Chapter 33 - 33 33 Borrowing a Book and the Giant Peng

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Borrowing a Book and the Giant Peng Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Borrowing a Book and the Giant Peng Muria rode on a Giant Peng, whose entire body was covered with dazzling feathers that shone like a rainbow, speeding through the air above the Titan Islands. The furious wind caused Muria’s black hair to fly in all directions.

Under the rapid flight of the Giant Peng, the landscapes in Muria’s eyes were rapidly falling behind. Yet, even at this near sonic speed, Muria could still see his surroundings clearly with his monster-like dynamic vision.

Soon, Muria arrived at the border of the Titan Islands aboard the Giant Peng. Despite the distance, he could easily see the Crystal Castle, the epitome of luxury, glittering in the sunshine.

As Muria approached, numerous golden Bipedal Dragons surrounded him from all directions, seemingly intending to attack him and drive him out of the Crystal Castle’s air domain.

“Scree!” The Giant Peng let out an angry cry, its eyes full of fury. These eighteen-meter-long Bipedal Dragons, even though they had mutated due to exposure to the Golden Dragon Mother’s power, were still far from rivaling the Giant Peng.

The Giant Peng was a monster of the Gold Rank Five whose wingspan could reach eighty meters. These Bipedal Dragons just achieved their Golden rank through mutations. To the eyes of the Giant Peng, they were merely food.

“Do not attack, these are my mother’s minions.” Muria reached out and stroked the feathers on the Giant Peng’s neck, calming its emotions. He knew the Giant Peng could understand him. Despite their inability to talk, Golden-rank monsters’ intelligence was on par with humans.

It was due to this reason that Muria could now sit on the back of the proud Giant Peng. Not so long ago, the Giant Peng had directly felt the power of the legendary Titan, which could effortlessly tear it apart. This fear of Ansol allowed Muria, who shared the same origin, to easily ride the Peng.

“Stand down!” After soothing the Giant Peng, Muria released his own energy, commanding the approaching Golden Flying Dragons, who were merely sub-dragons mutated by the power of Golden Dragon Mother Atris.

“Roar!” “Roar!” “Roar!”…
Muria’s special Dragon Prestige, mixed with the power of Titan bloodline, spread out. Although it was weak and couldn’t exert any suppression, the Golden Flying Dragons, minions of the Golden Dragon Mother, still felt innate pressure from the bloodline.

The Flying Dragons let out sporadic fearful growls. Their eyes filled with awe, and they swiftly dispersed. Their formation changed from an encircling one to a custodial layout.

“All of you get out of my way!” An exasperated voice rang out at the edge of the Flying Dragons. A robust Dragonflight Commander appeared, far larger than the standard flying dragons. It used its wings and claws to push aside the dragons blocking its path in a wild manner.

Then, Barton, the one who taught Muria to fly and left a profound impression, appeared before him: “Young Master Muria, welcome back!”

“Ha ha!” Muria laughed, pointing to the surrounding Flying Dragons while addressing Barton, “This setup doesn’t look like it’s here to welcome me.”

“Please understand, Young Master Muria.” Barton, the Dragonflight Commander, awkwardly grinned, “These Flying Dragons are not the ones I trained. They grew up in Archmage Atris’s Semi Plane and have never seen you or recognized your energy.”

“Oh!” Muria nodded in understanding. Soon after, he landed on the platform of the Crystal Castle on Giant Peng, accompanied by Barton.

“In the short time I was away, the island has changed completely. If it weren’t for this castle still standing, I wouldn’t have recognized it.” Muria looked down at the unrecognizable island below and spoke with a sense of nostalgia.

On the island, in just a few months’ time, the buildings left by the Titans had become abandoned and crippled. More than half of them turned into ruins, including the martial arts field built especially for Muria, which was now full of potholes.

Many Dragon Beasts, who had emerged from Archmage Atris’s Semi Plane, now resided in the buildings left by the Titans. There were even massive Dragon Beasts who moved in out of curiosity, charging straight through with their large bodies. Their violent movements tore through the group of Titan structures, creating a new path.

Thus, due to the birth of Muria, the structures built by the Titans who had come to live on the island were destroyed by the Golden Dragon Beasts. The symbol of civilization vanished. Aside from the Crystal Castle of the Golden Dragon Mother, the entire island had transformed into a deserted one.

“Young Master Muria, welcome back.” When Muria and the Giant Peng landed on the castle platform, he saw two Red Dragons lying asleep on a castle tower. Not far away, the blond maid head Sophia, along with a team of maids, came before him and politely greeted him.

“Sophia, you haven’t changed at all in more than a decade. That’s nice.” Muria smiled as he saw the familiar blonde young woman, “Is my mother in the castle?”

“Archmage Atris has already left, Young Master Muria.”

