Chapter 29: Welcome to Love Island — Wait, Why Is There a Kraken?
Location: “Remote Training Island” (Definitely Not Just a Vacation Resort)
A single mana airship drifted across crystal-blue skies, carrying five people and one enchanted mop.
Zephyr Arclight stood on the deck, watching the ocean shimmer below. He wore a loose linen shirt, sleeves rolled to his elbows. The sea breeze tousled his midnight-black hair as he quietly held a cup of coffee like it owed him something.
Behind him, four girls argued over the snack basket.
“No, Rosalia, we do not need twelve holy water canteens,” Arwen snapped.
“It’s hydration,” Rosalia pouted. “And purification.”
Selena skimmed the itinerary tablet. “We're already two minutes off schedule.”
Drakynia was flexing. “Can we spar on the beach? I want to see how sand affects footwork.”
Zephyr turned slightly. “Did anyone else see that… tentacle?”
Location: Love Island (Unofficial Name)
The so-called “training retreat” turned out to be an academy-owned off-grid island, supposedly used for “emergency combat drills.” It had:
•Pristine beaches
•A full spa
•A hot spring
•Suspiciously well-decorated cabanas
“Oh no,” Zephyr murmured. “It’s a trap.”
Selena adjusted her glasses. “It’s an opportunity.”
“For…?”
“Bonding,” she said flatly.
Rosalia immediately began writing “Sacred Beach Episode” in her journal.
Later: Beachfront Cabana
Zephyr had just unpacked when Arwen entered. She was wearing a simple blue sundress, which, to her horror, flowed slightly in the wind.
“I brought… your spell maps,” she said, holding them like they were burning.
Zephyr blinked. “Did you draw little diagrams of my footsteps?”
“I WAS CURIOUS,” she snapped, blushing.
Even Later: Hot Spring Cliffside
Zephyr had found a quiet spot, away from the bubbling chaos of his “vacation.” He dipped a toe into the warm water, then sighed.
“Peace…”
SPLOOSH.
Drakynia landed beside him, half-soaked and grinning. “Tag. You're it.”
Zephyr stared. “This is thermal spring water. Do you know how rare this is?”
Drakynia smirked. “So you're saying… it's hot?”
“…Please leave.”
Meanwhile: Deeper Jungle – Forbidden Zone
Rosalia and Selena stumbled across an ancient stone altar. Glowing.
“…Did we just discover a sealed kraken shrine?” Rosalia asked, awe-struck.
Selena sighed. “This is why we can’t have relaxing field trips.”
The altar pulsed ominously.
Later That Night: Campfire Scene
All five of them sat in a circle, watching the stars.
Arwen: “You’re… unusually quiet tonight, Zephyr.”
Zephyr: “I’m mentally preparing for the kraken.”
Everyone stared.
Selena: “You saw it too?”
Zephyr sipped his coffee. “It winked at me.”
