LOWKEY INTERSTELLER CAPTAIN

Chapter 26: The Road to Sovereignty

The Aftermath of Battle

The remnants of House Marrik’s fleet had fled, leaving behind only debris and the echoes of their defeat. News of Chen Bo’s overwhelming victory had spread like wildfire across the Empire, striking fear into noble families who once saw him as nothing more than a relic of a fallen house. But none of them knew the truth—that Void Sovereign had reawakened and stood hidden in the shadows, silently regaining its former brilliance.

On the bridge of his flagship, Chen Bo stared at the vast wreckage field. The sight did not bring him joy, only determination. This was only the first step.

Captain Orin approached him with a solemn expression. “House Marrik will not be the last to challenge your claim, my lord. The Empire is already watching.”

Chen Bo nodded. “Let them watch. We will rise while they plot.”

Territorial Expansion and Reconstruction

With his first major victory, Chen Bo wasted no time. The shipyards in his territory, though crumbling and outdated, were rapidly undergoing reconstruction. Thanks to Void Sovereign’s technological database, he now had access to advanced blueprints for various types of warships. However, resources were still a major hurdle.

Chen Bo’s strategy was clear:

  1. Secure Trade Routes – He dispatched fleets to eliminate pirates and reestablish trade routes to bring in essential resources.
  2. Rebuild Shipyards – His engineers, using blueprints from Void Sovereign, began upgrading his shipbuilding facilities to produce modern destroyers, cruisers, and battleships.
  3. Develop the Territory – Infrastructure projects, including planetary defenses, energy stations, and advanced manufacturing hubs, were initiated.
  4. Gather Allies – He secretly reached out to independent merchant guilds and minor noble houses oppressed by the great families, offering them protection in exchange for resources and loyalty.

But there were greater dangers ahead.

Imperial Politics and the Brewing Storm

The Empire was vast, comprising twelve major provinces, each ruled by a dominant noble house. At the heart of it was the capital province, controlled by the Celestial Imperial Family, with the Prime Dominion standing as the true center of power.

Chen Bo’s victory had rattled the great houses, but one house in particular had taken special interest—House Xian, the most powerful noble family after the emperor’s own bloodline.

Duke Xian Long, the head of the Xian family, had received an urgent report from his spies.

“Chen Bo survived and has begun reclaiming his family’s lost power. He is no longer the weakling we believed him to be.”

Xian Long’s eyes narrowed. “His father was once a threat to our dominion. If the son follows in his footsteps, we must crush him before he becomes a true danger.”

Orders were given. A grand scheme was in motion.

Aeliana’s Betrayal Resurfaces

Amidst his political maneuvering, Chen Bo received a surprising message, Aeliana wished to meet.

Despite knowing she had betrayed him, Chen Bo agreed to the meeting, suspecting an ulterior motive. The encounter took place on a neutral station, where Aeliana arrived in luxurious attire, her demeanor composed yet hesitant.

“Chen Bo…” she began softly. “You’ve changed.”

“You expected me to remain the naive fool you and Xian Ren played with?” His voice was cold.

Aeliana flinched. “I made mistakes, but the game we played was beyond my control. You don’t understand the forces at work.”

“I understand plenty,” he replied. “You chose power over loyalty. And now you crawl back because you see my rise.”

Aeliana sighed, a flicker of regret in her eyes. “If you don’t stop, you will be destroyed. House Xian has already moved against you.”

Chen Bo’s expression remained unreadable. “Let them come. They will learn the meaning of true power.”

Void Sovereign’s Awakening and Future Plans

As Chen Bo left the meeting, his mind was already focused on the future. Void Sovereign had absorbed more fragments, its systems restoring themselves at an accelerated rate. The ship now offered upgraded schematics that, when built, would allow him to dominate space warfare.

However, Void Sovereign’s full potential was still locked behind its Upgrade Protocol, requiring a vast number of resources and rare components.

Chen Bo reviewed the requirements:

  1. Dark Star Cores – Ultra-rare energy sources found in collapsed star remnants.
  2. Titanium-Z9 Alloy – A near-indestructible material used in supercapital ships.
  3. Quantum Neural Matrices – Artificial intelligence cores required to reactivate Void Sovereign’s tactical combat functions.

Each item was beyond difficult to obtain, but Chen Bo was undeterred. He would seek them out, dominate his enemies, and rebuild his lost legacy.

As he stood on the bridge of his command ship, looking at the vast void before him, he knew—

This was only the beginning of his conquest.
