Chapter 110: Sleep over?
Chapter 110 - Sleep over?
I slowly dragged myself toward the room me and Viree would be staying in. It seemed they were giving us Ancano's bed. It was a little fucked up, but I had no real problem with it. Stephan walked over to me and paused.
He interrupted my slow pace. "Are you over-encumbered?"
I nodded, "Viree couldn't pick me up either, so I am just dragging myself along."
He looked at the room just up ahead where Viree was shifting the bed around. He turned back to me, "Okay, I have two questions. Number one is How strong is Viree?"
I pulled out Volendrung, "Well, I'd say her greatest feat of strength so far is cracking this. I inspected it and it seems she cracked it by literally shattering that Dragon's skull while Volendrung's enchantments were still effected by the magic from the Eye."
Stephan paused, "Didn't that crack after the Eye was closed."
I stared at Stephan, "Yeah it was and honestly I have more suspicions. However I don't really feel like telling you. Since I was likely just going to bury them and just reforge the hammer."
He blinked, "What changed your mind?"
I shrugged, "I traded the Eye away. The items I got allows me to confirm my theories. After all it is always best to confirm your theories."
Stephan nodded, "Okay, I suppose that brings me to the next point and my own theory."
I raised an eyebrow out of curiosity. "You have a theory about Viree?"
He shook his head, "About both of you, but let's start with you Vek. Just be honest with me, how much do you remember about your past life?"
Now I was a little confused, but I followed along for now. "I was paralyzed, stared outside into the woods a lot. Eventually I was given the chance to play some games and just sort of fell into them. I don't remember much past the games I've played."
Stephan nodded and took a deep breath. "So uh, this is a little awkward to ask. However you weren't ever able to be..." He stared unsure how to continue his sentence.
So I sighed and answered. "No my lower half was completely paralyzed. I couldn't get erections or anything like that. Why are you asking this?"
Stephan cleared his throat, "Yeah, about that. So you don't have much experience in that area? Don't answer I already know you don't. It is why I am bring this up after all."
I nodded and he continued rushing his words out. "I think you love Viree, but don't realize. I mean she clearly likes you and you two are planning to sleep in the same bed. So I wanted to give you the only advice I could possibly give you."
He grabbed my shoulder and I raised an eyebrow, "Vek, pay attention to your feelings."
I smirked at Stephan and shook my head. "I know about my feelings and hers. Though her thoughts allude me. To be honest I don't really care about all that though. So don't worry about it too much. Besides I like to watch Viree try to sneak glances, by the way. She can totally hear all this, which makes it all the funnier how red she is getting."
I pointed at the tomato shaded Viree. She snapped back, "Shut up! Go to bed already."
I motioned and Stephan stared at Viree and back at me. "Okay, my bad. You two are just weird. I suppose I should've expected it." With those last words he left, shaking his head along the way.
I snapped back to my usual self. "Alrighty! Put on this necklace and this ring."
I held up the Dreamworld Amulet and Mentor's ring. She nodded, "Wasn't there a pillow?"
I laughed, "The Pillow of Sweet Dreams? That is an artifact of Vaermina, it is a coma pillow. We only need it if you can't enter a dream."
She nodded and laid flat on the bed after equipping the items. She paused though, "What's this ring do?"
A good question, and the answered need to be worded carefully. "It makes you smart, you said you couldn't decipher the skill trees before. Hopefully wearing it will give you better comprehension."
She punched me in the side anyway. I didn't move from my spot on the bed, I was still over-encumbered after all. I smirked at her inability to push me off the bed. A second later though i was face first on the floor.
She smirked, "Not so smug now."
I sighed and crawled back into the small bed. Feeling Viree's body heat I tried to close my eyes. Viree broke the silence again though, "Should we hold hands? How does this dream thing work?"
Before I could respond she grabbed my hand and curled her fingers into mine. "So?"
I sighed, "Can you turn your head away? Your breath is hot and your clearly anxious. As for the amulet, I've set it up so it will react to my mana while we are asleep. As soon we are both asleep I will be pulled into your dream due to my lingering mana on the amulet."
I felt her nod on the pillow. However she spoke once again, "Shouldn't we have helped the college clean up?"
I shook my head, "Gwenn was announced Archmage. If I interfere anymore it will undermine the college. They appreciate the help, but the college is its own entity. It is essentially several Political problems coming together."
