It was still clear like day to him. 

Despite it being thousands of years in the past, he could remember that time with no difficulty. Those scenes, those memories, all were long craved inside the root of his soul, unerasable. 

The scientist was young and desperate. His mind was set on finding a way to help his country overcome the crises and survive the war. There was nothing he hadn't tried and no method he hadn't studied; yet, he could not discover anything useful. 

His days were short and the minutes passed fast. The day of the fall was near. He got to do something. He needed to grab the tiniest thread of hope. Hasn't he already seen much? Wasn't the deaths of his family enough? His parents, his sister, his brother, he'd already lost too many people, he couldn't bear to lose any more. 

Not his country, not his sole friend, not his future king. 

That day wasn't far.

However, something changed everything in an instant. A small idea, a distant voice, a blurry dream. It was a repeated reminder, a faint whisper in his ears, in his mind, in his heart. 

An idea bloomed in his head. A theory that wasn't his. 

Despite attempting to resist the alien thoughts, the temptation finally got over him after being exposed to the same dream for weeks. The dreams were showing him a way to save his country. Why would he refuse? Despite his having an initial fear of the unknown, he doubted things could get worse. What could possibly go wrong with a country that would fall anyway?
