As she walked out of the house, Ye Xinyue turned to take one last look at the man she had once loved with all her heart. 

Seeing how heartbroken he was, she lowered her eyes to hide her emotions and turned to leave. This time, she didn't look back.

The moment she turned around, Feng Chen couldn't stop himself from turning to look at her. Watching her leave in another man's arms, he knelt down and covered his tear-streaked face.

"Yue'er, why? Just why? Why don't you trust me?" he sobbed.

When Grandpa Feng and Grandma Feng saw their son crying so sadly, they couldn't utter a single word of comfort and stood there, unmoving.

Grandma Feng wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes silently, while Grandpa Feng kept sighing and shook his head with regret.

Meanwhile, He Xieyu led his wife to the entrance of the village and helped her get into the car. Sitting in the back seat, he handed a handkerchief to his wife and said nothing. He only hugged her and patted her hand gently.

At this moment, the two of them needed some time to think everything over. Just now, he could see that his wife was reluctant to leave and still had feelings for her ex-husband.

Even though he was unwilling to let her go, if that's what she wanted, he would fulfill her wish. After all, he had indeed taken advantage of her weakness during the period when she lost her memories.

When they first got married, he had even thought of using their children to tie her to his side. But after spending three years as husband and wife, he no longer wanted to use their children to chain her freedom.

She was a wonderful person, and she deserved to be loved and respected.

As for himself, he wanted to change into a man worthy of her love—even though her love for him might only last for three years. His hands were never clean, and he was never a good person. 

Only in front of her could he return to his naïve self. She was a light that walked into his dark life without warning and brought warmth to his heart.

Ye Xinyue had long stopped crying and leaned on her husband's chest. After she cried out all her grievances and suppressed emotions, she felt better.

She thought she would feel worse after regaining her memories or meeting her ex-husband. Unexpectedly, after she regained her memories, she felt as if a huge stone pressing on her heart had finally been lifted. All her doubts and confusion had finally found answers.

From now on, she would truly be able to start anew with He Xieyu. There would be no more shadow of another man between them. Even if she loved Feng Lin, she understood that her son would be happier living with his grandparents.

As his mother, she had failed him. Now, all she could do was support his decisions and do her best to help and protect him from behind. No matter what happened in the future, Feng Lin would always be her son.

After reaching this conclusion, she raised her head and saw her husband lost in thought. She stretched out her hand and touched his unshaven chin.

Feeling the soft touch on his chin, He Xieyu lowered his head and asked, "Wife, what's wrong?"

Ye Xinyue stared at him for a moment before replying with a smile, "Husband, thank you for never giving up on me and holding me tightly. Thank you for accompanying me to find myself."

Hearing her words, He Xieyu was surprised. He had thought of countless possibilities, but he had never expected her to thank him.

He leaned closer, and with their foreheads touching, he whispered, "Wife, I will do anything for you, as long as you are happy."

Looking into her husband's deep eyes, Ye Xinyue raised her head, kissed his lips, and whispered, "He Xieyu, my greatest blessing in this life is meeting you and marrying you. I love you so much, more than my past, present, and future."

He Xieyu was stunned by his wife's sudden confession. After a moment, he hugged her and said, "Ye Xinyue, thank you for choosing me. Wife, I love you."

Sitting in the driver's seat, the assistant didn't dare glance at the rearview mirror and kept his eyes focused on the road. This time, they didn't go to the hotel in the county town but instead returned to the city.

The vice mayor had taken a few days off, and he couldn't be delayed any longer. When they returned, they would have to work overtime for several weeks to catch up with work.

But seeing that the vice mayor and his wife's relationship was improving, the overtime would be worth it. 

At least from now on, they wouldn't have to walk on thin ice constantly. With no third party in their marriage, their vice mayor would be as happy as a lark every day. Maybe they would be able to get more bonuses this year.

Meanwhile, Mother Lu, Lu Han, Chen Anwen, and Zhang Ermu finally arrived at the county town's hospital. When they neared the entrance, Zhang Ermu parked the cart on the roadside and helped them unload the bamboo baskets and bags.

Afterward, he said, "Aunt Lu, when do you plan to go back to the village? I can come to pick you up."

Mother Lu was flattered by his words and replied, "Nephew, there is no need to bother you. We will go back by ourselves later. Thank you for your help today."

Hearing this, Zhang Ermu nodded and said, "It's not a bother at all. Then I will take my leave first."

After a brief conversation, he turned the cart and drove back to Xie Village while the Lu family walked into the hospital.

When they were in the lobby, Lu Han said, "Mother, please wait here. I will go ask for the room number." 

"Okay," Mother Lu nodded and took a seat.