Viree went silent, "Can I get the Coma Pillow?"
I sighed and summoned it from my inventory. Thankfully the weak artifact could only effect one person. Viree laid her head onto the pillow and mid-sentence fell asleep. "Wow, this is incr-"
With her finally silent and my lack of sleep I fell into my own slumber. I woke up a second later in the dreamscape.
I looked around found Viree and I smiled, "It worked!"
She looked over, and began to shout. "I CAN READ! I CAN READ EVERYTHING! THE WORDS AREN'T EVEN HARD TO SOUND OUT!"
Our reading lessons were slow, but she made a ton of progress. Though she still struggled with certain words. It seems with the Mentor's Ring that wasn't a problem. "I'm guessing you were having trouble with Alchemy?"
Viree nodded, "But I can read it!" She paused, "Actually what are you wearing? I kind of like it."
I looked down at my clothes. They weren't my normal dreamscape clothing. It seems since this was her dreamscape it was tailored on her preferences. "It seems tailored to you. This is your dreamscape, the real question is why are you in a dress?"
She looked down, "What? I like it."
Her clothes were close to a Tank Top that had a long cut. The dress dropped to her knees, but underneath a pair of pants existed. I felt my eyes linger a little long on her legs. I snapped back to the matter at hand, while blaming Stephan.
Once my mind was resettled I focused on her Skill Trees. "Just about everything I expected. Although, you have a much higher level than expected. Along with three skill trees I don't."
She became giddy with my words, "Really? Which ones!"
"The first is obvious, The Werewolf Skill Tree." I looked it over she had a dozen in the tree and it was almost completed. All the perks were near normal, but I spotted a few that made my eyes twitch. The first perk that caught my eye was called Pack Member. It increased all previous werewolf abilities while being part of a group.
The second perk that was interesting, was also the very last perk Viree had unlocked too. Between human, It applied all werewolf perks to the human form. Meaning Bestial Strength, Savage Strikes and so on applied to Viree in her human form.
The other two perks I noticed were the ones she had yet to acquire. "Viree do you have any perk points?"
She looked over at me, "Yeah why? I have 22."
My eyes widened, "22?"
I paused and looked at all her skill trees and breathed out. 22 made sense, comparing her skill trees to mine I had the same amount of perk points. I frowned, Actually no, "You have 3 more perk points than me."
She smirked at me, but I rolled my eyes. "Finish the Werewolf Skill Tree here."
She nodded and the last two stars brightened. She blinked, "Whoa!"
I watched a sudden shift in her. "I feel like I could shift freely..."
I nodded and looked back at the last two perks. "Freed Form, allows one to shift freely between your forms. The last perk the Catalogue, allows one to acquire other blessings of Hircine."
I had turned away from her so when I turned back I blinked in surprise. "Why do you have ears and a tail."
She stared at me, "I tried to shift only half way, looked at my hands."
Her hands were furred and clawed. "Huh... Furry powers, how funny."
It made some sense, I mean there was a half werewolf in game 6. Pretty sure the lore was that it was Sinding's daughter. I touched Viree's ears, "Interesting, mastery over the werewolf form."
She slapped my hand away. "You said I had three skill trees that you didn't what are the other ones."
She shifted back and her wolf like features disappeared. So I turned to a skill tree that had only one perk point in it. I spoke its name, "Companionship."
It was a skill tree based on being a follower. Most of them were buffs like increased regen. Though the skill tree was interesting, it was the first skill tree that had locked paths. I had a feeling all the branches would be unlocked eventually though. As one was related to being lovers and another based on separation from your partner. I pointed at the free branch though. "Get this perk."
She looked at it, "Grants locate partner? Okay."
I nodded, "Could be handy."
She shrugged, "I can't read the other paths. Can you? They are just black stars."
I paused, "You can't read them?"
She nodded, "Yeah, they are just little voids where the perks are."
I smiled, "Don't worry about them. They will eventually unlock."
She nodded again and placed two perks into the skill tree. "What is the last skill tree? This one might be handy as you said, but I want to know if the last one is important or not."
I pointed to skill tree that sat where conjuration should've been. "The skill tree is actually replacing a different one. That skill tree is conjuration for me."
She looked at me with curiosity and looked at the skill tree. "Mystic arts?"
