Volume 5 Chapter 44: Three Heads, Six Arms
The scorching wind wailed.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
The sound of explosion continued to echo, and with great difficulty, Melon emerged from the hot mist, and immediately, a charred bone giant palm slapped down to where she was, the swing of the giants stirring up scorching lava.
Melon only stayed on the ground for half a second before leaping again, narrowly dodging both the giant hand and a phantom skull that swiftly flew out from the mist, the skull exploded on the ground near her, and scattered blackened fragments melted with the impurity of death, spreading contamination all around.
In mid-air, Melon swiftly dodged and evaded the giant palm, quickly realizing that there was no solid ground below. In a critical moment, purple petals scattered, and Melon disappeared along with the petals.
Dozens of meters away, with a flash of purple light, Grace appeared with Melon in her arms, both of them standing on a high point.
"Thank you very much, Miss Grace," Melon said, patting the dust off herself, her two [Tyrant's Arm] glowing red due to overheating.
Melon's gaze remained fixed on the front, filled with various complex emotions.
"...What is this monster?" Grace spoke, her tone filled with surprise.
"I don’t know, but it felt similar to that girl in the desert," Melon's tone carried a hint of unwillingness.
Melon still remembered the phrase that almost shattered her confidence before her miserable defeat, "I'll try to go easy on you."
At that moment, the huge skeleton emerged from the sea of molten lava, its body is dripped with lava, with three skulls significantly different from the human structure as its head, the skull is much larger in size, but the skull only has one eye socket.
The monster body is charred and lacking the lower half, and when it’s fully emerged, they saw what monster it is.
It’s a three-headed one-eyed giant skeleton, its size is around fifteen meters tall...
It was different from the bone dragon from before.
"Nevertheless, compared to that time, I've grown much stronger," Melon's gaze became firm, reloading the ammunition of the [Tyrant's Arm].
"...Yes, everyone has grown stronger," Grace said as the disintegrating giant monster in the hot pool continuously swung its claws, launching phantom skulls into the air.
A figure swiftly flew around the withering giant, attracting attention. The giant's body occasionally burst with the glow of arrows.
Grace and Melon exchanged glances, both disappearing and re-entering the battle.
In an instant, frost, fireworks, explosions, and flying cherry blossoms scattered. The withering giant roared in anger, but for a moment, it couldn't handle these attacks.
[Chorus Seed] grew on the charred skeleton body of the withering giant. At the same time, a figure, with wings formed of magical wind, attacked the giant.
The figure then raised up its hand, and a wind that is constantly rolling, spinning, and soon transforming into a mighty axe of wind, descended!
"[Mountain Breaker]!" Derisha roared.
[Chorus Seed] bloomed, the giant wind axe split into ten, each one of them slashing at the withering giant. Instantly, molten lava splashed, the giant monster bone fragments flew, and the entire right arm of the withering giant was chopped off.
In mid-air, flying rapidly, Aurevia brought out [Apache], continuously pounding through the body of the withering giant. The already fragmented giant became even more shattered, falling backward into the hot pool.
Splash
As the dust settled, four figures appeared on the peak of the hot pool, looking at the shattered bones swallowed by the lava.
"...Is it over?" Grace asked.
"Master..." Melon rotated her wrists, the heat from [Tyrant's Arm] still uncomfortable despite having [Fire Protection].
After defeating the monster, it was time to seek praise from her master.
"Now that we've regrouped, we need to find Walson quickly," Derisha said, carrying [Anti-Melon Spear Prototype 1.0] on her shoulder.
"There are still many monsters below. Besides dealing with them, we also need to find a way to leave," Aurevia squinted her eyes, realizing that she needed to make some modifications to [Wing of The Wasp] after its awkwardness during combat. If it weren't for the lava pits all around, she wouldn't have used it.
The four looked at each other, agreeing with their respective thoughts, and instantly re-established the party, with Grace temporarily as the captain.
As they were about to turn and leave, a sudden foaming sound made them pause, and the heat that followed made them turn their heads.
In that instant, they saw an overwhelming and infinitely enlarged phantom skull.
With one strike, the entire mountain was blasted to pieces, and the subsequent flow of the impurity of death swallowed everything.
The charred, glowing giant carcass had somehow emerged again from the hot pool. Countless sand and gravel were flying toward its mouth, forming and solidifying. Six sand tentacles soon emerged from behind the giant's back.
The six tentacles stiffened, and in the next moment, they rioted, split, and spread!
"Roarrrrrrrr!!!!!!" The colossal skeleton opened its hollow mouth and howled to the sky.
On the scorched earth, an adventurer cornered by the withering skeleton closed her eyes, expecting the impending strike. But as the seconds passed, the blade didn't come down. She opened her eyes and saw a blade halted just a centimeter above her forehead, along with the trembling withering skeleton.
Its empty eyes looked towards its abdomen, where something had pierced through – a small tentacle made of gravel.
The withering skeleton's body began to disintegrate, distort, ultimately turning into a strange sand lump perched on the tentacle, carried away.
The adventurer looked up and saw a tentacle undergoing a monstrous transformation, along with a monster.
The blazing giant charred bones vibrated, a red glow shimmered, three skulls, three eye sockets ignited with fierce flames. The sprawling tentacles gradually retracted, solidifying, finally transforming into six arms.
Many lava slimes leaped out of the rolling hot pool, climbing onto the charred bone structure, combining into scalding flesh.
No longer the withering giant, but something else.
"Grace-chan!" Derisha landed while holding Grace.
"...Ugh, the others..." Grace groaned, a blush appearing on her lips. The explosion had come too suddenly, and even though she used spatial jumping with Derisha, it wasn't enough to avoid it completely.
The situation elsewhere was equally chaotic. Aurevia made a forced landing, rolling on the ground for quite a distance. If Melon hadn't grabbed her, she might have fallen directly into the lava.
Melon didn't suffer too many injuries, but the jumpsuit she had worn since her coming-of-age ceremony was now tattered.
She didn't have time to check Aurevia's injuries and immediately activated the leg thrusters, leaping with Aurevia.
The scorched earth beneath their feet was blown away in the blink of an eye, and the lava turned into a scorching wave, devouring everything.
A slash came, a lava slash, came from one of the six colossal arms, holding a massive sword.
The monster's six arms, in which each of them held a pitch-black colossal stone sword, a blade over ten meters long, swung, and then they stopped. The six blades formed a bizarre totem in the air.
"What kind of monster is this!?" Melon exclaimed, beads of cold sweat forming.
What do you think?
