Chapter 161: 162: Saved Once Again
Chapter 161: Chapter 162: Saved Once Again
“Kidnapped?” Gu Fuzhu’s face showed shock; she frantically searched around inside the car, “Where’s my cousin?”
“She’s at the back; probably will return later,” Xu Ying said weakly. Agitated for almost an entire evening, her stomach rumbled with hunger, but more than that, she worried about her family.
Huo Chen drove the car at top speed, leaving the driver and Gu Fuzhu behind them with blurred vision, feeling dizzy.
The car went straight to Xujia Village.
Mr. Xu and Mrs. Xu were sleeping soundly at home when they abruptly heard their daughter’s voice and woke up in alarm.
“Did you hear our daughter’s voice?”
“I did. Could it really be her?”
“Hey, what are you doing standing around? Hurry up and get up; it’s so late, something must have happened if our daughter has come back.” Mrs. Xu, anxious, slipped on her coat and ran out.
Mr. Xu, also worried, didn’t even have time to put on a coat and quickly overtook Mrs. Xu to open the front door.
Upon seeing the people outside clearly, Mr. Xu’s face instantly darkened, “What’s going on here? What happened?”
Mrs. Xu followed, running over. Her eyes widened as she saw Huo Chen holding their daughter in a way that seemed rather intimate; she exploded with anger.
“Huo Chen, are you bullying my daughter? Put her down now.”
Huo Chen’s expression was somber, “Which is her room? Let’s put her in her room first, then talk.”
Hearing that, Mr. Xu quickly led him to the daughter’s room.
As Huo Chen entered the room, he caught a faint scent and his expression softened a bit.
Xu Ying had already fainted.
Huo Chen carefully laid her down and covered her with the blanket before leaving the room, then he explained the situation.
Upon hearing that her daughter had been kidnapped, Mrs. Xu’s heart twisted in anxiety, looking fervently at Huo Chen, “Is my daughter okay? Did those people harm her?”
Mr. Xu’s face was also filled with concern, sharing the same worries as Mrs. Xu.
Gu Fuzhu sat in the main room, her face pale with fright, checking over her own body before letting out a sigh of relief.
“Xu Ying is safe now. We arrived just in time; those people are probably at the police station by now. Don’t be afraid; the police will definitely interrogate and arrest the instigator,” Huo Chen assured.
Mrs. Xu sighed and looked at Huo Chen with immense gratitude; this young man had saved her daughter numerous times.
“Comrade, where is my cousin? What about her?” Gu Fuzhu asked, anxious.
“She’s with my friend; they should be back later.”
Huo Chen’s expression seemed particularly stern without any emotion, which startled Gu Fuzhu. After hearing her cousin was fine, she quickly nodded and sat down meekly, somewhat afraid.
“Miss, I’m really sorry for involving you and your sister in this,” Mr. Xu said to Gu Fuzhu, expressing his apologies.
Gu Fuzhu hurriedly shook her head; she had heard about what happened to Xu Ying. She’s a brave girl, a kind one.
This time, it was just that those people were too despicable.
“It’s okay. It’s the Wu family that have been outrageously bold,” Gu Fuzhu said with an angry face when mentioning the Wu family. She felt sorry for the girls and decided she must tell her father when she returned home, to severely punish those criminals.
“Miss, are you hungry? Wait a moment; I’ll go to the kitchen and cook some eggs for you,” Mrs. Xu said with a smile, her mood lifted upon hearing her daughter was safe.
Gu Fuzhu, seeing how late it was, quickly declined, “Auntie, please, don’t trouble yourself.” Then she looked pleadingly at Huo Chen, “Comrade, can you send me back? It’s so late, and I’m afraid my parents will worry.”
Huo Chen gave the driver a cold look; the driver immediately understood, patted his chest, and said, “I’ll take this young lady home.”
He also needed to rush back to face the criticism from the factory manager; having disappeared for an entire day, he could only imagine the manager must be furious.
The driver certainly had his own troubles that he couldn’t articulate.
Gu Fuzhu followed the driver back to the county.
Gu Fuying had returned earlier, as Wu Qingsong found the vehicle and directly took her home.
At this moment, Gu Fuying was at home being criticized.
Mr. and Mrs. Gu were furious, “As a young lady, you don’t even think to come home this late. What about your cousin? You’ve been causing trouble together with her.”
Gu Fuying didn’t have a chance to explain at all.
Mrs. Gu was livid, finding her daughter had been brought back by a man; anyone seeing their daughter not coming home till night with a man would be enraged.
“Who was that man just now? Is he your boyfriend?”
“Mom, don’t talk nonsense,” Gu Fuying’s face flushed with a touch of crimson.
As someone with experience, Mrs. Gu understood all too well what her daughter’s reaction meant—she definitely had feelings for that man.
And what about that man? Returning with her daughter so late, were they discussing being in a relationship?
“Where is that man from? Who is his family?” Mrs. Gu asked with a cold face.
It was Third Uncle Gu who couldn’t help but speak up: “Second sister-in-law, don’t be anxious. The child is grown up and has her own ideas. Let her explain it to you slowly.”
Gu Fuying eagerly nodded, Third Uncle was right after all, “I’m not dating him; I only got back because he saved me.”
“What? What happened? What’s wrong with you today?” The anger on Mr. Gu’s face instantly turned to concern.
Even Third Uncle Gu and Third Aunt Gu’s expressions changed. Now that Fuying had returned, what about their daughter?
Mrs. Gu was also surprised and quickly rushed towards her daughter, examining her all over, “What happened? Did you get hurt today, has anyone bullied you? Where is your cousin, where is she?”
When Gu Fuying brought up the subject, she looked utterly wronged, her lips quivered and tears cascaded down her cheeks, “Mom, Dad, you almost didn’t get to see me today.
My cousin, Yingying and I were walking when suddenly someone knocked us out and kidnapped us.”
Mr. Gu felt his heart miss a beat.
Mrs. Gu’s eyes reddened instantly, holding back words as she looked at her daughter.
“What about your cousin?” Third Aunt Gu couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Thankfully, Wu Qingsong and the others showed up in time, otherwise, my reputation would’ve been ruined,” Gu Fuying said, sobbing intermittently. She wiped away her tears and continued, “My cousin is fine, she was rescued right at the beginning.”
Third Aunt Gu breathed a sigh of relief.
Mr. Gu glanced at his wife and signaled her with his eyes.
Mrs. Gu understood what her husband meant and quickly brought her daughter back to their room.
There were some things that a father couldn’t conveniently say, but a mother could speak without reserve. It was also a good opportunity to give her daughter some guidance.
“Third brother, sister-in-law, I’m taking Fuying back to our room to sleep now. You guys have a good chat.”
Third Aunt Gu still wanted to ask about her daughter, but considering what Gu Fuying had been through, her husband tugged at her, clearly not wanting her to continue asking.
Third Aunt Gu had no choice but to close her mouth, but she was still anxious. Since her daughter was fine and already rescued, where had she been?
“There’s someone knocking.” Third Aunt Gu jumped up at the sound and hurried to open the door.
Seeing her daughter return, Third Aunt Gu’s eyes filled with tears, she touched her daughter’s hair tenderly, full of reproach: “Why did you come back only now? Do you know your father and I were worried sick?”
What do you think?
