Chapter 340: Inventory of Gains, Michelle's Attitude, Gathering
Upon hearing Luo An's words, Mona's lips curved slightly, and Reesi immediately lit up and opened the folder.
Michelle's personality is more reserved, but she also flipped through the folder much faster than before.
Inside the folder was the one million US dollars gifted to their Special Investigation Team by Pranay O'Dell, the father of that Las Vegas millionaire, under one of his foundations.
Currently, there are four people on the Special Investigation Team, and Luo An also received a huge sum of money, so the one million US dollars were evenly split among the four, with each person getting two hundred and fifty thousand US dollars.
"I love you to death! Luo An!"
Seeing the number 250,000, Reesi immediately jumped on the spot, grabbed Luo An's arm, and said with an excited, flushed face:
"Luo An, what do you want to eat for dinner tonight? I'll go buy it now!"
After saying that, Reesi glanced at Mona, who was immersed in the folder with a slightly red face, then whispered into Luo An's ear:
"During the previous investigation of the shooting case of a Hollywood tycoon, I got the cookbook of Sande Jisi before his death from that red-haired personal assistant... I'll secretly write it down for you later."
Luo An's eyebrows shot up at this, 'Are you looking down on me? Do I, someone strong and healthy with systems and potions, need those things?'
After glaring fiercely at Reesi, Luo An coughed softly and said in a low voice:
"Remember to put it in the drawer on the far left of my desk."
No other implications, Luo An was just a bit curious about the dietary habits of billionaires and wanted to gain some insights and learn something new.
Mona, fully aware of Luo An's strengths and weaknesses, as well as Reesi's character and preferences, did not engage with the pair whispering together and instead pulled up the calculator on the computer and began to seriously calculate just how much she had gained during this period.
"This time it's two hundred and fifty thousand US dollars, plus that offshore account, the special funds for case handling, the monthly salary and bonuses..."
Mona's eyes grew brighter, becoming hopelessly lost in the arithmetic of addition and subtraction.
Next to Mona, on the chair, was Michelle who had not long joined the Special Investigation Team but had already accumulated assets exceeding three hundred thousand US dollars, breathing rapidly, pupils constricted, her face full of shock.
On one hand, she was amazed at the Special Investigation Team's speed at making money, and on the other hand, she was extremely surprised at Luo An's generosity to his subordinates.
When she worked in the supervisory office, she was used to seeing certain leaders take eight, nine, even ten shares, leaving only a bowl for their subordinates to taste.
And even worse, some wouldn't even leave the bowl.
Pluck the goose?
They didn't pluck feathers; they kept the whole goose.
Compared with those vermin, Luo An started to shine in Michelle's eyes.
Golden light!
Quietly resolved, Michelle decided to work wholeheartedly for the Special Investigation Team from now on. Luo An's status in her heart climbed several notches, only slightly lower than a few treasured books she had.
Luo An did not know what Michelle was thinking, but the "emotional perception" in his mind told him that Michelle's attitude towards him was beginning to shift in the direction of Reesi's attitude towards him.
In the "emotional perception" in Luo An's mind, Mona's attitude towards him was nearly a pile of blazing flames, and Reesi's attitude was akin to a lit torch.
When Michelle first joined the Special Investigation Team, her attitude towards Luo An was mostly respect and admiration.
But after some time of cooperation and communication, the flame belonging to Michelle, though small, had been ignited.
This was also the reason Luo An chose to split the money evenly: although he wasn't at the stage of 'having no interest in money', he didn't particularly need this thank-you money either.
The world pursues profit, and indeed, Luo An liked money, but he valued his teammates' thoughts and attitudes towards him more.
A teammate who can be relied on at critical moments, who doesn't stab you in the back or leave you behind, is worth far more than the money.
After joking around with Reesi for a while, Luo An gave it some thought and looked toward Michelle, saying:
"Let's go out for dinner together tonight, as a welcome to Michelle for joining our Special Investigation Team!"
Michelle stood up in a hurry upon hearing this:
"Deputy Director Luo An, I..."
"That's settled then!"
With a wave of his hand, Luo An left Michelle no time to speak and pulled Mona over, who was still engrossed in a numbers game, and asked with a smile:
"What was the name of the restaurant we went to before Michelle came? I remember you saved their number, send them a message to reserve a spot quickly, or it'll be too late..."
"I know, I know!"
Before Mona could speak, Reesi interjected, raising her hand:
"Leave it to me, I've got the female manager's phone number of that restaurant!"
Luo An: "..."
When did you manage to get that?
Seeing the three of them huddle together, making noise and fuss, Michelle, who was accustomed to being alone, was even more emotionally touched, her eyes slightly moistened.
Seeing that the torchlight in the "emotional perception" belonging to Michelle was getting warmer, the corners of Luo An's mouth lifted slightly.
At half-past eight in the evening, at "Catch SX" restaurant on the West Coast of Los Angeles.
Because of the ample time and excitement today, Mona and Reesi even dolled themselves up a bit. A set of casual wear greatly highlighted Mona's excellent figure, and the tomboyish style of Reesi was very imposing.
What surprised the trio was that Michelle had also put on simple makeup.
The gold glasses perched on her nose, coupled with the unique demeanor cultivated from years of reading, made Michelle stand out much more than usual.
At least Reesi was already grinning from ear to ear, briskly running up and linking arms with Michelle.
Luo An was somewhat surprised by the transformation in Michelle, making sure the three hadn't left anything behind, and then led them to the restaurant's location.
Along the way, the group consisting of Luo An with the stunningly figured Mona on his left, the imposing Reesi on his right, and the knowledgeable Michelle was exceedingly eye-catching.
Add to that Luo An's handsome face and unique charisma, many passersby who hadn't seen Luo An before wondered if this was some rich young master coming out to play.
As pedestrians repeatedly turned their heads back, a few passing journalists even snapped a few photos.
Inside the restaurant, Luo An sat in the main seat, Mona on his left, Reesi directly opposite Luo An, and Michelle facing Mona.
It was a restaurant known for its seafood, which meant lengthy wait times for dishes. Reesi had barely sat down when she vanished with the restaurant manager, followed shortly after by Michelle heading to the restroom.
Not long after Michelle left, Mona leaned close to Luo An and muttered with a cold huff:
"How does it feel? Having the three of us with you tonight, you must be pretty thrilled, huh?"
Luo An immediately rolled his eyes at this, making it sound as though he'd done something amiss.
He had no interest in Michelle, who was older and of average build.
Reesi, who only liked women, was even less of his interest.
But Luo An knew why Mona said that; it was just a woman's little tantrum and jealousy.
Without arguing with Mona, Luo An gently took her hand under the table, leaned in to peck her lips, then quickly cheered her up with sweet words.
After a while, Michelle returned, and as they both let go of each other's hands, the waiter began serving the dishes. Reesi also returned to her seat, sporting lipstick on her collar and a bottle of complimentary red wine from the restaurant.
"..."x3
The three people at the table rolled their eyes simultaneously. Luo An swallowed the food in his mouth and, looking at Reesi who was eating like she hadn't eaten in decades, said helplessly:
"Reesi, after you finish this meal, you don't have another round planned, do you?"
What do you think?
