Chapter 441: The Formidable Protagonist
Chapter 441 - 441: The Formidable Protagonist
A chorus of howls echoed through the air as the street battle raged on.
Facing the oncoming elite monsters, the two girls, Kasamoto Eri and Angel, who had earlier been somewhat at a loss during the zombie horde attack, finally found themselves with a chance to shine.
Especially Angel, the muscle-bound brawler—her fists and kicks hit like artillery shells, and her damage output had always been terrifyingly high.
Now that she'd soaked in the Dreamwater from Dream Island, her stats had skyrocketed even further.
The few elite monsters charging straight at them—even the most durable werewolves—couldn't withstand a single heavy whip kick from her.
It wasn't until more than ten minutes later that the chaos on the street finally came to a halt.
Looking around at the sea of corpses, and the shredded remains scattered about by the bloodstorm, Qin Ming frowned deeply.
He walked up to a corpse, raised his hand, and began drawing in massive amounts of blood, which he rapidly absorbed to replenish himself.
With the influx of blood, Qin Ming's body bulked up again, returning to peak condition. Even the Muramasa Demon Blade in his hand began to take on an increasingly sinister hue as it absorbed more and more blood.
But just as Qin Ming was focused on absorbing blood, an unexpected event struck.
Amid a sudden roar, a motorcycle came tearing in from the distance at incredible speed.
Before it even got close, the bike was already skidding sideways.
The rider let go of the handlebars and launched into the air.
The motorcycle scraped along the ground, throwing sparks as it rocketed straight toward the unguarded Qin Ming, who was still siphoning blood.
Qin Ming's pupils contracted at the sight. Without thinking, he whipped his cloak.
With a sharp hiss of wind and clinking metal, the iron beads on his cloak sliced the heavy motorcycle clean in half. The halves barely missed him as they shot past, crashing and erupting into a fireball behind him.
The sudden ambush had been easily deflected by Qin Ming.
But before the cloak had even settled, the attacker who had leapt from the motorcycle was already charging at him, roaring furiously.
And as she charged, she tossed off her outer garment.
It wasn't a trench coat—but a yellow Taoist robe! A traditional Chinese Taoist robe!
"Summon, Fire Phoenix!"
Throwing off the robe revealed a modified, form-fitting yellow Taoist outfit underneath.
This beautiful female Taoist sprinted forward while drawing the peachwood sword from her back, forming a hand seal as she growled out her incantation.
The peachwood sword began to glow, and in the next instant, a massive fire phoenix burst from the blade, transforming into a storm of blazing fire that swept toward Qin Ming.
Faced with such intense flames, Qin Ming didn't dare block it with just his cloak this time. Instead, he flicked his arm and commanded the surrounding blood to rise and form a protective barrier around him.
Just as the blood shield finished forming, the fire phoenix slammed into it head-on. Flames and blood collided, and the ear-piercing sound of burning filled the air. Neither side gained the upper hand—the clash was dead even.
Seeing that her attack hadn't worked, the female Taoist gritted her teeth hard. With a sharp flick of her peachwood sword, she ended the previous technique and thrust it forward in a direct strike.
No one knew what material her sword was made of, but it absolutely lived up to the phrase "cut through iron like mud."
With a flash of cold light, the peachwood sword pierced right through the blood shield, aiming straight for Qin Ming.
But at the last possible moment, Qin Ming parried it away with his Muramasa Demon Blade.
Staring at the peachwood sword trembling beside him, Qin Ming furrowed his brows.
With a sharp sweep of his arm, the blood wall in front of him suddenly exploded into countless fragments, shooting toward his opponent like shrapnel.
Startled, the female Taoist swiftly retreated while rotating her body, drawing her sword back and igniting a yellow talisman in her hand.
As flames flared up, a ring of fire surrounded her and incinerated the blood fragments in midair.
The two landed back on the ground, pulling apart to reset the distance between them.
The female Taoist struck a pose, holding her peachwood sword in one hand and a Taoist yellow talisman in the other, her aura fierce and unyielding.
Qin Ming retracted the blood and stood there with a stern face, his eyes grave.
Because he had already seen the intruder's stats—utterly terrifying stats!
[Name: Zhao Honghua]
[Strength: 50]
[Constitution: 50]
[Agility: 60]
[Spirit: 80]
[Skills: Secret Record of Mount Longhu (S-rank), Dragon-Tiger Fist (A-rank), Summon Fire Phoenix (S-rank), Summon Thunder Dragon (S-rank)]
[Description: Successor of the current generation of Mount Longhu. Master of the sect's secret arts, aided by both Fire Phoenix and Thunder Dragon. Hailed as a once-in-a-millennium prodigy.]
Three S-rank skills! One A-rank! And not a single attribute below 50!
The stats of Zhao Honghua—one of the three main protagonists—weren't inferior to Qin Ming's at all! In fact, her skillset was even more extravagant than his!
Before Qin Ming could snap out of his shock, Zhao Honghua was already raising her peachwood sword again, roaring as she launched into another charge.
Seeing this, Qin Ming quickly began retreating while raising his hand.
"Wait! Hold on! We have no bad blood between us, right? Why are you attacking me?!"
At his shout, Zhao Honghua stopped abruptly and pointed her sword at him, shouting sharply:
"Ha! You demonic scum! The righteous must purge evil wherever it lurks!"
"And what makes you think I'm demonic scum?!"
Qin Ming immediately grew annoyed. After blurting out a retort, he glanced around at the corpses he had drained dry, paused for a second, then muttered under his breath:
"Besides, I didn't harm you specifically. Why are you butting in?"
"Hmph! Still running your mouth at death's door? Courting death!"
It was obvious Zhao Honghua, a hot-headed wielder of thunder and fire, had no interest in exchanging words with the likes of him.
With another furious shout, she raised her sword once more.
But before she could strike, a figure suddenly darted between them with a sliding step.
"Chotto matte! Time out! I think there might've been a misunderstanding here! Hold on, gorgeous, let's talk this out!"
Seeing a human suddenly enter the scene, Zhao Honghua instinctively paused and gave the newcomer a once-over.
Her brows furrowed when her eyes landed on Angel's revealing outfit.
"And who are you to him?"
Angel grinned wide. "He's my boss."
"Boss? Hmph! Helping evil, enabling tyranny! And dressing so indecently! You deserve death too! Take this!"
"What the hell?!"
Startled by the whistle of the incoming sword, Angel quickly dodged aside.
After scrambling back to Qin Ming's side, she stood with her hands on her hips, fuming.
"You crazy bitch! You really tried to hit me?! Boss! Grab her legs and rip her in half!"
Just as Angel finished shouting, Kasamoto Eiri, standing nearby clutching a machine gun, calmly added:
"No! That would be such a waste! Sleep with her!"
"Right! Sleep with her first, then grab her legs and rip her in half!"
"Exactly!"
The two flanked Qin Ming, going back and forth until they reached a disturbingly unified consensus.
Qin Ming, stuck in the middle, was completely dumbfounded. Looking at the increasingly furious Zhao Honghua on the other side, he couldn't help but think—
Maybe she's not entirely wrong to see us all as villains...
