Chapter 189 189: Clumsy care.
Mo Yuxin was about to stop Su Yubing, but she took out a very familiar alchemy furnace, made a gesture, and a "Samadhi True Fire" emerged. She stared at the furnace intently, and with a flick of her wrist, she threw the required spiritual herbs into the furnace and made one alchemy gesture after another. Her spiritual power was rising and falling, but like a candle in the wind, it would go out in the blink of an eye.
"Feed me." Su Yubing said.
"Ah?" Mo Yuxin was slightly stunned. Although she was not good at alchemy, she knew a thing or two. She had never seen an alchemist make it this way. And the spiritual power in Su Yubing's body—thinking of this, Mo Yuxin frowned again.
"Fuck." Seeing Mo Yuxin standing in a daze, Su Yubing turned to look at her, with a hint of helplessness in her tone.
Mo Yuxin finally reacted and hurriedly passed the Fuling Grass in the storage bag to Su Yubing's lips. She was a little absent-minded and kept passing it until Su Yubing's tongue rolled over her fingertips. Mo Yuxin suddenly realized it and locked her hand back as if she had been electrocuted. She seemed to see Su Yubing's smile, but when she looked at Su Yubing carefully, she saw that she was concentrating on her work, and naturally had no time to pay attention to such a small matter.
It was not easy for Su Yubing to refine the pills. The pain in her limbs reminded her all the time that her meridians had been broken long ago. Before she retrieved her demon essence, she could not heal on her own. The pills now were only used to relieve her body from collapsing. After swallowing the blood that was gushing out, she increased the speed of eating the soul-restoring grass. When the pill furnace began to buzz and ten pills flew out of it, Su Yubing's face turned pale and her body trembled constantly. She was soaking wet, as if she had just been fished out of the water.
"You—"
Mo Yuxin hurriedly caught the exhausted Su Yubing, and with her left hand, she put the floating elixir into the jade bottle. She lowered her eyes and looked at the person in her arms. Su Yubing's black hair was scattered, sticking to her cheeks and resting on her red clothes, which was shocking. Her cheeks were as pale as snow, and her long eyelashes trembled, and a drop of crystal tears rolled down, fragile and pitiful. She shouldn't be like this. Mo Yuxin felt a little sour in her heart, and she couldn't help but feel sad.
"Are you stupid?" Su Yubing was silent for a long time before she lazily opened her narrow eyes and said, "Feed me, pills."
Mo Yuxin came back to her senses and thought of the warm and soft touch. Her earlobes turned red. With a flick of her fingertips, she took out a pill and put it into Su Yubing's mouth.
Even though she knew Su Yubing's bad character, Mo Yuxin was still shocked by Su Yubing's actions.
Su Yubing pushed Mo Yuxin away, staggered a few steps, held onto the table, and coughed loudly. Tears flowed down in large drops, and the crimson at the end of her eyes became more and more intense, like red flower juice. After a long while, she glanced at Mo Yuxin and complained, "You really don't know how to take care of people."
"Sorry." Mo Yuxin frowned slightly and spoke in annoyance. She stared at Su Yubing, "You are not in a good condition to make pills by yourself."
"That's my unique recipe, I won't pass it on to outsiders." Su Yubing snorted. After taking the pill, her vitality gradually became stronger. She leaned against the table, folded her arms and said, "Don't you know how to refine a weapon? A weapon is a formation, and a pill is also a formation. If you refine a pill furnace and spontaneously carve a pill formation when the pill is formed, then I don't need to do it myself, right?"
Mo Yuxin pondered for a while and sighed, "It's easier said than done."
Su Yubing waved cheerfully toward Mo Yuxin.
Not quite understanding the gesture, Mo Yuxin walked over. With a mischievous smile, Su Yubing raised her hand and gently touched Mo Yuxin's red earlobe. "Dear sister," she said playfully, "just think of it as feeling sorry for me. Don't worry—I'll take good care of Moonlit Peak for you!"
It was easy for Su Yubing to make such promises, but truly refining a magical instrument like this would require abundant precious materials and vast amounts of energy. Even if successful, it might only allow her to create that specific type of elixir in the future.
Su Yubing had been watching Mo Yuxin's face closely. When she noticed a flicker of emotion, a small smile tugged at her lips. Swiftly, she produced a jade slip and declared, "This is the recipe for the Nine-Turn Huiyuan Pill. It outlines a method for controlling fire along with ninety-nine sets of spiritual pattern formations."
Mo Yuxin glanced down at the jade slip that Su Yubing had almost shoved into her arms, then met Su Yubing's gaze. She swallowed hard, holding back any words of refusal—she couldn't bear the thought of disappointing Su Yubing.
