Chapter 6229: The Treasure’s True Form
“Stop, Chu Feng! Do you intend to kill Old Cat?” Lord Zhenlong asked Chu Feng.
Chu Feng didn’t say a word, but his determined eyes answered that question. His hands maintained a firm grip on the copper cauldron as he channeled his bloodline power into it. The green light beam restraining Old Cat changed, and Old Cat was sucked into the cauldron.
Unable to stop Chu Feng, Lord Zhenlong could only watch helplessly as Old Cat disappeared into the cauldron. From his viewpoint, he saw Old Cat swiftly disintegrating inside the cauldron.
“You scoundrel, Chu Feng! How dare you help those ingrates? I won’t spare you even as a ghost!” Old Cat’s initial miserable cries turned into furious howls, but soon, his voice weakened till there was no more sound.
Lord Zhenlong shook his head in regret. Knowing no words could change the situation now, he looked at Chu Feng and sighed, “You’re a fool, Chu Feng.”
With that, he took his leave.
Chu Feng descended to the ground as the cauldron reverted to its original size.
The Ancient Era’s War Clansmen, including their clan chief, rushed to his side. The clan chief snatched the copper cauldron over and carefully examined it. Other than the remnants of Old Cat’s aura, splatters of blood, and bits of clothes, there was nothing inside it.
The copper cauldron had completely broken down Old Cat.
Upon confirming their victory, the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen exhaled in relief.“Lord Clan Chief, what do we do about that Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist?” the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen asked.
“We’ll let it go since he is young friend Chu Feng’s acquaintance. We won’t pursue this matter as long as he doesn’t attack us anymore,” the clan chief said as he eyed Chu Feng.
Chu Feng was staring at the copper cauldron in a daze. He looked conflicted, unsure whether he had done the right thing or not.
“Young friend Chu Feng, I sense your dilemma, but there’s nothing to worry about. That cat demon claimed he was our treasure, but the truth will be evident once I show you our treasure. Young friends, come with me.”
The severely wounded clan chief brought Chu Feng, Little Fishy, and Xianhai Shaoyu toward the treasure, and the Ancient Era’s War Clan’s experts followed suit.
It didn’t take long before they returned to the palace.
The clan chief stopped not far from where Chu Feng and the others landed when they first arrived in this formation realm. He formed a hand seal, and a glowing talisman emerged from his soul.
“A bloodline formation hidden in the soul; it must be a hereditary formation,” Eggy remarked.
The clan chief activated the talisman, and a faint golden light enveloped him. He directed his palm toward the ceiling and roared, “Open!”
A spirit formation gate appeared.
Cu Feng and the others entered the spirit formation gate, where they found themselves in a passageway leading upward. Terrifying energy suffused the passageway. It was the energy that Jie Shanxian struggled to overcome.
However, the golden light emanating from the clan chief protected Chu Feng and the others from the energy’s terror.
“Follow me.”
The clan chief glanced at Chu Feng and the others before flying upward.
The passageway felt like a pathway to heaven, though the illusion was swiftly shattered when Chu Feng and the others reached the end of the path. There, they were met with a huge gate that towered over ten thousand meters.
The gate was locked. The lock was a formation more formidable than the black wall, and it was in perfect condition.
The clan chief conjured a glowing rune and fused it into the lock.
The lock opened.
The rune was the key to the formation. It was likely a means passed down from the Ancient Era’s War Clan’s founder through generations of clan chiefs.
On the other side of the gate was a formation realm.
This formation realm was filled to the brim with that terrifying energy. It was hard to tell how big the realm was because the surroundings were shrouded in a thick fog. This fog must have been produced by a formation as Chu Feng couldn’t see through it with his means.
Still, he spotted a faint light pillar in the fog connecting the ground to the sky. It was a formation passageway. It seemed to be the formation passageway Jie Shanxian opened with her treasure.
The clan chief formed a hand seal, and the fog receded. It didn’t take long before Chu Feng and the others got to see the formation realm in its full glory.
The formation realm was humongous; its scale was comparable to the formation realm where the Ancient Era’s War Clan resided. However, this place didn’t feel suitable for anyone to live in, not just because of the terrifying energy but the surroundings too.
The sky was covered in dark clouds. The ground was withered and cracked. There was no life to be seen. It felt empty and stifling.
In the distance, countless massive mountains rose above the dark clouds, making it impossible to see their full forms. These mountains occupied the bulk of this formation realm.
Chu Feng and the others were taken aback, for they could tell that those mountains were, in fact, bones.
The terrifying energy suffusing the formation realm came from none other than the bones. Now that the fog was no longer around, the energy became stronger than ever. Resentful voices that sounded like they were from vengeful spirits could be vaguely heard from the energy.
It was clear as day that the energy was the manifestation of resentment.
Chu Feng and the others turned to the Ancient Era’s War Clan’s Clan Chief. The latter looked back at them with a smile.
“As you can see, the cat demon was telling the truth. This is his carcass.”
What do you think?
