Chapter 23 - 23 23 Losing Face
23: Chapter 23: Losing Face 23: Chapter 23: Losing Face Huang Xiaolong looked at Huang Wei and coldly said, “If he doesn’t qualify to sit here, then you are even less qualified!”
“What?
Huang Xiaolong, you!” Huang Wei, upon hearing this and feeling enraged, he possesses a Tenth-level Martial Soul and is the future Manor Master of Huang Family Manor.
Huang Xiaolong actually said he’s not even as good as a servant?!
At that moment, Huang Qide suddenly spoke, “Enough, this is Li Mansion!
It is Elder Li’s grand birthday banquet!”
Upon hearing his grandfather speak, Huang Wei reluctantly gave Huang Xiaolong a hateful glance and said no more.
Then, Huang Qide turned to Huang Xiaolong and said, “Xiao Long, is this person your newly acquired servant?
Indeed, he has no right to sit here!”
Huang Xiaolong frowned, his grandfather was still siding with Huang Wei.
Ever since their Martial Souls had awakened, Huang Qide had always favored Huang Wei in everything.
If it hadn’t been for Li Lu insisting that Huang Xiaolong also come, Grandfather Huang Qide would surely have only brought Huang Wei here.
At that time, Huang Qide added, “Have your servant leave first, let him wait back at the courtyard.”
Leave?!
Huang Xiaolong felt a surge of anger.
Did his grandfather mean to say that Fei Hou didn’t even have the right to stand here?!
“Xiao Long, didn’t you hear what your grandfather said?
Why haven’t you made your servant scram?
This is Elder Li’s grand birthday banquet.
Bringing a servant here, isn’t that embarrassing us?” Huang Ming also spoke up with a tone of rebuke.
Scram?
Huang Xiaolong’s anger roiled, and he sneered, “Even if he is my newly bought servant, it’s still not up to you, Uncle, to point fingers!”
“You!” Huang Ming hadn’t expected that in such a setting, Huang Xiaolong would dare to talk back to him, his eyes going wide.
“Alright, Xiao Long.” Just then, Huang Peng spoke, “Listen to your grandfather, let him return to the courtyard first.” Although feeling that what father Huang Qide and Huang Ming said was a bit too much, Huang Peng also felt that bringing a servant to such an event was indeed inappropriate.
Huang Xiaolong was startled, suppressed the anger in his heart, and finally nodded.
He then said to Fei Hou behind him, “Fei Hou, you go back first and wait for me.”
Fei Hou, from beginning to end, maintained a calm expression: “Yes, Young Master!” After saying that, he bowed, turned, and left.
Huang Wei, watching Fei Hou leave, felt a sense of triumph in his heart.
Sitting next to Huang Xiaolong, Li Lu saw Huang Wei’s triumphant expression and fiercely glared at him.
Just then, a hearty laughter sounded outside the hall; it was Elder Li, Li Mu.
Everyone looked over and saw Li Mu, Li Cheng, and other prominent figures from Li Mansion headed toward the Great Hall surrounded by skilled masters.
Seeing this, everyone stood up.
But just as Li Mu and the others with smiling faces had just walked into the Great Hall, a sudden urgent shout came, “Old Clan Chief, it’s terrible, something terrible has happened!”
The sound was abrupt, and the initially merry Great Hall suddenly fell silent.
Li Mu looked shocked and turned along with everyone else to look.
They saw a Li Mansion guard, his face full of panic and fear, running from outside the Li Mansion gates, arriving in front of Li Mu and Li Cheng, gasping for air, pointing toward the gates, and said in a trembling voice, “Old Clan Chief, outside, outside!”
“Outside?
What has happened?!” Li Mu had a bad feeling and demanded loudly.
Everyone’s hearts tightened.
“Outside, there’s a large coffin!” The guard from Li Mansion caught his breath and said tremblingly.
“What?!
A large coffin!”
“What’s going on?!”
Atop the Great Hall, all the clan leaders and experts who had come to congratulate were taken aback, and a buzzing conversation ensued.
Li Mu’s heart skipped a beat, his expression solemn, “Let’s go!” Having said that, he walked toward the gate of Li Mansion with his son Li Cheng, followed closely by the skilled members of the Li Mansion.
“We should go take a look too,” Huang Qide said, then stepped out of the Great Hall, following Huang Xiaolong and four others out of the gate of Li Mansion.
Li Lu followed Huang Xiaolong, and although she didn’t understand what it meant for someone to place a large coffin at the gate during her grandfather’s grand birthday celebration, she too looked visibly tense.
Huang Xiaolong followed his grandfather Huang Qide out of the gate of Li Mansion and saw a large red coffin placed right in front of the street facing the gate of Li Mansion!
On the coffin, stained with human blood, gory and oozing a pungent smell of bloodiness.
Confronted with this eerie sight, everyone’s heart jumped.
Li Mu approached the coffin, his face turning cold as he shouted, “Who are the scoundrels?
Daring to cause trouble at Li Mansion?
Come out now!” With that shout, airwaves churned around him, forming a giant lion in the sky that roared continuously.
Everyone was startled, their faces full of awe.
Huang Xiaolong’s eyes flickered.
His father had told him about the Combat Skill Li Mu was cultivating.
Could this be the Mystic Grade Intermediate Combat Skill, Heavenly Lion Roar?
A while later, the giant lion in the sky disappeared, and quiet returned to the surroundings.
“Hehe!” Just then, a cold laugh emanated from the void, echoing from all directions making it impossible to pinpoint where it came from.
“Old Man Li, today is your grand eightieth birthday celebration, and we have brought you this gift.
You should be happy.
Why so angry?
People who get angry easily tend to have short lives!”
Everyone scanned the surroundings, trying to locate where the sound had come from.
After a moment, Li Mu and Huang Qide simultaneously looked towards a mansion across the street.
Li Mu leaped up, suddenly shouting, and slapped out a palm.
Under this one palm, countless handprints rotated forming a giant storm, within which clouds faintly appeared.
“Wind Cloud Palm!”
The storm formed by the handprints instantly struck the mansion ahead.
Suddenly, a ghastly green Fist Mark came tearing through the air, meeting Li Mu’s palm power head-on.
The collision triggered a thunderous rumble as two ghastly green figures soared from the mansion into the sky, standing mid-air.
Huang Xiaolong and the others looked on, only to see that these two figures were covered in scales like a snake, with dark eyes and green stripes on their faces, and even tails like a snake tail behind them.
“Soul Transformation!” Huang Xiaolong’s eyes narrowed.
After reaching the Seventh Rank Warrior, the Martial Soul undergoes a second metamorphosis, allowing one’s body to merge with the Martial Soul.
This ability is known as Soul Transformation.
After Soul Transformation, one can possess some innate abilities of the Martial Soul.
For instance, if someone’s Martial Soul is a poisonous snake, after Soul Transformation, their Fighting Energy will carry certain poisons.
Clearly, the Martial Souls of these two were some type of snake, likely poisonous ones.
“Hehe, Old Man Li, your Wind Cloud Palm is nothing special!”
“We won’t kill you now, but within three years, we will take your life!”
“Open the coffin and see the birthday gift we’ve given you!”
The two appeared, sneered coldly, then vanished in a flash wrapped in two ghastly green beams of light, moving incredibly fast and soon disappearing from everyone’s sight.
Li Mu, clearly not expecting them to flee immediately, reacted too late to pursue them.
“Father!” After a while, Li Cheng stepped forward, coming up behind Li Mu, then looking towards the sealed coffin: “Shall we open it?”
Li Mu turned around, took a deep breath, “Open it!”
What do you think?
