Chapter 30 - Hao Datong

Chapter 30: Hao Datong

A dark stone chamber, dimly lit by flickering candlelight.

Suddenly, a golden light flared.

A flame, radiating a golden aura, ignited like the sun piercing the darkness. As the flame illuminated the room, a refined and striking face emerged from the shadows—long silver hair, sharp sword-like brows, and a serene yet enigmatic smile gracing his lips.

With a firm grip of his right hand, the golden flame gradually faded, swallowed by the darkness once more.

Imperial Sky’s lips curled slightly, his piercing gaze cutting through the gloom. In a low voice, he murmured, “The Dragon Elephant Flame, derived from the ‘Dragon Elephant Bo Ruo Gong,’ enhances the human physique.

The ‘Burning Decree’ refines foreign flames. Now, with the ‘Fighting Qi of Burning’ circulating through the ‘Dragon Elephant Bo Ruo Gong,’ it unexpectedly produces flames infused with its essence. It seems that this ‘Burning Decree’ not only devours external flames but also possesses an additional transformative effect.

I have cultivated the ‘Dragon Elephant Bo Ruo Gong’ to its fifth layer. Each layer refines the strength of one dragon and one elephant, and now, this power has coalesced into the ‘Dragon Elephant Flame.’ Although the increase in strength is substantial, it still falls short of true legendary might. However, the enhancement of my physique and raw power is undeniable.

Right now, the ‘Dragon Elephant Flame’ is merely in its embryonic stage. Once the ‘Dragon Elephant Bo Ruo Gong’ reaches its peak, the flame will fully manifest into a true, independent existence instead of its current rudimentary form. Yet, for this transformation to occur, it requires an endless supply of spiritual qi—something the world of the ‘Divine Eagle’ cannot provide.”

A silent sigh escaped him as his gaze deepened. A cold smile played on his lips. “The ‘Dragon Elephant Bo Ruo Gong’ can birth flames, but the Quanzhen Sect’s techniques cannot. The formation of such flames requires certain conditions. It seems I must collect more secret manuals in the future.”

As his words faded, Imperial Sky leaped, his figure vanishing into the shadows as though he had become one with the night.

Beyond the ancient tomb, the night sky stretched vast and star-studded.

Imperial Sky stepped onto the soft grass, his brows furrowing as a sense of unease crept over him. “Why has Long’er not come to greet me? Even more troubling, where is Grandma Sun?”

Suspicion flickered in his eyes. Without hesitation, he quickened his pace toward the bamboo house.

As he stepped inside, his eyes were drawn to a dark crimson stain—blood pooled in the center of the room.

His gaze shifted to a piece of bamboo paper, its surface inscribed with Little Dragon Lady’s elegant script.

A chilling aura spread from him. His expression darkened, killing intent flashing in his silver eyes. The faint silver flames within his pupils roared like a storm of fire.

Turning sharply, he strode out of the room, his voice cutting through the cold night like a blade. “Quanzhen Sect… you had best pray that not a single harm has come to the dragon child. If she has suffered even a scratch, then Quanzhen Sect shall cease to exist.”

Murderous intent thickened in the air, the taste of blood lingering in the wind.

His every step resonated with silent fury, his sword-like brows furrowing as waves of oppressive energy radiated outward.

Quanzhen Sect.

The sect grounds bustled with movement, figures coming and going amidst the ancient halls.

A man in black Taoist robes stood in the courtyard, gripping a Taiji longsword. His eyes fell upon the fresh bloodstains along its edge, his expression conflicted with remorse. In a hushed, bitter tone, he muttered, “This… this was never my intention…”

A desperate cry tore through the silence.

A disheveled young boy threw himself over the frail form of an elderly woman, his body shaking with grief. “Granny… Granny… do not die! If you die, who else in this world will care for Guo’er?! Granny…!”

Lying on the cold ground was none other than Grandma Sun.

With what little strength she had left, she turned her gaze toward the young woman standing nearby, her voice weak yet filled with urgency. “Miss… please… take in this child. He has suffered much. If he remains here, he will surely perish at their hands… Miss…”

Her voice faded, and her body fell still.

Little Dragon Lady’s brows knitted together. Her icy gaze swept across the scene, her expression unreadable.

Her eyes locked onto the black-robed Taoist before her, the last vestiges of color draining from her face. Silver light flickered in her hands.

“Draw your weapon.”

Her voice was devoid of emotion, carrying only the weight of an impending storm.

The Taoist sighed deeply, his grip on his sword faltering as though the weight of his actions had finally settled upon him.

Without hesitation, Little Dragon Lady flicked her wrist. The silver belt in her hands shot forward like a flying dragon.

“Jade Maiden Sword Technique.”

A creation of Lin Chaoying, the technique was designed to counter Quanzhen’s swordplay.

Hao Datong’s expression hardened as his first strike was effortlessly deflected. He stepped back, attempting a counter with a swift thrust to his left.

But before he could react, the silver belt arced through the air, its movement as swift and unpredictable as a meteor.

Bang!

A powerful force surged through the belt, colliding with Hao Datong’s longsword. His blade trembled violently before slipping from his grasp, clattering onto the stone floor.

Staring at the fallen weapon, his eyes widened in disbelief. At last, he murmured, “Such profound internal strength…”

Little Dragon Lady’s gaze remained as cold as ever, her voice quiet yet firm. “End your own life.”

She had never taken a life before, nor did she know how.

Imperial Sky had once gifted her a millennium-old blood ginseng, strengthening her physique. The refined energy granted her an additional decade’s worth of cultivated power. Now, wielding such strength, her belt alone carried the force of a thousand pounds, rendering Hao Datong defenseless in a single strike.

“Kill yourself.”

Her command came again, unwavering.

Hao Datong reached for his fallen blade. He stared at it for a long moment before exhaling a weary sigh. “I have taken an innocent life and suffered an utter defeat. What right do I have to remain in this world?”

With a resolute expression, he lifted the blade to his throat.

Suddenly, a resounding laugh echoed through the air.

A figure clad in black Taoist robes descended from above, a duster in his grasp.

As he landed, he flicked his wrist.

Bang!

Hao Datong’s sword was knocked away once more, landing with a dull clang.

Hao Datong lifted his head, his expression shifting from shock to shame. Clasping his fists together, he bowed deeply toward the newcomer, his voice heavy with guilt.

“Elder Brother…”
