I Was Summoned as the Academy’s Janitor… But I Accidentally Became the Most Overpowered Harem Protagonist?!

Chapter 2: I Saved a Princess with a Mop (Now She Thinks I’m a Legendary Hero)

‎The training arena of Velmara Academy was in chaos.

‎‎Magic beams flew in every direction. Elemental storms raged. A fireball the size of a carriage launched straight at a girl in silver and blue armor, who was currently—

‎—unconscious.

‎The crowd of students and professors watching from the stands gasped.

‎ “That’s Lady Arwen! The crown princess of the Valken Empire!”

‎ “Someone do something!”

‎ “The spell’s too fast! She’s going to—!”

‎THWACK!

‎A mop—yes, a plain wooden mop—struck the fireball head-on.

‎Instead of being vaporized… the fireball froze midair like time had stopped, then crumbled into harmless sparks.

‎Everyone stared in stunned silence.

‎And standing there—nonchalantly holding the mop like a sword—was a boy in janitor overalls with rolled-up sleeves and a face sculpted by the gods.

‎“…What,” Zephyr said flatly, “did I just walk into?”

‎‎He had been on his way to clean the potion lab. Took a shortcut. Saw the fireball. Reacted.

‎That was all.

‎Ten Minutes Later…

‎Infirmary. Soft white sheets. Blinking awake.

‎“…Where… am I…?” the princess whispered.

‎Lady Arwen Valenhardt, First Daughter of the Empire, rumored ice queen, top of her class in both combat and etiquette, opened her eyes—

‎—and saw a mop leaning against the wall.

‎And next to it… Him.

‎That man. That beautiful man.

‎ “You’re awake,” Zephyr said. “Good. You took a hit. Probably a misfire. Don’t sue the school.”

‎Arwen’s cheeks flushed a bright crimson.

‎“W-Who are you…?”

‎Zephyr pointed to his chest. His badge read:

‎ “Academy Janitor – Zephyr Arclight.”

‎“…A janitor?” she whispered. Her voice trembled.

‎ “No. That must be a cover. He’s clearly a hidden agent of the royal guard… or a guardian spirit in disguise…!”

‎Her heart skipped a beat.

‎ “He saved me… with a mop… and didn’t even ask for thanks.”

‎She sat up, clutching the sheets.

‎ “Sir Zephyr…!”

‎“…Please don’t call me that.”

‎“I have wronged you,” she said, getting out of bed and kneeling on the floor in one smooth, knightly motion. “As Crown Princess of Valken, I, Arwen Valenhardt, hereby pledge myself to your service!”

‎“…Please stop.”

‎“I’ll be your sword, your shield, your—”

‎“…I just clean toilets.”

‎“Your humility knows no bounds…!”

‎Zephyr sighed and looked up at the ceiling. This is going to be a long semester.

‎Meanwhile, Outside the Infirmary…

‎A group of students had gathered.

‎“Did you hear? He caught a fireball with a mop.”

‎“They say the princess proposed to him on the spot!”

‎“I saw him fix a magical chandelier just by glaring at it.”

‎Thus began the legend of The Janitor Who Defied the World.

‎And Zephyr?

‎He just wanted to drink his matcha latte in peace.
