Chapter 957: Chapter 656: Sudden Chaos (Two chapters combined)_2
“Fuck! Where are they?!”
Before Daybreak Organization had a chance to react, it was already doomed to a futile effort.
However, that wasn’t Captain Qin Yuan’s entire plan. In the seconds that the enemy was caught off guard, the soldiers of the 2nd Platoon of the Logistics Company who were ambushed behind Qin Yuan had long been prepared for combat.
They suddenly appeared from the woods on both sides of the road, firearms in hand without a moment’s pause, unleashing a torrent of gunfire towards the Daybreak Organization’s position like a swarm of hornets.
The enemy hadn’t yet reacted when the soldiers guarding the camp gate fell one after another!
You have to understand, even though the logistics company’s platoon didn’t have many people, they were all well-trained soldiers with excellent marksmanship. No one wasted bullets, every shot hit vital points!
The unfortunate soldiers of the Daybreak Organization hadn’t even seen the faces of the logistics company’s soldiers before they fell.
There, seeing the battle start off with a victory brought great joy to Qin Yuan, but he also did not recklessly advance forward.
Qin Yuan knew their mission was essentially complete. As long as they caused a bit of chaos here, they could provide more opportunities for He Chenguang and himself.
“Brothers, make as much noise as you can, the louder the better! We have more than enough ammunition! Just don’t push forward!”
Qin Yuan yelled loudly.
Because they had won the previous engagement with the enemy, they had captured countless guns and ammunition from Daybreak Organization, enough for a soldier to wield two guns without running out.
So there was no need to worry about firepower issues; they just needed to protect themselves and retreat on time.
Naturally, Daybreak Organization’s forces weren’t pushovers. After the initial group suffered losses, the soldiers coming to back them up quickly realized the severity of the situation.
They started to organize their defense in an orderly fashion.
They brought out defense shields, placed them in front of the camp, while the soldiers took cover behind various objects, gradually reducing the effectiveness of the logistics company’s assault.
However, this did not negatively affect the logistics company in any way.
Qin Yuan had made it clear before departing: to kill even one enemy was profit. Their main objective was just to harass, not setting their expectations too high on killing the enemy. Besides, they had almost inexhaustible ammunition; they needed to unload it or else they wouldn’t be able to carry it all back.
“How does it feel? Satisfying?”
Qin Yuan shouted amid the chaotic battle.
“Thrilling!”
“It’s been a long time since we’ve had such an exhilarating battle!”
The soldiers yelled back excitedly.
The battle continued. Given the wide area of the battlefield and plenty of hiding places, the soldiers of the logistics company, concealed in various trenches and alleys, made it difficult for the enemy to mount an effective counterattack, keeping them suppressed and unable to break free.
About ten minutes into the battle, noticing that the soldiers’ anger had mostly been vented and the enemy’s reinforcements were slowly arriving, Qin Yuan knew it was time for a successful retreat.
“Brothers, let’s end the fight here. I know many of you haven’t had enough, but our mission is complete. To avoid unnecessary losses, we must retreat immediately!”
Qin Yuan waved his hand and ordered the retreat.
“Yes!”
Although many from the logistics company hadn’t had their fill of combat, hadn’t killed enough, and some were even on a roll, upon hearing Qin Yuan’s command, they promptly ceased their actions and quickly gathered their gear to return to their ranks.
“A few brothers come and cover our rear! Buy time for everyone else to retreat!”
Seeing the troops commencing their withdrawal, Qin Yuan went to the rear of the formation, ready to take on a sniper task to prevent enemy pursuit.
Upon hearing Qin Yuan’s words, more soldiers turned back and began to join Qin Yuan’s sniper team, quickly increasing in number.
“I’ll do it!”
“I’ll cover the withdrawal for the main forces! You guys move fast!”
“Me too! My marksmanship is precise! I’m perfect for this task!”
Ironically, the two hundred or so people who were initially supposed to retreat turned back again because of Qin Yuan, slowly returning to the vanguard.
