Level 1 to Infinity: My Bloodline Is the Ultimate Cheat!

Chapter 211: The Reason for Hatred

After leaving the gym, Jade had reluctantly agreed to date Len after his relentless pursuit. Despite his carefree and often irresponsible demeanor, Len had been surprisingly attentive to her. Eventually, their relationship progressed, and to Len's shock, Jade, who had always seemed so worldly, was actually a virgin.

At first, Len was thrilled, but that thrill quickly turned to regret. If he'd known she was untouched, he could've handed her over to Henry. That would've been his ticket to the top!

Later, during a casual outing, Len had introduced Jade to Henry. Henry had shown some interest in her, and Len's eyes had lit up with opportunity. He began subtly pushing Jade toward Henry, hoping to curry favor. If Jade hadn't found an excuse to slip away that day, she might have ended up in Henry's clutches.

The incident led to a huge fight between Jade and Len. But soon after, Jade discovered she was pregnant. When Len found out, his attitude changed completely. He became devoted, taking care of her and even covering her mother's hospital bills. It seemed like the former playboy was finally stepping up, ready to take on the responsibilities of fatherhood.

For a while, Jade began to truly accept Len into her life. But that peace didn't last.

One day, while working at the hotel, Jade took a break and glanced at her phone. That's when she saw the news report about Len and his crew being arrested. The life she had started to build—one of quiet contentment, was shattered. Her resentment toward Ethan flared up again.

In a moment of desperation, she dialed the number Henry had given her. Her plan was twofold: she wanted Henry to help free Len, and she hoped to use his influence to get revenge on Ethan. But that decision would lead her down a path of no return.

That night, Henry instructed Jade to meet him at The Den, a high-end hot spring resort. Jade knew what she was walking into. She understood that meeting Henry would come at a cost, but she was willing to pay it to save Len. She dressed carefully, preparing herself for what was to come.

When she arrived, Henry greeted her warmly, just as she expected. She pleaded with him to help Len, and he assured her it would be no problem. But then, a strange old man appeared.

The man was cloaked entirely in black robes, an odd sight in the luxurious setting of The Den. Jade assumed he was elderly based on his hunched posture and raspy voice. The man studied her for a moment before whispering something in Henry's ear. Henry's demeanor changed instantly. He looked at Jade with disgust, then turned and left the room with his entourage, leaving her alone with the old man.

Jade, confused and frightened, tried to leave, but before she could, the old man spoke.

"Young girl, the child in your womb—just under a month old, is the perfect material for my Water Elemental Ghost Infant Curse. And the water here… it's ideal for the ritual."

With a wave of his hand, Jade felt an invisible force seize her body. She was dragged into the hot spring, her movements completely out of her control. Despite the shallow depth of the pool, it felt as if a thousand-pound weight was pressing down on her, forcing her underwater.

She struggled, gasping for air as the warm water filled her lungs.

Strangely, Jade remained fully conscious, unable to black out despite the agony. The old man crouched at the edge of the pool, his hands moving in intricate patterns. Waves of black mist surged into the water, weaving together like chains. Jade would later learn that the black mist was actually countless parasites.

The dark tendrils seeped into her abdomen, and she watched in horror as her stomach began to swell unnaturally. The child inside her grew at an alarming rate. Then came the searing pain of her body tearing apart. The unbearable agony finally overwhelmed her, and she lost consciousness.

In that final moment before darkness took her, Jade felt nothing but hatred. She hated Ethan for ruining her life, Len for dragging her into this mess, Henry for his cruelty, and the old man for what he was doing to her.

She even hated her father, who had left her with crippling debt before taking his own life. She hated her mother, bedridden and dependent, a constant burden. And she hated the child growing inside her—a child that had become a tool for someone else's dark ritual.

Flashback: The Night of the Massacre

Jade didn't know how much time had passed when she suddenly heard voices.

"Bro, there are too many guards here. If we just barge in, we'll get caught before we can film anything."

"Yeah. Should we call Ethan? He's good at this kind of thing."

"Let's not involve Ethan. If we're caught, we'll have to explain this to JJ. You three insisted on coming along, but this is getting risky."

"What's there to explain? We'll just send him the video and tell him to stay away from that toxic woman!"

"Exactly! Last time I saw her getting into that Serpent Islander's car, I told JJ, but he didn't believe me. This time, we'll have proof!"

The voices belonged to Rowan, Greg, and two others. They were hiding in the same room where Jade had been attacked—a room that had been abandoned for some time. The four of them were peeking out the door, their target being the private room across the hall.

The mention of Ethan's name twice was what finally stirred Jade back to consciousness. A surge of resentment erupted within her.

"The hell… You idiots!"

The angry shout came from the hallway, and was backed with a foreign accent. It indicated that Rowan and his friends had been discovered.

At the same moment, Jade burst out of the water, lunging toward the door…

Present Day

Ethan, Leo, and the others sat in a taxi, the atmosphere heavy with silence. Ethan was lost in thought, replaying the events of the day. While Jade's death wasn't directly his fault, her story made it clear that he was indirectly involved.

After Jade had awakened and massacred everyone at The Den, her rage had finally subsided. The first victims of her rampage had been Rowan and his friends. Half of the Ghost Parasites inside her had been forced into their bodies. But because Jade was still disoriented and unfamiliar with her newfound powers, the parasites didn't kill them outright.

The others at The Den weren't so lucky. In her bloodlust, Jade had slaughtered everyone in the resort that night. When she finally regained her senses and realized what she had done, she was filled with remorse.

Remembering the conversation she had overheard while unconscious, Jade knew that Rowan and his friends were Ethan's classmates. She found them unconscious and realized that if she removed the parasites from their bodies, they would wither and die like the others. So, she carried them back to their school, assuming Ethan would be there.

By then, Jade had come to a realization: out of everyone she knew, Ethan was the only one she could trust. But when she arrived at the school, she discovered that Ethan wasn't there.
