Chapter 873 Ancient One's Destiny
Prephyx was useless.
It was toxic.
It was waste.
Prephyx was like ash.
Getting any kind of energy out of it was almost impossible since it had already given off all of its energy when it had turned to ash.
Yet, compared to ash, Prephyx couldn't easily be used to raise plants.
Nothing consumed Prephyx since it was just horrible.
On other planets, Prephyx represented contamination.
It spread across the worlds like toxic dirt.
Being in an area with a high density of Prephyx would damage lifeforms using Star Energy or Pure Energy.
The worst part was that it didn't gather in one spot.
It just spread into individual particles that mixed with everything else.
The Enlightened Ones had never seen any other worlds, but they could make educated guesses as to how the Prephyx would affect the living beings there.
One shocking fact was how the evolution of biological lifeforms in relation to Pure Energy would endanger the survival of the entire planet.
Prephyx was produced when Star Energy lost all of its energy.
If there were a kind of plant that grew incredibly powerful by consuming Star Energy, it would also give off Prephyx.
Over many years, this would increase the density of Prephyx on the planet, making survival for many kinds of life impossible.
Only the strongest and oldest plants would be able to resist the Prephyx.
The younger plants would wither and die.
This would leave a planet with only a couple of mighty plants, while the remainder would be devoid of life.
But eventually, the Prephyx would become so dense that not even these mighty plants would be able to gather any Star Energy anymore.
And finally, these plants would also die, leaving behind a dead world.
It would take thousands of years for the Star Energy to wash the Prephyx out from the planet, and new life would appear.
This time, it had to hope that nothing developed an affinity for Star Energy.
The Enlightened Ones believed that the aliens gathered a gigantic amount of Prephyx and sent it into the solar system.
The forcefield kept the Prephyx from reaching Earth, but it still surrounded it from a distance.
This disturbed their sensors, making it harder to aim their weapons.
That was when the aliens used their powerful warriors in a devastating attack.
The Enlightened Ones believed that many, many warriors of the aliens died, but in the end, at least one of them managed to reach Earth.
And that was the end of it.
Humanity couldn't use their weaponry to target things on Earth.
This would make Earth inhospitable.
Humanity capitulated.
Slavery was better than extinction.
The aliens acted like they accepted the surrender, and over the years, they built the Sun.
And when it was built…
It killed all but a very few genetically altered humans.
The other colonized planets were eradicated shortly after.
That was how Earth was turned into a Zephyx mine.
At least, that was the best guess the Enlightened Ones had.
The existence of Prephyx was a decisive factor in the war.
If humanity had learned to deal with it, it would have most likely won the war.
Prephyx was contamination, but it could also be used as a weapon.
After talking about Prephyx for a long time, the Ice Maiden talked about Zephyx.
Zephyx was amazing.
It had an incredible density of energy and was also stable.
However, creating Zephyx was not easy.
It could only be created when potential was consumed.
It was directly opposing entropy.
It stole energy from its surroundings and gathered it in one spot.
Even more, it refused to let go of its energy.
It did not disperse again.
Humanity could have used the production of Zephyx to get rid of their Prephyx problem, but they couldn't have done that on Earth.
They would need to go to different planets and use them as Zephyx mines, and while humanity had stretched across the solar system,
The Enlightened Ones believed that there was one such plant during the era of the Ancient Ones.
However, compared to other worlds, Earth had an intelligent species.
Humans quickly figured out what was happening and experimented with these plants.
The appearance of this new kind of energy gave them a scientific breakthrough, allowing them to realize things they would have never thought possible.
Over time, they also managed to make use of Star Energy and discover Pure Energy.
As for the Prephyx…
They just dumped it into outer space.
The Prephyx couldn't gather on Earth due to an artificial repellant.
Over the many years, a lot of the Prephyx gathered on the other planets in the solar system.
Within a couple million years, this would become troublesome, but humanity would find a way to deal with the issue until then.
For now, they would use Pure Energy to travel to the stars.
And then, they met the aliens.
Lifeforms that inherently worked with Pure Energy.
A huge war broke out.
Humanity was not as advanced as the aliens, but humanity was one thing it was really, really good at.
Destroying things and buildings things that destroyed other things.
While their technology was inferior to the aliens' technology, their sheer firepower was superior.
Humanity should have won the war, but there were two things that led to its defeat.
First of all, humanity was strong, but one human was weak.
The powerful aliens could travel through space with just their bodies, and the strongest of them could even destroy entire planets.
If even a single one of them managed to reach Earth, humanity would be helpless.
But humanity's firepower was tremendous.
None of the aliens managed to reach Earth before they were turned into nothingness.
That was when humanity's second weakness came into play.
They didn't know how to deal with Prephyx.it had not yet managed to reach the next solar system.
If humanity had had just a couple more centuries of time, it might have learned to deal with the Prephyx.
And then, it wouldn't have lost against the aliens.
The Ice Maiden didn't have a lot to say about Zephyx's potential.
It was incredibly dense and stable, but its stability also made it hard to manipulate it.
It was essentially just a high-density energy storage.
Star Energy was also not that manipulatable.
It was easier to manipulate than Zephyx, but not by much.
But Pure Energy.
Pure Energy was amazing!
You could do anything with it!
But you needed Zephyx to create it.
As the Ice Maiden talked about Pure Energy, Nick realized one thing.
'Organisms working with Pure Energy are strict and inarguably superior to organisms working with Zephyx.'
'Manipulating Pure Energy is more than 50 times easier than manipulating Zephyx.'
'If I worked with Pure Energy, I could create powerful abilities in just a short few years.'
'The aliens are more powerful than expected.'
'Most likely, they all have more powerful abilities than the Specters, and they also have more of them.'
'Additionally, space is their playground. In space, they are like fish in water since they are surrounded by Star Energy.'
'Meanwhile, Specters would be like birds in water. Fine for a short moment, but not for long.'
'I need to quickly become an Adversary and change my body to work with Pure Energy if I want to have a chance at taking down the aliens.'
'But I also need humans who use Pure Energy.'
'There's still a lot to do.'
