Chapter 62: Housewarming Again
The next day, Jacob called Khalifa to ask her to come to his housewarming later that night.
"Already?" Khalifa asked as she sat in front of her phone and laptop, downloading all that she could to prepare for the inevitable information lost.
He might be academically slow, but he handled this really quickly.
She heard an embarrassed cough on the other side. "I can be efficient!"
"Khalifa, come on, please? Come to my housewarming, I’ll order loads of food!"
He seemed very excited to finally have a legitimate excuse to call her over.
After a while of thinking, she finally agreed and he could hear Jacob’s cute ’yes!’ from the other line.
The problem was… since she moved to the villa, she had basically lived with the professor.
One could imagine it wouldn’t be easy to tell him of her trip.
Should she lie?
No.
In the end, she decided to call him. "Khalifa?"
"Did I bother you?"
"Of course not. I’m just preparing for the night class." He said, and she could hear the sound of writing from the other end.
"Well…"
"What’s wrong, love?"
"I’m going to a housewarming party." She finally said.
"Whose?"
"A friend’s."
There was a momentary silence on the other end. "That tutee of yours?"
"...yes."
An awkward silence occupied the air for a moment, before she heard a sigh.
"Shall I pick you up after?"
"...no, thank you."
"Then… don’t stay out too long." He finally said after a pregnant pause.
"Thank you." She said with a relieved smile, "I’ll be back soon."
***
That night, Jacob picked her up with a silver sedan and they went to the unit.
Because the whole trip was private, Khalifa didn’t bother with disguises, and Jacob gaped at her obsessively and she had to tap his head so he started driving.
He borrowed one of his father’s cars.
"In a few years I will be able to buy my own car." He told her, determination in his eyes.
She didn’t have the heart to tell him the so-called nightmares she had were going to happen.
They chatted a lot about what happened when they were apart, sans her very active sex life, of course.
Apparently, while competing, he was being recruited to other sports like boxing and even basketball.
"You must be really made for the field."
"If it helps in bed, I am glad."
She laughed.
Because yes, yes it did help.
Jacob’s new crib was a 150 square meter unit in an upper-middle level residential condominium. It had a bedroom, a study (converted to a gym) and a relatively large living area and balcony.
What was notable, though, was all the rose petals on the ground and the candles providing ambient romantic lighting.
An eyebrow rose and she turned to Jacob, who had been watching her reaction closely.
"Well?" He asked.
"Well…" she paused, but smiled. "It’s quite romantic." She told him and she tiptoed to give him a peck.
Jacob’s huge tanned arm wrapped around her waist and pushing her snug to him. He angled his head and met her lips, tongues meeting.
Jacob didn’t go further though, because today was a precious date and he couldn’t ruin it by jumping to sex.
His friends said women like romance more than sex. Jacob was determined to make Khalifa happy.
After reluctantly parting with her, he took her hand and led her to the dining area. There was already a set meal, looking very savory.
Somehow, her men were very aware of her love for food.
"I ordered from a Michelin star restaurant."
She smiled and kissed him again, but quickly separated and settled in her seat.
"Let’s eat."
Jacob was blank for a bit, wanting to kiss more, but seeing her looking forward to what he prepared excited him more than the tournament he was in.
He sat across from her and they began eating. The dinner was very nice and they talked about their day.
"Have you prepared what I told you to?"
Jacob nodded. Although he didn’t really think anything would happen, it wouldn’t hurt to be sure.
More importantly, he did it for Khalifa’s peace of mind.
The fact that she kept reminding him told him she cared. That was more than enough.
He has actually prepared every essential items in all their properties. He also added some solar generators and a universal phone Khalifa gave him before.
Despite the heavy topic, the dinner was lovely.
They then sat on the sofa to play a romcom, which Sid starred in.
Speaking of, Jacob was very bitter. A lot of the good movies had one actor: Kaize! One of Khalifa’s men!
Naturally, he pointedly ignored these movies and focused on anything else.
It was a movie about a boy who fell in love with a girl at first sight. Then he followed her to college and he set up a lot of meet-cutes which amusingly failed spectacularly each time.
The two got closer because of an accident where the fountain exploded and wet them both.
It was completely unplanned and serendipitous.
They also had to struggle through the conflicts created by their social status differences, with the girl being rich and the boy being a typical middle-class child.
Through wit and grit, however, they still ended up together.
"Hmm, quite cute." Khalifa said with a soft smile on her face.
Jacob could not resist and leaned over. However, to his depression, her soft hands blocked his way.
"I want to brush my teeth." She told him, and his eyes brightened again after knowing why she rejected his advances.
He grabbed her hand to show her the bathroom. "Here."
After looking at the mysteriously-proud Jacob, she looked at the bathroom and was surprised.
He brought female articles and placed them around the house, as if she lived there.
Jacob saw her stare and he flushed in embarrassment. "I want you to be comfortable in your stay."
"Amazing. Thank you." She said, giving him a kiss on the cheek, before using her new toothbrush.
Jacob joined her, and from the mirror they looked like newlyweds.
After brushing her teeth she grinned and turned to Jacob, who was eagerly waiting for her to finish.
Their lips met like magnets.
This time, though, it didn’t end with just a peck.
What do you think?
