Chapter 2509: Gate of World Crossing
Chapter 2509: Gate of World Crossing
“What’s going on?” The Monster Generals were stunned.
Did the Lord of Slaughter prepare a trap beforehand? But we already defeated his commanders and unraveled his formations.
The blue light enveloped Zu An, the Lord of Slaughter, Salamay, and Mojard.
“This isn’t good. It’s a teleportation formation!” The Monster Lord recognized the nature of the light right away and thrust his palm on the ground. A destructive force rippled forth, causing the blue formation to flicker.
Mojard anxiously pushed Salamay toward the Lord of Slaughter. “Master, you leave. I’ll cover your back!”
“Brother Mo!”
“Uncle Mo!”
The Lord of Slaughter and Salamay were horrified.
Mojard looked at them with a smile. “Otherwise, none of us will be able to get away. To be able to help master and first miss in my final moments, I have no regrets.”
He lunged forward to tightly embrace the Monster Lord. He used a secret art that intensified his aura severalfold, such that even the Monster Lord struggled to shake him off.
“Let me go!” The Monster Lord was infuriated. One of his hands turned completely green and the other turned completely black as he smashed them ceaselessly into Mojard’s body.
The areas struck by the green aura instantly decomposed until only bloodied white bones were left, whereas the areas struck by the black aura turned into puddles of pus.
Normal enemies would have been destroyed by that, but Mojard had once an expert on the Monster Lord’s caliber. Even though he was severely weakened, the prowess he could exert out of desperation was still not to be underestimated. Lights surfaced from his body, swiftly healing the injured areas.
Unfortunately, the Monster Lord attacked so quickly that the lights slowly dimmed. Mojard's rate of recovery was unable to catch up with the rate he was receiving damage. It wouldn’t be long before his body was reduced to a bloody mist.
Tears streamed down Salamay’s eyes. The Lord of Slaughter’s eyes reddened as well. He felt bitter regret. Had he listened to the Incestuous King years ago, he would never have ended up in this state.
Zu An was impressed. Mojard was truly loyal to the father and daughter, though Zu An wondered how much the latter's twisted love contributed toward that.
In the blink of an eye, all of them vanished into thin air. Before they knew it, they were already beside the lake in the Imperial Tomb.
“Are you all right?” the Saintess asked anxiously. She only breathed a sigh of relief upon confirming that Zu An was safe and sound.
“I’m fine. Were you the one who teleported us here?” Zu An quickly scanned his surroundings. There was no one on their tail yet.
“Mmhm. I saw the Monster Lord bringing so many of his subordinates along and realized that I wouldn’t be able to make a difference in the battle. So, I took the time to construct a formation here instead.” The Saintess patted her chest in relief. “I’m glad you managed to hold on.”
“You’re the Fiend races’ Saintess?” The Lord of Slaughter was astonished to see Xie Daoyun. He had naturally met the legendary Saintess before, considering how they had been adversaries for so many years. He'd never thought that the day when he was saved by her would come.
The Saintess nodded, to which the Lord of Slaughter quickly replied, “I’ll remember this favor, Saintess. If I curb the rebellion, I’ll make peace with the Fiend races.”
Zu An and the Saintess didn’t think much of it. That old thing is just making empty promises. In any case, he was strongly suggesting for them to help him, since his promise could only be fulfilled if he emerged victorious.
“We aren’t out of danger yet. We’re still inside the Imperial Tomb. It won’t be long before our enemies find us, and that would be the end of us,” the Saintess said.
The Lord of Slaughter knew she was right. He had received severe injuries from the earlier two betrayals, and the subsequent battle with the Monster Lord only worsened his injuries.
While the mysterious man was formidable, he was only marginally stronger than the Monster Generals. He was only able to get the better of the Monster Generals due to his special methods and the Monster Generals’ reluctance to reveal their aces. If it came down to a desperate fight, two or three Monster Generals could take him down.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion in the distance, causing the Imperial Tomb to tremble.
Tears trickled down Salamay’s eyes. “It’s Uncle Mo. He must have self-destructed.”
The Lord of Slaughter’s complexion looked awful. He was about to console her when a white light suddenly shone from her waist pouch.
A bead flew out from the pouch. Mojard emerged from it and fell to the ground. His face was ghastly pale.
“Flesh Puppet?” The Lord of Slaughter quickly made sense of the situation.
Mojard revealed a bitter smile. “Master is knowledgeable. Yes, this is my means of survival.” He then bowed apologetically to Salamay and said, “I seek first miss’ forgiveness for placing my life bead with you.”
Salamay was overjoyed. She quickly supported him to his feet. “There’s no need to seek my forgiveness. I’m more than happy to see you alive.”
The two of them had weathered storms together for many years. Mojard had continued to stay by her side even after she had fallen from grace. As a sentimental being, how could Salamay not have any feelings for him? She'd long been aware of Mojard’s feelings for her, but she'd feigned ignorance and instead used it to control him. However, his decision to sacrifice himself to buy time for their escape had moved her profoundly. She realized that she wasn’t as heartless as she thought.
“You call her first miss?” The Lord of Slaughter was perplexed.
“She is First Miss Salamay, albeit from the future. We are all from the future,” Mojard knew they were in a predicament, so he didn’t hide anything and quickly explained the situation.
“Hahaha! No wonder I feel a sense of closeness to her! No wonder she called me father!” The Lord of Slaughter was overjoyed. He pulled Salamay into his embrace. “My good daughter, you have grown so big!”
“Father!” Salamay was moved too. She had been searching for a way to save her father for millennia now, and it was only now that they were finally reunited.
The Saintess interjected with a cough. “I don’t want to interrupt your reunion, but our priority should be to escape from here. The Monster Lord will find this place very soon.”
The Imperial Tomb was filled with the Monster Lord’s subordinates. There was nowhere for them to escape to.
The Lord of Slaughter laughed. “I was hesitant, but since Brother Mo has returned alive and my good daughter has reunited with me, I shall take you to the legendary Celestial Court!”
Zu An was surprised. “You found a way into the Celestial Court?”
“Of course,” the Lord of Slaughter replied proudly. “The Monster Lord only got the better of me because I spent years devoted to investigating the secret of the Fiend races’ Imperial Tomb. My effort wasn’t in vain.”
He turned to Zu An and the Saintess and said. “Even though you have just helped me, the Celestial Court is of grave importance. I can only take you with me if you promise to help me defeat the Monster Lord in the future.”
Zu An and the Saintess exchanged looks. The Saintess told him telepathically, “Big brother, since we couldn’t find the Brilliant Pinflower in the Imperial Tomb, it might be in the Celestial Court instead.”
Zu An had been planning to make another trip into the dungeon anyway, so he nodded. “All right.”
The Saintess also spoke up. “His will is my will.”
The Lord of Slaughter looked at Zu An in surprise. This human wields such influence over the Fiend races’ Saintess.
Salamay looked at Zu An in disdain. This fellow flirts with women no matter where he goes.
Suddenly, the Monster Lord’s roar echoed. He was already not too far away from them.
Without any hesitation, the Lord of Slaughter took out a transparent box. Zu An and Salamay’s breathing quickened. They had seen this item before—it was the Nature Jade Case!
As he opened the box, their surrounding space rippled. The lake before them began revolving swiftly until a glowing door manifested.
What do you think?