Refining the Nine-Turn Huiyuan Pill Self-generating Furnace was far more demanding than repairing ordinary magic tools. Mo Yuxin needed to retreat to the Earth Fire Heaven Furnace to master a delicate control over the flames. She scanned through the case documents; the major issues had already been settled over the past few days, and the remaining details were trivial enough that even Su Yubing handling them wouldn't cause any major problems. At worst, several junior sisters and brothers might be inconvenienced. With these thoughts swirling in her mind, Mo Yuxin set about her retreat, fully intent on refining the tool.
Meanwhile, Su Yubing—ever the carefree spirit on shanglong Peak—had, in a drunken haze, fulfilled a duty only a caring mother would: she went to pick up her daughter, Luwuqi, from school.
At the school, most of the students were young monks under the age of twelve, with the smallest being under five. Initially shy, Luwuqi soon became as lively as a fish in water. Her little group of followers grew from a solitary friend, Xiao Hua, to a lively band of children.
"Mother, they all get beaten by me!" Luwuqi boasted proudly upon seeing Su Yubing. Despite being only ten years old, Luwuqi's exceptional abilities shone through—abilities that Su Yubing hadn't fully taught her before she entered Cangran.
Su Yubing ruffled Luwuqi's hair affectionately and said, "You already have the spirit of your mother in you."
Encouraged, Luwuqi's eyes sparkled with determination. She clenched her fists and nodded, "I'll do my very best!"
"Indeed," Su Yubing replied with a satisfied smile as her gaze swept over the group of lively youngsters before finally settling on Xiao Hua. Narrowing her eyes playfully, she asked softly, "And how are things at the academy? No one asking you to be their guest?"
"I don't want to go," Luwuqi mumbled, tugging at the hem of her clothes in a bashful tone.
Being in class all day left her with little time to spend with her mother—what if Su Yubing passed out again from drinking when she wasn't there to watch over her? Luwuqi felt the weight of that responsibility on her small shoulders.
"No, you want to go," Su Yubing said firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument. "Xiao Hua invited you, didn't she?"
Xiao Hua, timid as ever, shrank her head and nodded.
Noticing Luwuqi's embarrassed expression at her mother's firm tone, Su Yubing chuckled, "Let's go together." She tapped the paper crane that was scheduled to pick up Luwuqi from Moonlit Peak and quickly changed its destination to Yuan Peak. Gently, she lifted Luwuqi onto the crane. Covering her lips with a brief cough, she swallowed a pill as Luwuqi watched with worried eyes.
At Yuan Peak, Tianji Yuan was busy maintaining the spiritual field disrupted by her rebellious Sword Spirit. Money was tight lately, and she couldn't even afford to buy her beloved a divine instrument. Thinking of her sweet and beautiful Bai Lingshu, her beloved, she couldn't help but be eager to go to Lingshu peak again.
But she has already been neglectful towards her own peak for quite some time and Bai Lingshu herself reprimanded her saying that she wouldn't let her touch her until she filled all the work of her peak that should be done and also teach her dumb disciple.
Thinking that she wouldn't be able to hug her beloved and sleep in her arms, Tianji Yuan felt helpless again as continuous sighs escaped from her mouth.
"Yuan Jun," came a timid voice. Xiao Hua, still too young to revere Tianji Yuan as her master, spoke from Yuan Peak.
Tianji Yuan waved to Xiao Hua, signaling her to go play as usual. But then she looked up and spotted Su Yubing and Luwuqi descending from the paper crane, and her eyebrows arched in surprise. "Hmm? Senior Sister Su, are you here for the spiritual herbs? Or are you feeling under the weather?"
Su Yubing replied calmly, "It was Xiao Hua who invited Luwuqi and me to visit Yuan Peak."
Xiao Hua beamed happily at Luwuqi.
Tianji Yuan, brushing off dust and debris from her attire, glanced at the cluster of little ones and said, "You kids go play first." Then, turning to Su Yubing, she added, "Senior Sister Su, please."
Tianji Yuan brewed a pot of fragrant spiritual tea. However, Su Yubing, ever cautious, refrained from drinking the tea from Yuan Peak. Instead, she withdrew a small jade medicine bottle from her sleeve and took a hearty sip. The potent liquor, burning like a flame, eased the pain in her body almost invisibly.
Tianji Yuan assumed it was a wine-flavored elixir concocted by Su Yubing. With a smile, she remarked, "Senior Sister Su, it's rare to see you leave shanglong Peak."
"Before Mo Yuxin went into seclusion, I couldn't move much. Now that she's emerged, I seem to be stuck," Su Yubing replied vaguely. Tianji Yuan understood the implication but refrained from any negative comment about Mo Yuxin, instead smiling and saying, "Second Senior Sister is thinking of you, too. By the way, when will you visit Medicine Valley?"
"What for? I'm not headed to Medicine Valley," Su Yubing shook her head, quickly changing the topic to avoid Tianji Yuan's persistent nagging.
"Xiao Hua has been in school for fifty years and still hasn't graduated. Is something amiss with her?"
