Chapter 1024: May you find peace [1/2]
I heard some people helping Nomvula up behind me. The Sirens lined up once again in front. The reinforcements, three Specters and the Seraphs of Satis, sat behind me.
After Robyn's show of overwhelming force against the strongest African, no one spoke. I was sure there were many many more powerful Reapers on this continent. But that was the problem.
The ones who allied with me were weak ones. And all I was going to give them was a chance. I didn't plan to do everything for them. After our work here is done, Amari and his new faction will need to pick up the pieces and rebuild.
Bella glared at the Africans before she began, her voice steady despite the gravity of the moment.
"I feel like I should give everyone fair warning. This will be horrific. The things Hell's Eden will commit today will be atrocities on a massive scale. Yet, this is the bare minimum required for change to come."
The white wall behind my Brazilian bombshell changed. It showed a set of graphs that had simple, easy-to-understand labels. The number of Reapers in Africa. There were two images. The left had the label "Before." The right had the label "After."
It was easy to grasp the difference. The numbers on the graphs reflected three major points. The African princes, Reapers, and human collaborators. The two images showed a stark difference between these three.
"For the benefit of everyone present, I will give a quick summary. Onye and the Royal Harem are intentionally sabotaging Africa's future. They intentionally find the strongest Reapers of each country and use them as vessels of malice.
"That in itself is in line with Africa's principle; however, they exempt the children of those whom they favor. That also would not be an issue if Onye and his faction actually do their jobs of protecting the continent."
The slides changed. They showed many faces: matriarchs, princes, and princesses, a bunch of humans, and finally, Onye himself.
"The people I just showed will be the ones terminated. Each of them has played a role in the diseases that plague this continent. The Matriarchs are those who belong to Onye's faction. The princes and princesses are suspected to be his children."
Loud gasps went around, especially among the elders. It was a bold claim. It would have been great if we had a paternity {Fate} of some sort.
"I say suspected, but we are about 90% certain. Do not ask me how we know. We don't actually care what you all think. Even discounting that they lack a Revenant's bloodline, they are corrupt. And must be eliminated."
"Can I say something?! Please!" an elder begged.
Bella and the rest of the girls didn't answer him. She instead stared at me, waiting for my instruction. I nodded; it was interesting to hear what he had to say.
"Uhm, I am one of the elders of the Ayotunde clan. While we are grateful to you for saving our Prince, I must say that your actions are too violent. You plan to murder more than half of our royalty! Do you know what kind of chaos will follow to replace them?"
A fair question. But rather than Bella, the one who answered him was my Japanese lover.
"Elder-san. When was the last time you ate?"
"Huh?"
"Tell me when you last ate; I will then answer your question," Aki reiterated.
"Uhm. Two hours ago."
"I see. Was it good?"
The elder seemed uncomfortable at the question but nodded meekly. Aki made an exaggerated clap.
"Wonderful. It is wonderful that you grow healthy and have access to food. Elder-san, do you know how many people in the world die of hunger every day?"
"I-I do not."
"25,000. And of those, do you know how many come from your continent?"
The elder's face paled, eyes widening as the weight of Aki's words sank in.
"16,000. Over sixty percent of the people who die every day from starvation come from your land. And despite the world trying to help Africa for entire decades, the number has not moved in the slightest. Do you know why?"
"…"
"It's because of the rampant violence your land experiences. And do you know that even though many foreign armies have tried, no one has managed to aid grant your continent peace?"
Even without turning around, I could feel the elder squirm. Aki's glare had an intensity like that of a beast. I could even see tails made of pure blood manifesting behind her. I shook my head to see if I was mistaken. But they didn't disappear.
'What the fuck are those?'
[One of the many new abilities created by the Sirens, my lord. I can send you a full report should you wish.]
I see. Much like me, the girls were all worried for our succeeding battles. While I created {Fabricate} and {Fast Forward}, they too made strides to grow stronger. As my mind drifted, I then heard a loud bang on a table. Along with an angry grow.
"The affairs of humans are not of our concern! This meeting is related to the Reapers! Trying to use the plight of my continent as an excuse for your vile schemes is deplorable!" someone screamed as she stood up.
Obliviously, it was the fierce and passionate Induna. The only person present who was part of Africa's active Reaper armies. But rather than scold her, Liv stepped forward. My Beloved replied to her anger with kindness.
"Induna Nomvula. I am Liv Ivaldi-Smith, a Northerner. Before I answer, I would like to commend you. In our research, I have learned much about your goodness and resilience. Trying to solve Africa's corruption from the inside is commendable.
"But you are mistaken. The lives of humans directly affect Africa's situation as a whole. Many of the facts we will share have been verified by Matriarch Zanele. If we speak any lies, let her call us out. With that said will you permit us to continue?"
Liv spoke as if addressing a dear friend. Her tone was gentle and pleasant. In contrast to the rest of my girls, her eyes showed a motherly affection. It was often said that only kindness could end hatred, and seeing Liv, I would have to agree.
Unable to speak or utter a harsh reply, the Induna nodded as she sat back down. Liv then thanked her before taking center stage after Aki. My Kamisan said no more and gave Liv the floor.
"To continue on what my sister has said, Africa's situation has not improved due to its Reapers. Long have we known that harsh lives lead to strong Reapers. It is not far-fetched to say that Africa intentionally terrorizes its humans, all for better warriors in Hellsgate.
"Yet all those efforts turned out to be deceptive. We have found that Africa as a whole forces its entire population to drink reaper blood. Usually, the blood of the prince who rules over that country. That in itself is not wrong, but what happens after is what is deplorable."
This was something fundamentally different between here and North America. On our side, it was a chance encounter to become a Reaper. Here, it was expected. Even Zanele said the same thing.
"News of what happened to Kismayo are known to me. And while it is a tragedy, if you had not stopped the Hellsborn, more of my people would have died to them. But worry not. Most, if not all of the people there were given Reaper blood over three years ago."
The screen then changed and showcased pictures and videos of Africans partying. They were driving expensive cars, having orgies, and engaging in wanton violence. It reminded me of rich kids enjoying a life of pleasure and sin.
"The princes look for capable warriors among the people who become Reapers. Those with promise are taken in. They are given life's pleasures and become lost," Liv explained.
My sharp hearing picked up the sounds of jaws clenching and fists tightening. It predominantly came from the princes. Amari, Olamide included.
What do you think?
