Chapter 4674: Diversion
Chapter 4674: Diversion
“How can it not be the same? Just listen to me! You won’t go wrong,” the Demon King insisted, a note of desperation creeping into his voice. “I truly wish to meet her, but I’m afraid she won’t even come!” The Demon Queen merely offered a light smile, clearly not taking his anxieties to heart.
Feng Jiu listened to their exchange for a moment longer, a plan forming in her mind. She quietly retreated into the deeper shadows, retrieved a talisman from her spatial storage, and with a subtle flick of her wrist, sent it flying. A moment later, her voice echoed from the direction she had just vacated, amplified and chilling: “Hand over my people!”
The command reverberated through the underground palace, laced with an icy, murderous intent. Instantly, the hundred or so demons gathered in the cavern were jolted by surprise and scattered in disarray. “No! It must be Feng Jiu!” Panic flared in the Demon King’s voice. He had no desire to become an enemy of Feng Jiu, let alone engage her in battle. If she had indeed breached their defenses…
“What are you afraid of? I will go and meet her,” the Demon Queen scoffed. She addressed the smaller demons with a dismissive wave of her hand. “Leave a few to keep watch. The rest of you, come with me!”
“Yes, Your Majesty!” the demons chorused, falling into a disorganized line behind their queen as she swept towards the passage leading further into the underground complex. Once they had all disappeared from view, Feng Jiu moved with lightning speed, flashing forward to where Du Fan and Leng Hua hung suspended. With swift, precise movements of her sharp blade, she dispatched the two demons guarding them, and a pulse of energy from the Blue Edge severed the restraints.
“You… you… you…” The Demon King, who had been sitting and sighing in anxious anticipation, suddenly saw a flash of red. He recoiled in surprise, but as his eyes focused, he saw a figure clad in vibrant crimson, possessing a strikingly beautiful face framed by an air of quiet composure, yet radiating a powerful and captivating aura. Though he had never laid eyes on Feng Jiu before, he knew instinctively that this woman could be none other than the legendary ghost doctor.
“You… you are that Ghost Doctor, Feng Jiu?” the Demon King stammered, his misty features gradually coalescing, revealing a face that was not particularly handsome, bordering on slightly unsettling. At this moment, however, his gaze was fixed solely on Feng Jiu.
Feng Jiu ignored his hesitant inquiry. Instead, she swiftly pinched the philtrum acupoints of Leng Hua and Du Fan, rousing them from their unconscious state. Had she not been concerned that the demons might inflict further harm upon them, she wouldn’t have wasted even a single talisman to create a diversion.
“Master?” The two men blinked, disoriented for a moment, before quickly righting themselves. They found their legs slightly numb and tingly, as if their circulation had been restricted.
“It’s good that you’re awake,” Feng Jiu said, her gaze then turning to the Demon King. “Based on what you were saying earlier, there is someone who intends to use you to harm me? Do you know their identity?”
As she spoke, she slowly advanced, the sharp tip of the Blue Edge tracing a line on the stone floor with each deliberate step. The Demon King, while not weak himself, had no desire to antagonize Feng Jiu. He wanted to avoid a confrontation at all costs. “Let’s talk, let’s talk,” he urged hastily.
“I want to know the identity of the people you were just discussing!” Feng Jiu demanded, her voice leaving no room for evasion.
“They…” The Demon King began to answer, but his words were abruptly cut short by a sudden commotion erupting from the passage behind him.
“Kill them!” the Demon Queen’s shrill voice echoed through the cavern, followed by a surge of smaller demons charging forward.
Du Fan and Leng Hua were initially caught off guard by the sudden attack, clearly not expecting such brazen aggression. Seeing the horde of demons descending upon them, Du Fan sneered. “Let’s see who kills whom!” he declared, with a swift flick of his wrist, he opened the fan he held, and a sharp blade of compressed air shot forth towards the advancing demons.
What do you think?
