Chapter 4603: Broken Promise
Chapter 4603: Broken Promise
His hands were pale and aged, a stark contrast to his youthful face. Veins pulsed beneath the thin, wrinkled skin, speckled with dark age spots. As he moved his hands, visible air currents formed, whistling through the air. With each deliberate movement, these currents intensified, then erupted forward, aimed with blinding speed towards the Sect Master.
“Whoosh!”
“Hooooooo!”
The air currents, accompanied by a sharp sound, tore through the air, striking the disciples on both sides of the battle and then the Sect Master.
“Arghhhhh!”
The disciples were thrown back, screaming in agony. The Sect Master, unable to block the attack, coughed up blood and was hurled several metres back, landing heavily with a loud thud.
“Ughhh!”
After letting out a muffled groan, blood was surging chaotically in his chest and he could not help but spat out a mouthful of blood as blood continued gurgling out of his mount and spilling down his chin.
“Sect Master!”
“Sect Master!”
Alarmed cries echoed thoughout. The fighting abruptly ceased as both sides witnessed the Sect Master’s injury. The Black Mountain Sect members retreated behind their leader.
He paid no heed to the Black Mountain disciples who had fallen. Their lives, in his eyes, were as insignificant as ants.
The Old Mountain Demon slowly advanced. With each step, the sect members retreated, until they were pressed against the wall. They watched, pale-faced, as he approached, their hearts in disarray.
The elders watched him, towering over the fallen Sect Master. Yet, no one dared to help. They held their breath, watching tensely.
“Do you want to die? Or do you want to hand over those people?” A sinister voice, laced with murderous intent, addressed the Sect Master. A chilling laugh escaped him.
The Sect Master’s heart pounded. He couldn’t bring himself to betray the children, not in front of his people.
He desperately wanted to save himself and the sect, but he couldn’t utter their names.
Anxiety and fear warred within him. Finally, he glanced at the Grand Elder, then, as if overwhelmed by his injuries, he fainted, spitting out another mouthful of blood.
“Sect Master!”
The Grand Elder, aware of the Sect Master’s plan, quickly stepped forward. Seeing the unconscious Sect Master, he spoke. “Old Mountain Demon, you want the children and the beast. Why make things difficult for our sect? We’ve done our best to protect them. If you promise to leave and never return, we’ll hand them over!”
What do you think?