“Has she gone to fight against evil again?” Muria touched his chin in contemplation. He always thought that Golden Dragon Mother’s love for justice wasn’t solely due to her dragon nature but also her greed. After all, strong evil had nothing to do with poverty. In Elasia, fighting against evil was also a way to make a fortune.

“Maybe I’ll give it a try when I have time!” Muria muttered. He then turned to Sophia and said, “This time, I came to borrow some books from the library. I’ll be leaving soon.”

“Alright, Master Muria, you can take away any books you wish to read. This was instructed by Archmage Atris.” Head maid Sophia responded. “Please follow me.”

Muria, looking at Sophia leading the way, tugged at the corner of his mouth: “Sophia, I remember the way to the library. You can go back to your duties, I know you’re busy.”

“Then, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll leave first. Please let this squad of maids accompany you. ” Sophia, upon hearing Muria, unceremoniously excused herself. She was indeed very busy, managing more than a thousand maids in the castle.

Thereafter, Muria left the Giant Peng at the castle platform and led a group of female servants into the castle and to the library, looking for the magic array books he wanted.

“Why are there so many?” Muria looked at the bookshelf as high as fifteen meters in front of him. The variety of books, densely packed on the shelves and written in different languages, made his head spin.

“Master Muria, if you need books related to magic arrays, all books on the bookshelf in this area are related. The bookshelf in front of you is just one of them.” Behind Muria, a dragon maid gestured to him, pointing out the bookshelves.

“This… this is too much.” Muria watched speechlessly at the bookshelves in the area—each bookshelf in the Golden Dragon Mother’s library ranged from a minimum of eight thousand books to more than ten thousand. At a glance, the Dragon maid pointed out more than a million books.

“I’ve been wanting to ask, where did my mother get so many books?” Muria looked at the dragon maid. Describing Golden Dragon Mother Atreus’s collection as ‘an ocean of books’ was no exaggeration. This collection was simply unbelievable.

“Ah, Master Muria, I’m just a humble maid. I’m not quite clear on that.” The dragon maid in front of Muria embarrassingly replied. She then stealthily looked around, noting the other dragon maids were counting the amount of books for Muria, not paying attention to them.

Then, the dragon maid lowered her voice: “However, I’ve heard rumors that most of Archmage Atris’s books were accumulated rapidly after she entered the legend. It’s said that she plundered them by force. I’m not sure whether this is true.”

“I see.” Muria nodded, believing most of the so-called rumours that the Dragon maid mentioned. He felt that this was the truth, or at least part of it.

In his past life, the phrase “knowledge is power” also applied in Elasia. At least to the Golden Dragon, rare knowledge was a valuable wealth.

…In the end, Muria left the Crystal Castle with a space ring, which was filled with more than thirteen thousand books. These books recorded the basic knowledge of the magic array and did not involve too profound content. They were suitable for beginners like him, apart from the quantity being a little overwhelming.

“Um, why did you all come?” Muria, carrying the space ring, returned to the castle platform. He was somewhat surprised to see the five Storm Giants and their mounts–the Giant Pengs–on the castle platform.

“Your Majesty.” The five storm giants saluted, and one of them spoke: “We are your followers. It is our duty to guard and follow you, so please be sure to inform us in advance before you go out.”

“Alright!” Muria smacked his lips and nodded in agreement. He felt no need to refuse such a matter. Having a group of giants following him each time he went out was quite impressive.

“Hee!” “Hee!” “Hee!”…

In a matter of minutes, Muria and the five Storm Giants returned to the Five-Color Dragon Castle on Taiji Island on the backs of six Giant Pengs. When Muria jumped off the Giant Peng, a Storm Giant, whose face was slightly embarrassed, walked towards him.

“Your Majesty!” The pale-skinned giant first saluted Muria, then looked apprehensively at the Giant Peng behind Muria.

“Purr!” At this moment, the Giant Peng behind Muria lowered its head. It nuzzled its beak affectionately against the pale storm giant, who was 18 meters tall.

“This is your partner, huh.” Seeing this, Muria immediately understood the situation. He then expressed his admiration, “Your Giant Peng is quite fast.”

“Your Majesty!” Upon hearing Muria’s praise, the face of the Storm Giant grew even more conflicted. He complained woefully, “If you want, I can…”

“No, I don’t want that.” Before the Storm Giant could finish, Muria interrupted him, “I just borrowed it temporarily to save time. In a little while, my flying speed will be not much different from a Giant Peng’s.”

Speaking of this, Muria fluttered the dragon wings on his back. He was born with wings.

“Take good care of your partner. Support each other.” After saying this, Muria smiled and left the thrilled Storm Giant who was hugging and petting the Giant Peng incessantly.

“The Giant Peng, it can reach Rank Five in the Gold Rank when mature.” Muria recalled the relevant information. “This creature is good for riding now, but in the future, it won’t be able to keep up with me. If I have to choose a mount, at the very least, it should be able to become a legend like me in the future. Otherwise, I won’t even give it a second thought!”
