letting their shoulders relax as they sit against the wall outside the hospital.

The entire lobby, from floor to benches were filled with injured people, so they opted to sit against the wall on the floor outside, enjoying the cold morning air.

It takes a few seconds, a few seconds of bliss where Uravity was in full Pro Hero mode, enjoying the lives she saved, before her brain reminds her of Deku's state.

Then that knot in her stomach returns, and almost erupts from her mouth along with her lunch at the memory of his broken body.

'They'll save him, and regenerate his arm, good as new,' she tries to convince herself. But only musters a sad smile as the tears begin flowing again. Then she looks up and to the side, barely seeing the top of Horizon Tower over the nearby buildings.

A determined expression claims her face, but Shoto snuffs out the flicking idea she had.

"He's not in the country," he says, pulling her focus onto him. "But Deku will be fine. Shinso mentioned that Juzo listed him as the 'Priority 1' for this operation. They have a whole tub of Panacea just waiting to dump him into."

"That much?"

"Better safe than sorry," he pulls his knees to his chest and looks down at the ground. "He's the #1 Pro Hero now…"

Uravity snaps out of her worrying for a moment, realizing what he just said. And for the first time since he got here, she truly looked at Shoto.

His Hero Costume was in a worse state than Deku's, but he grabbed a jacket from someone and tossed it on to keep himself modest.

His body was littered with burns and frostbite, blackened flesh that would have to be carved out and regenerated later.

But what most concerned her were the tears flowing down his face.

Not sure what to do, she moves closer to him and pulls his head to lean against her.

After a few minutes, their thoughts settle enough that she feels it's alright to speak, so she does.

"We lost radio contact after you all said the operation was a success. What happened?"

"It was," Shoto says, voice soft and uncertain. "But then it just…it went so wrong. Dad, Bakugo, everyone. The Villains, too. The only classmate who was in the fight that I'm sure survived was Tokoyami. He and Burnin are at one of the other hospitals.

I haven't seen the others since we went to Jaku City. I hope at least a few of them survived that nightmare. Those damn monsters. We couldn't have been ready for that."

A new set of tears begins as Shoto gets a call from Juzo, and gives a verbal report on everything that he can account for, which Uravity hears.

And nearly an hour after that, a nurse steps outside to call them both inside.

They quickly fall into step behind her as she leads them to one of the upper floors, into a private room where Midoriya is lying in bed.

They enter to see him with most of his body bandaged up and his right arm and leg in casts.

His left arm and shoulder are in a specialized cast to monitor the newly regenerated material, and he has wires stuck to his chest and gut to monitor where the holes were.

But Uravity is so happy to see him alive and awake that she lunges to hug him.

Shoto stops her as Midoriya looks up at her from the bed in fear. "No hugs, sorry, everything hurts still."

"Sorry," she reaches out and gently caresses his cheek.

"What happened when I got knocked out?" he asks Shoto. "How long was I out? When are we going back to Japan?"

Shoto looks away and sighs. "Midoriya, we evacuated UA and Musutafu. We lost, they have Japan now."

"What? But, what about—"

"It's over," Shoto says. "This is the story of how the villains won…"
