Chapter 559 - 559 389 The Remaining Power of the Desecrated
Chapter 559: Chapter 389 The Remaining Power of the Desecrated Duke Chapter 559: Chapter 389 The Remaining Power of the Desecrated Duke ‘The Lady of the Faded Light actually developed Affection for me?!’
Chen Lun stood still, his eyebrows slightly knit together.
He was quite puzzled by this.
The Church of the Final Cocoon was an organization that devoted itself to Her, and now that he had slaughtered Her believers, he should have been hated for that, but instead, he received Affection…
‘Could it be that the Church of the Final Cocoon got mixed up with the Red Apple Church, and that displeased the Lady of the Faded Light? After all, Her relationship with the Lady Rose isn’t very good…’
Chen Lun began to speculate.
‘Maybe, She doesn’t care about so-called believers… maybe even despises this group of believers.’
He shook his head.
‘Forget it, this isn’t a bad thing after all.’
Chen Lun glanced around to make sure there were no remnants of the Church of the Final Cocoon, then took to the air and headed straight towards the inner part of the church district.
Not a moment later.
He arrived amidst a pile of ruins.
Plenty of bloodstains remained on the ground, and Kingsberg, Mulenga, and other five Governing Officers were standing quietly to the side, murmuring to each other. They seemed to have resolved the fight a while ago and appeared to be waiting for Chen Lun to arrive.
“Sorry, I was a bit slow.”
Chen Lun apologized to them.
“No problem.”
Kingsberg smiled.
“Did you find anything on your side, Jack?”
“Not…”
Chen Lun started to reply.
But after a moment of thought, he decided to mention the incident with the Lady of the Faded Light.
Due to the difficulty of explaining the Affection points indicator on the panel, Chen Lun altered how he presented the matter:
“However, after I eliminated the members of the Church of the Final Cocoon, I seemed to feel a mysterious gaze from a distant place… In that instant, I could almost smell an intense scent of blood, along with numerous chants and prayers, as if calling out the name Judith…”
“What?!”
Kingsberg and the others were taken aback.
Mulenga immediately raised his hand to interrupt Chen Lun.
“Jack!”
Their expressions turned serious in an instant.
Mulenga frowned deeply and said in a stern voice:
“Do not invoke the name… For at the end of the divine path, there is one whose every spoken word is known!”
“You’ve caught the Lady of the Faded Light’s attention…”
Yasmin gazed at Chen Lun, her expression solemn.
“You slaughtered Her believers, so you’ve incurred Her hate?”
Peggy suggested from the side.
The several Governing Officers fell silent for a few seconds, seemingly recognizing the tricky nature of the situation.
“Not exactly…”
Chen Lun shook his head.
“I distinctly felt that the gaze held no malice. On the contrary, that being seemed to have some… Affection towards me?”
“This…”
The five Governing Officers looked at each other, somewhat surprised.
They did not question Chen Lun’s words but chose to trust him.
“It might not be impossible.”
Bindu stroked his chin thoughtfully.
“Not all Angelic Deities love Their believers. Most of the time, They are indifferent… and some even loathe Their believers. The mortals are foolish, believing that their fervent devotion can earn the Deities’ favor, not realizing such actions are merely one-sided presumptions…”
“The Church of the Final Cocoon hasn’t existed for long; it’s been less than twenty years since their inception, and I have never heard of the Lady of the Faded Light bestowing miracles… Perhaps Jack’s actions were exactly to Her liking?”
Peggy looked at the other Governing Officers and shared her analysis.
“The Lady of the Faded Light is a Sub-God level Angel, on the same level as the King of Slaughter. We need not guess too much about Their thoughts…”
Kingsberg said calmly.
He then turned to look at Chen Lun.
“Jack, you should know the three great laws of the Mystic Realm… The first one, the Law of Supernatural Fusion, states that Supernatural powers of the same Sequence and adjacent Sequences tend to aggregate, usually with the higher Sequences attracting the lower. When Supernatural powers complete the aggregation, which is to say advancement, Mystical pollution radiation occurs, the higher the Sequence, the stronger the radiation!”
Kingsberg paused briefly.
“Especially when ascending to Holy Rank, this inevitable radiation pollution will transform along with one’s own Supernatural Power, reaching a terrifying degree… You might not have felt it before, but once you ascend, you will understand… Saints revealing Their Mythical Creature Form are like massive ‘sources of pollution’. Not to mention ordinary people, even Low Sequence Transcendents who glimpse it will be polluted and die of loss of control on the spot. Only when one reaches Mid Sequence and undergoes the Supernatural transformation to obtain Mysterious Resistance, can one withstand it.”
He patted Chen Lun’s shoulder, offering comfort:
“High-ranking beings do not lightly reveal their Mythical Creature Form for a very crucial reason; it is actually Them trying to control Themselves… Every time They use Mythical Power, They must consume Their own Sanity to fight against pollution and madness. This is also why we prefer to use incarnations, after all, using true form comes with risks… So you don’t need to worry too much, regardless of what attitude the Lady of the Faded Light holds toward you, She will not make a move against you easily.”
Chen Lun suddenly understood.
He also heard the subtext in Kingsberg’s words.
It was that he was not worthy enough… not significant enough for the Lady of the Faded Light to personally deal with him.
Through his words, Chen Lun came to understand the complete “Supernatural Law One: The Law of Supernatural Fusion,” and he also learned about another unwritten rule hidden beneath this law—
What do you think?
