Chapter 233: End Of Monster Hunting?
In the last 10 or so minutes of the competition, nothing overly exciting happened after the confrontation between the two teams.
In the end, the score came to about 293 for their side, while the opposing team reached 203.
Lillian, having watched the timer tick down to zero, found the world going dark. Soon, a bright light appeared, followed by a cold hiss...
Sitting up straight, she pulled herself out of her pod before taking a look around. She was back at the technological building.
She moved her gaze beside her, watching as Norman and Charlotte exited their pods as well.
She smiled at them before looking opposite her, finding Cicillian standing in front of his pod, glaring at all three of them.
He raised his finger, pointing at them furiously.
"This isn't over! Our Academy are still superior compared to yours!"
After yelling that, he took a sharp turn to the side, following his team members as they exited the room with the help of a staff member.
Lillian's face twitched.
'So annoying...'
Getting up from her pod, she stretched her back, letting out a satisfied moan. She was then approached by her two teammates, who stared at her with awe.
"You actually won against two of them! How did you do it?!" Charlotte asked, eccentrically. And she wasn't alone in this question, for Norman nodded his head along with her words.
Lillian shrugged, avoiding their intense gazes.
"I just got lucky. That's all... I still died in the end anyway."
Before they could comment on that part, Lillian turned to them and asked:
"How about you guys? I assume you guys faced Cicillian."
Norman folded his arms.
"He was a formidable opponent. Fortunately, his arrogance was a weapon I could use."
"Oh? Is that so?" Lillian tilted her head, glancing towards Charlotte, "I'm quite surprised you survived that encounter. No offense."
"I am taking that as an offence!" Charlotte huffed, giving a half-turn to the side and pouting. Then, she sighed:
"But... I was lucky to survive. Norman here really did all the work. I just happen to finish him off in the end."
Lillian let out a hum before raising her hands and patting their shoulders.
The two, startled by her sudden gesture, gave her a curious look. They were met with a warm smile.
"Not bad, you two. I knew that putting you guys on my team would be the best option. Although we couldn't win flawlessly, it was still a win."
She shrugged, "And that's all that matters."
***
After exiting the Technological Building and bidding the two farewell, she walked through the streets of the Academy Realm, which had grown far more crowded.
It seemed that everyone was leaving the Colosseum now that today's competition was over.
She should probably go over there in case Marionette was waiting for her.
Thinking something similar to this, she changed route and quickly made her way over there.
She drew countless attentions and even had been stopped by a few to congratulate her on winning, as well as complimenting her skills.
Once she finally reached the path straight into the Colosseum, her eyes couldn't help but glance several times towards the stands still left out.
They were going to be here until the end of the tournament.
She squinted her eyes forward, staring into the distance.
Leaning against the Colosseum's outside walls was the beautiful Assassin, who was casually listening to music with her arms crossed and eyes closed.
She soon opened them once, sensing Lillian's approaching presence.
Lillian gave her a small wave as she leaned against the wall beside her. She watched as the woman took off her headphones, making them disappear before greeting her back.
"Welcome back. Did you have fun?"
"Uh, huh!"
Lillian wrapped her arms behind her head, leaning against them.
"It was a lot more fun than I thought. Where's Millis and Reph—?"
"They went home already." Marionette immediately answered, surprising Lillian a bit.
"Oh... 'kay... Have you been waiting here by yourself, then?"
Marionette nodded, then lowered her right hand towards Lillian's left, snaking her fingers around it.
"It's fine. You're here. And that's all that matters." She whispered, holding Lillian's hand in a warm manner as she interlocked their fingers.
She stared into Lillian's eyes, who gave a stunned expression before sighing with a defeated smile.
The girl then said:
"You're so adorable that it actually hurts to leave you alone."
"As it should. You should always be by me, after all."
Lillian's face twitched, "At this rate, I feel like you might develop some attachment issues to me."
She watched as the woman tilted her head, her red eyes blinking at her silently. Marionette then pouted at her.
"That's not very nice. Just because I want to be with you doesn't mean I will eventually develop issues."
Lillian giggled, "Yeah, yeah, I know~... Just joking." After saying that, she stood on her toe and raised her hand to the top of the Assassin's head, patting it.
Marionette, confused as to why she was suddenly being patted, gazed at the girl curiously, staring at her usual smile.
She then heard her say:
"Even so... Even if you did develop such an issue..."
She paused her patting and moved her hand to the back of the woman's head. She increased her height and then pulled the Assassin's head in.
Marionette, who had been silently watching her hand, widened her eyes as her lips met the girl. A sense of pleasure flashed through her eyes, followed by confusion.
Once Lillian's lips left hers, she heard her speak:
"I wouldn't really mind if you develop such an issue. I would naturally take care of you anyway."
Lillian pulled on the Assassin's cheek, playing with it as she laughed at the woman's shyness and the rosy tint that appeared on her cheek.
Marionette, who was looking away, eventually drew her eyes back to the girl before grabbing her hand.
Pulling it away from her cheek, she quickly leaned in.
What do you think?
