Chapter 200: Joint Strike On The Cavern (1)
**Ayyye made it to chapter 200, another milestone in the books!!! Question: let me know in the comments if you guys want me to extend the premium privilege chapters to 20; as usual, I will keep the coin costs low; just asking.**
Staying low to the ground and stealthily entering the tunnel leading to the expansive Cavern, Aoni's head remained on a swivel, just in case any insects were clinging to the walls this far out.
And sure enough, it wasn't without good reason that he took these steps, because once he crossed the halfway point before reaching the cavern, his movement came to a swift halt as he encountered three 1-Star mole cricket monsters.
'This isn't a good sign, considering they weren't in the tunnel last time.' Waving his hand and silently eliminating the monsters before storing their corpses within a box usually kept in his inventory, Aoni got back on the move while considering a few things.
'How the hell can there be so many? I thought for sure I wiped out all of them the first go around, yet Nyria's words are correct. There are, in fact, a bunch waiting for me in the cavern; where did they come from…' Stopping short of the mouth leading to the open space, Aoni picked off a couple more weak insects, stored them away to hide the evidence and finally got a good look at what he was dealing with.
'Mother fucker, HOW!' he cried mentally while observing well over four times as many mole crickets meandering around the cave, doing random tasks and other bug shit, not excluding building strange structures out of a mixture of spit and gravel.
There were even hundreds lazily floating around in the lake, and the thought that bugs were in the water, for which he had many plans, gave him a queasy feeling.
'I knew there was a colony, but it can't be possible that the ones I saw before were all scouts; if that were the case, where the hell would all of them live naturally…unless there is some sort of tunnel system and this isn't the only cavern.'
Holding his breath and sprinting to cover, Aoni's mind raced, wanting answers because if things were going to be this bad all the time, and there was, in fact, a cave system attached to the cavern, he might as well give up even considering settling down in here and just collapse the damn space in.
'No, that can't be right; we checked this place from top to bottom, and apart from all the different tunnels leading outside, we didn't find a single…fuck.' Stopping short of that train of thought, Aoni leaned forward dangerously over the edge of the small cliff with widened eyes and raised eyebrows.
Right as he was trying to figure out where the bugs were coming from, he watched in real-time as all the ones who he'd previously believed to be floating lazily swam to the edge of the lake, climbed out, and within a few seconds, heads began popping up one after another as they were replaced on the surface of the water from below.
'There's a fucking aquifer feeding the lake!' Leaning back in frustration, Aoni ran his fingers through his hair and caught sight of movement in the air high above the water.
{'Nyria, change of plans,'} Opening his inventory and replacing the Raising Nodes with a bunch of different stones, Aoni radically came up with a reckless idea on the spot.
{'Okay, brother, what should I do instead?'} Since she was staying silent even when hovering, much like owls fly without making any sound, Nyria was calm, given the fact that tens of thousands of monsters were moving around below her.
{'Do you remember our magic training, more specifically when I taught you how to shoot ice from your beak?'} Reaching his waist, where a special pouch was placed, Aoni carefully undid the buckle, flipped up the covering flap, and stored nearly 20 different nodes inside before closing it and his inventory, leaving his hands completely free.
{'Uh-hun, pitcher spitting super hard and imagine it being snow come out my beak, I member,'} Nyria said in a cheery voice because she had a feeling it was finally time to show Aoni the fruit of all the training she'd been doing behind the scenes.
{'Yep, just like we practiced, When you see me break a bunch of rocks with an ice bullet, I want you to fly in the opposite direction of it, drop off your sister, and go to the lake super fast.'}
{'Once you are there, go directly over the center of it and shoot your Ice Breath with everything you've got; the plan is to freeze the whole thing, and don't worry, I don't expect you to do it alone, I will join you after helping Glacia out.'} Tucking closer to the rocks he was using as cover and narrowly avoiding a group of mole crickets as they passed by, Aoni started laying out roles for his summons, as he wanted them moving independently of his actions; that way, the monsters would be split into thirds instead of all rushing one direction.
{'As for you, Glacia, it's time to let loose. Don't worry about getting dirty or hurt because I will help you from a distance; just have fun and kill anything that isn't family.'} Looking up to see the reaction of his floof after hearing her task, Aoni wasn't let down because she immediately began doing a happy squirm while being held under her arms.
{'Game time? Game, Brodder Game?'} Glacia asked over and over, causing Aoni to nearly burst out laughing at how adorable she was.
You'd never know she was talking about slaughtering thousands of monsters many times her size with how she was acting, and that thought alone added to her cute charm in a sadistic someone didn't teach her right kind of way.
But for Aoni, it was amusing; perhaps his time in Genovia had already altered his way of thinking, or perhaps in his mind, Glacia truly couldn't do any wrong. Whatever the reason, he still assured her that points would be tallied up. The winner would receive whatever they wanted as a prize, such as choosing dinner, having the first turn at Fun Bathtime, or even more toys to play with.
'Honestly, carrot and stick really work too well for her sometimes,' Aoni said, wearing a faint smirk. He took his shooting stance and began drawing in Energia to charge up a large Ice Bullet.
What do you think?
