Chapter 60 60: Free XP
It was at that very moment that Luka heard the system's mechanical voice resound within his mind.
[You have taken away an opportunity from the Main Character: The Everore Greatsword]
[1,000 Fate has been deducted from the Main Character]
[99,000 Fate remaining]
Luka's eyes briefly widened in satisfaction before narrowing with malicious glee.
He slowly turned his head, allowing himself a wide, toothy grin—
One that didn't belong on any so-called "Extra."
The fact that he had just crippled the main character's future, even slightly, sent a wave of triumph surging through him.
'That's one piece off the board,' Luka thought.
'It won't be long before that bastard ends up six feet under.'
He cleared his throat with an exaggerated cough, snapping himself back.
"Pardon me," Luka said casually, glancing back. "Had to cough."
Jilun waved it off. "It's fine. Now then—I'll leave you with my daughter. She'll guide you to where we keep the monsters. As for me, I have a certain greatsword to collect."
"Of course," Luka said with a nod. "I won't hold you."
He turned toward Rosie.
"Would you be so kind as to show me the way?"
Rosie gave a curt nod. "Follow me."

"Here we are."
With a firm grip, Rosie pushed open the heavy double doors, their rusted hinges groaning in protest.
The doors creaked wide, revealing a grim, enclosed arena bathed in dim, flickering light.
The air was thick with the metallic stench of blood.
On the ground, dried pools of crimson stained the cracked floor, and the remains of dead monsters lay strewn about—
Some still impaled by weapons.
The smell hit Luka like a bag of bricks—foul, earthy, and sharp with decay.
Roars and guttural snarls echoed from the cages lining the walls, where countless monsters were locked away, restless and starving.
Their eyes gleamed with primal fury and desperation, locked onto the new scent that had just entered.
"My apologies," Rosie said as she stepped aside, her voice formal yet faintly apologetic.
"We haven't had the chance to clean up the last mess. I hope it doesn't bother you too much."
Luka raised a hand with a casual flick as he entered, unbothered.
"No worries. I asked to use it, didn't I? I wasn't expecting anything fancy."
As his boots echoed across the blood-slick floor, his sharp gaze swept the cages.
His eyes soon settled on one in particular—a rusted, iron-barred enclosure filled with goblins.
They were filthy and naked, their green, gnarled bodies twitching with excitement or madness—he couldn't quite tell.
Some clung to the bars, shrieking and gnashing their teeth, while others simply lay in the corner, twitching or scratching at themselves.
'Fuckers look like they're on something…' Luka thought to himself.
He cracked his neck and offered a faint smirk.
"Well, I'll start off easy. Work up a bit of sweat first."
He drew the Soulreaper Dagger.
The moment the weapon left its sheath, like before, a subtle, dark mist unfurled from its blade like curling smoke.
The temperature in the room dropped a degree, and something shifted—
Primal fear struck through every living monster nearby.
For a split second, all the monsters went still.
Then chaos followed.
The moment of terror passed, but what replaced it was worse—agitation.
Frenzy.
Rage.
Every monster behind the bars began to howl, snarl, or bang against their cages even louder.
Luka smiled wider.
'Oh, they're scared shitless.'
He watched them, all the monsters, all puffed up with snarls and barked threats—but their trembling limbs and shifting gazes told a different story.
They were afraid.
And Luka knew it.
As he stepped closer to a certain cage—
The goblins scrambled to the far end of the cage, pressing into one another like frightened vermin.
Their screeches quieted into low, guttural growls, but their eyes betrayed them.
"How many of you green bastards are there?" Luka muttered, casually lifting his free hand.
He pointed one by one at the goblins.
"One… two… three… four…"
He continued until he reached the last, a smaller goblin twitching in the back.
"…Twelve."
"Hmmm." Luka lowered his arm, a slight smirk curling at his lips.
"Open Status."

"Only need to kill five of them to level up?" Luka tilted his head, a little amusement flickering across his face.
"Easy enough."
He twirled the Soulreaper Dagger once in his grip; the blade releasing a faint hiss as black mist curled upward, almost like it was excited.
The weapon had a hunger—
One that matched Lukas.
"Rosie, mind opening the cage for me?"
"…"
Rosie hesitated for just a second.
"Are you sure you don't want armor?"
"What for? I'm not the one who should be worried." Luka flashed his teeth.
Rosie glanced at the goblins—
Then back at Luka.
The expression on his face said more than his words ever could.
Without saying anything further, Rosie walked to the control lever on the side of the arena and gripped it.
The second she pulled it, the iron gate to the goblins' cage screeched open.
Immediately, the goblins burst forward, saliva slinging from their jagged mouths as they let out distorted, guttural shrieks.
They charged not at Luka, but at Rosie—
Driven by instinct or perhaps sensing the weaker prey.
"Really?" Luka shot to the side in a blur.
"Where do you bastards think you're going?"
His blade found the throat of the closest goblin, sliding in clean and deep.
The green monaster gargled, choked, and green blood sprayed out.
The Soulreaper Dagger pulsed darkly—inky tendrils of mist swirled up around the goblin's corpse.

Without pause, Luka locked onto his next target—a goblin that had stumbled over a discarded spear.
It shrieked as he closed the distance, plunging the dagger into the back of its skull with a sickening crunch.
He placed a boot on the twitching body and yanked the dagger free—but the goblin wasn't dead.
It spasmed weakly, breath hitching in panic.
Then the black mist flowed again, crawling over its eyes like ink, freezing it in terror.
"Stay still," Luka muttered coldly.
He drove the dagger into its eye.
