Case 335: Internet Goddess Sylvia.

They say IT citizens are monstrous.

By that, I mean they have the reputation of being able to do outrageous things even under stress. This time, too, the programmers and engineers back in Everwood have outdone themselves.

They made YouTube in just a few days.

Okay, that in itself isn't too hard, considering we can just copy the original thing, but they have managed to integrate that into the primary social media platform flawlessly. Moreover, the videos' fluidness and resolution are insane!

Somehow, those aliens back in my country have found a way to not only make high-resolution cameras—the likes that are capable of recording 4k and above—but pack them into a small device and not make it melt into lava after a while.

How? Magic!

So there is that, but Sylvia, what about storage and signal transmission issues? Surely, it would be difficult not only to store but also to stream 4k videos with ninety frames per second as the baseline, right?

Well, I mean... magic.

Yeah, I'm serious. With magic, a lot of the issues listed above and some more are completely alleviated, giving the people of this world a viewing experience that seems almost unreal.

As someone who is used to switching between four-eighty and seven-twenty pixels to save data or if I had bad wifi, this feels criminal.

No, really. It feels illegal to watch videos this smoothly and crisply. How did they even make these screens...?

''I have to say, they improved quite a bit.'' Tina, who is also examining the new generation smartphones with me, remarks. ''This is a significant upgrade to what we have.''

For context, the phones we have been using have quite standard hardware compared to those on Earth, which I already thought was impressive. 

''What a waste... if we had this technology back then, those videos would have been so good.''

Of course, without spelling it out loud, everybody in the room seems to have realized what Liana is talking about. Well, what else can this pervert think of?

Nonetheless, now that the playfield has been set, it is time for me to really establish my presence and gain some worship points. The first step is, obviously, creating an account.

I mean, I'll just use the same account that Luna used to sign up for the social media page, but some information still needs to be provided. For example, a channel name...

''[Sylvia Everwood - Goddess of Lust]... isn't this a bit blatant?''

Peeking over my shoulder, Anna lets out a slight purr.

''If I'm going to be worshipped as a Goddess of Lust anyway, it's better to state that right at the start, no?'' I reply. ''People will get used to it in no time, I promise.''

Look, I'm a firm believer in the thought that cultures don't change across time—they evolve. Take Earth's civilization, for instance. At some point in history, we had cancel culture, and we still have it to this day.

Something tells me the people of this world will behave similarly to Earthlings—just a hunch.

So, I promptly finalize that name and move on to another important section—avatar and wallpaper. Because this is more or less YouTube, choosing appropriate pictures for those elements should make an impact.

Thankfully, I've prepared both of them beforehand. Since we will run this channel for a long time—hopefully—I thought I should choose a simple theme, and nothing is more iconic than divinity itself. In other words, a deity concept.

A nicely photographed picture of my face at a 3/4 angle for the avatar and a slightly eye-catchy painting of myself in a stained glass style. Unsurprisingly, given how pretty Eva made my face, the page looks quite good.

''Now then, I guess it's time for the introductory video.''

Admittedly, I'm a bit excited, but at the same time, it is a bit hard to start simply because this is going to be the video everyone will see even in the far, far future. I can't make any mistake here.

''Tina, please make me look pretty!'' I immediately call the fashion queen—Tina.

''You already are the prettiest in the world.'' She replies, flashing an irresistibly sexy smile.

In any case, once the princess finishes tidying me up for the recording, I quickly erect a stand for my phone and sit in front of it. Somehow, looking at the girls huddling before the phone is a bit stressful.

It might sound strange, but I am used to receiving strong 'stimuli' for quite a while now, and thanks to that, I can somewhat free my brain of the usual worries. Nervousness, anticipation, determination—all of them in exchange for the precious, precious rationality.

Turning on the recording, I gaze straight into the camera and begin to introduce myself,

A part of me is utterly surprised by just how proper my voice sounds. Carrying that confidence, I resume my greeting,

''This channel is created as a way for me to stay in touch with you—citizens of [Aria]. I wish to share slices of my life, as well as my humble wisdom, to you all in the future. I do hope to see you learn something or simply feel entertained after watching my content.''

Curling my mouth into a smile, I give it a finish, ''I am looking forward to seeing you.''

The recording barely lasts thirty seconds. Sure, it is short, but I suppose that is sufficient nonetheless. Concise and to the point—just what I want.

''What do you guys think?'' 

''You need to edit this part out.''

While everybody gives it a pass, only Liana files a complaint for some reason. When I puzzlingly see where she is pointing at...

...My chest? Why?

''They're too distracting.''

...Now that I look at it again, they can seem too eye-catching, especially when my expression doesn't change drastically enough to retain attention.

Fine, fine. I'll censor them.

Oh, that sounds lewd. I rather like it.

With the introductory video's launch as the start, I begin to patiently wait for the views to come in. At the same time, I also try to plan the types of content I'll do in the future.

''Hm...''

As expected, the first few videos should be relaxing rather than intense. No matter what, a 'let's cook' concept fits this the most. I like cooking, and it is, by far, the most universal topic for everyone.

Of course, just slapping on an apron and filming the cooking process is quite boring. I'd like to add a separate commentary section on top of it and sprinkle edits here and there, but first, I have to actually make something.

There's no better food to start with than bread. It might seem simple to bake at first glance, but many people get it wrong or don't know how to really make it pop. I'll be the one to say it—as someone who has tasted Emy's divine food, the difference in bread, even if it's not the main dish, can make a lot of difference.

Also, bread easily looks appetizing, but that's just a side note.

Nonetheless, with a firm idea in mind, I quickly conjure appropriate ingredients as well as a cute baking attire for the shoot. Hopefully, this recording will serve as a good start for my journey as an Internet Goddess in this world.