I nodded, "It is new to me. Though I do have a pretty good guess. Do you know your family history?"
She shook her head, "Not really no."
I paused, "Do you remember how you contracted Lycanthropy?"
She frowned a little, "No, I was a little girl when I contracted it.
I nodded, "Sebastian Lort is a Breton, but I think your father was a reach-man mage. It would explain your lycanthropy too. Many Reach-man worship Hircine."
She frowned, "So this skill tree is due to my family history?"
I nodded as I looked over the skill tree. Most of the perks were conjuration adjacent. "You could likely still learn the conjuration skill tree. Though you would need to unlock it rather than start with it like me."
I looked at the skill tree again. "Actually... This could be useful."
She walked over and looked at it a little closer. "Oh! Oh! I see what you mean. This perk up here is the one you are referring too?"
I nodded as I read the perk. "Magic Strikes, use raw magic to increase your physical power. It would be deadly later on. Just add one perk point to it every time you wake up here."
She nodded and placed one perk into the tree. "Is that all there is too this?"
I looked at her other skill trees, "Max out your two-handed skill tree. You have only one left."
She nodded, "With this I used 6 perk points. What else do you think i should invest my perk points in."
I looked at her skill trees, "You have two legend skill trees like me. Though the two you have is in combat. Your heavy armor is half filled, while your sneak is all stealth based no sneak attacks. Which is good on both." Her heavy armor was 74, but the perks she could acquire weren't that needed. While her sneak was 60 exactly. Which gave her all the fundamental stealth skills.
"You have 16 perk points left right?" I asked Viree, knowing the answer.
She looked at what I was staring out. "You want me to invest in Blessings and Empowerment?"
I nodded, "You are a Breton, but you don't use magic or any racial skills. Yet you have Empowerment at level 53."
She blinked, "The number increased because I am a werewolf."
I nodded, "Which means the perk points will increase your werewolf abilities as well."
She looked at Blessings, "Blessings is only level 29 though."
This was true, "It may be lower level than others, but clearly you are effected by some kind of blessing."
I smiled as I pointed to a perk on the skill tree. "I am guessing it is from when i cast magic on you."
The perk I pointed to was simple in its name. Viree read it aloud, "Strengthen effect, interesting."
I calculated some numbers, "Grab that perk."
She grabbed the three perks needed and finally the perk itself. She looked at me, "Should I increase it? I can put two points into it."
I nodded, "Yeah, also put one more in proficiency."
She looked at the Empowerment Skill Tree. "10 more, where should I put these."
I looked at the skill tree and pointed. "Racial effects, Racial Resistance, Racial blood."
She selected the perk points in Empowerment. Each perk only had one level to them. The higher perks were the ones which had several levels to them. A reverse of most other skill trees. "Finally put the rest in Racial ability."
She nodded and with she placed the last three of her perks into Racial Ability. "What even is a raci- Wait, I can feel it."
I raised an eyebrow, "Explain."
She paused thinking about her words. "It feels like... It feels like four times a day I could absorb magic that hits me. I just kind of feel it? This is weird."
I thought about this on my own. "Is it just one attack? or does it have a time period?"
She shook her head, "I can't tell. Just that if I really push myself I could block the magic that hits me."
"Fascinating! When we wake up we will ask Gwenn or someone else to test it." Viree paused and her silence made me think about Stephan's words. I sighed, "Viree?"
She looked at me, "Yeah?"
I sighed, "I'm not going to create a harem of girls. Stop worrying about it."
She blushed, "I wasn't!"
I rolled my eyes, "Says the tomato."
She looked at the two doors that lead no where, but else where. "Can't we just use those to wake up?"
I nodded, "We could, but we have time. Sit down, the stars above the skill trees are real."
She sat down, "Are they? I don't recognize them."
I smiled, "Yeah, I don't either, but they are real."
I pointed up into the sky, "They form random shapes, but they do have patterns." I laid backwards, "Not so bad isn't?"
I couldn't see her, but I could hear her smile. "We are making progress. What is the ultimate goal?"
I held out my hand. "I want godhood."
She looked over at me and reached out a hand. I grabbed it and she said nothing while we looked up into the sky. We would wake up naturally, she didn't have my weird astral mana restrictions. So we just stayed inside her dream, waiting.
What do you think?
