Chapter 215: Tournament Begins?
"I got this for you."
Marionette blinked at the gun raised towards her.
She then tilted her head.
What did Lillian mean by this gun was for her?
Was there some deeper meaning, or did she actually mean to get her a firearm?
Taking it off the girl's hand, she stared at it curiously, inspecting its description.
Lillian, seeing how suspicious Marionette was of the gun, smiled wryly.
"There's nothing much to it... I just wanted to get you a gift..."
"..."
Marionette turned her attention back from the firearm to the girl.
"A... Gift?" She tilted her head, "You bought me a Regular handgun as a gift—?"
Lillian pouted, "What? Is something wrong with my handgun?" She squinted her eyes at the woman, "I'll take it back if you're so unhappy..."
Marionette watched the girl raise her hand towards the firearm and narrowed her eyes.
She slowly backed the gun away from the approaching hand.
"I have never said I am unhappy, Lillian. In fact..."
Lillian watched as Marionette leaned in, pulling her fringe up, and pecked her forehead.
"In fact... I'm overjoyed at your thoughtfulness, Lillian..." She then leaned away, ignoring Lillian's blush and turning her eyes back to the handgun.
"I'm merely confused why you had decided to gift me such an item."
Gripping the handle tightly, she pushed her thumb out and placed it on the side of the cylinders.
Clack—!
Pushing out the cylinder, she looked inside to find that the holes for the bullets were empty.
"And one with no ammunition it seems..."
"Bah! I got the ammo stored!" She flipped her hand, her blush having already died down. "And this isn't just any ordinary handgun! This just so happens to be a particularly special one. One of a kind, you might say!"
"A... One of a kind...?"
Marionette blinked at the girl.
"You speak of it as if it was some kind of a collector's item." She then stiffened, "Is this handgun you got me such a thing?"
"Wha—? No, no. It's not that old to be such a relic... Actually..." Lillian tilted her head side-to-side, "Alright, it's pretty old in history. But it's not just a collector's item! It's a pretty powerful weapon."
She then froze and added, "I'm sure its pretty powerful, once you unlocked the item's full potential."
"... I see..."
After saying that, she waved it away into her spatial storage.
Once doing that, she returned her gaze to the Rabbit to find her...
"I also..."
... Pressing the tips of her index finger together like a shy child...?
"I also bought it for you celebrate us getting together..."
Lillian's eyes rapidly darted between the woman and the ground.
Marionette's stoic face remained facing the girl. Her eyes flickered in confusion as she asked:
"You got me a gift for such a reason?"
"Wha...? Is that not a good reason?"
"It's an excellent reason... However..."
Marionette tilted her head, "Why bother buying such a thing when..." She smiled playfully, "You can just offer yourself to me?"
"... Eh?"
Lillian placed her hands on the ground behind her, pushing herself back as she watched the Assassin crawl in her direction.
"Just think about it, Lillian...
"You wouldn't have needed to spend money, which is something you dislike doing...
"You wouldn't have needed to think so hard about what to get me, although I would be happy with just about anything..."
Eventually, they made it into the centre of the living room.
This was also where Lillian's distancing from the Assassin came to a stop as her back met the side of the room's coffee table.
She drew her eyes back from the table and back to the front, finding the woman climbing onto her lap and placing her hands on her shoulders.
Marionette leaned her face into the girl's ears and whispered, "Such small inconveniences could have been easily avoided... You are aware that you are the... Perfect congratulatory gift for me, right?"
Lillian, watching the woman lean her face back from her ear and stare at her dead in the eyes, stared back nervously.
"I-Is that so...? How silly of me... Hehehe... But that handgun will be extremely helpful to you, y'know! You just got to use it a—"
Lillian was then shushed and stopped by a finger that was meticulously placed on her lips.
"Let's not talk about such matters for now."
Marionette then smirked, "Let's bond a little before your big game..."

[15:00]
"Welcome back, everyone, to this year's Annual Competition! And..."
Standing on a large pillar at the centre of the Colosseum, the announcer shouted as he looked across the countless people seated.
"From what I see, you guys must have brought plenty more people to watch the exciting show that will spark soon enough!"
Compared to last year's tournament, this year, there were plenty more prominent figures in the stands and in the four main VIP boxes.
However, he wasn't allowed to spend too much time gawking over their appearance, for he had to continue.
"The ones competing in this year's competition will be Louis's Mana Academy, who was kind enough to lend this wonderful Colosseum. And Luton's School of Prestigious Magic!"
Above the announcer and pillar, a holographic blue screen appeared. On it were familiar names and a bold title at the top reading: "Monster Hunt."
Below this bold title were four teams of three matched with one another.
[Lillian Ker Arius, Charlotte Dornez, Norman Bracket = Cicillian Parrot, Lincoln Bravo, Marc Alibin]
[Millis Vellen, Gram Savage, Lula Magna = Reuben Thorn, Historia Kraft, Quinn Farfetch]
"Today and tomorrow, one of these two teams will be going at it! And for today, we will be witnessing the first team on this list."
Rumble...!
Once his booming voice said that, the pillar he was standing on was brought back to the ground. Following his disappearance, a massive rectangular cube manifested in the air.
It displayed a scene of a mountain surrounded by a thick forest, showcasing its abundance of life as well as cutting to the wild monsters that lay within it.
This cube was then separated into two, which revealed the two teams and their members' appearances...
What do you think?