Qin Yuan showed a helpless expression on his face, but he knew that now was not the time to dwell on such matters and immediately said:
“I know what you’re thinking, but now you must retreat safely for me! Otherwise, our action this time will have been in vain!”
He finished speaking and pushed away the soldiers following him before they could react.
Then he shouted loudly:
“Bring me a rocket launcher!”
Upon hearing this, everyone was shocked.
Captain Qin Yuan was planning something big this time!
The others understood Qin Yuan’s intent—there was no time for hesitation or shock.
They immediately brought over the rocket launcher specially procured for this mission.
Without hesitation, Qin Yuan took the rocket launcher, aimed briefly in the direction of Daybreak Organization.
“You all get moving!”
Qin Yuan issued his final command.
Then, pressing the trigger, a thunderous explosion erupted before Qin Yuan, engulfing the area in towering flames.
The ground was instantly shrouded in intense, thick smoke.
Qin Yuan was pushed back several meters by the severe recoil, falling to the ground, but fortunately, he wasn’t injured, just shaken by the powerful force.
Struggling to his feet, he immediately turned and started moving back.
“Captain, are you alright?!”
A person nearby hurried over to ask.
“I’m fine. Now’s our chance to leave, everyone get back to the 2nd platoon of the logistics company!”
Qin Yuan spoke in a grave tone.
“Yes!”
Filled with moved emotions, everyone quickly followed Qin Yuan, racing back the way they came.
Qin Yuan knew that even though the firepower they had just unleashed was ferocious and had indeed suppressed the enemy, they were up against the Daybreak Organization, which had superior soldiers and weaponry.
Once the enemies regrouped, they would definitely pursue the 2nd platoon of the logistics company. If they didn’t put enough distance between themselves and the enemy, the safety of the soldiers in the 2nd platoon could be compromised.
After all, the enemy had vehicles, which were much more efficient than traveling on foot.
They had only been lucky before because the terrain was treacherous, which had prevented the enemy from finding them.
Qin Yuan led the way, running swiftly at the front, while those behind had no choice but to follow at their fastest pace, gasping for air.
“Captain! Didn’t we just land a heavy blow on the enemy? Why does it seem like we’re the ones who’ve been defeated?”
The soldiers, breathless, asked from behind.
“We only succeeded in a sneak attack! In a direct fight, we can’t possibly be their match! Besides, we’ve already achieved our objective; there’s no need to get entangled with them any further.”
Qin Yuan said earnestly.
“Objective? Wasn’t our goal to defeat them?”
Qin Yuan smiled.
“That is the main goal. But we must wait until the secondary objective is complete.”
“Secondary objective? What is it?”
A soldier asked, puzzled.
“You’ll know later.”
Qin Yuan said with a smile, keeping them in suspense.
Meanwhile, at Green Snake’s troop location.
Green Snake and his men were in the woods near a vital route used by the Daybreak Organization for transporting military supplies, and Green Snake himself was sitting on the ground,
peering intently at the road ahead through binoculars.
On the road were fresh car tire tracks, evidence that a shipment had recently been delivered.
The next delivery would take about half a day.
Green Snake’s troops had also heard the intense gunfire from the battlefield a moment ago. He knew that Qin Yuan’s operation had begun, and a wave of pleasure washed over him.
They were just waiting for the operation to conclude and for Qin Yuan’s notification.
True to form, Qin Yuan didn’t make him wait long, soon coming through on the walkie-talkie.
“We’ve handled things on our end. It’s your turn now.”
Qin Yuan’s deep voice came through.
“I’ve been waiting for those words for a long time.”
Green Snake said with a laugh.
After that, he hung up the phone.
“Brothers, do you know what’s happening up ahead?”
Green Snake asked with a smile.
“We know! Captain Qin Yuan’s team has begun their assault, right?!”
A soldier beside him responded.
“Exactly! They have already created adequate chaos at the front!”
“This also means that it’s our time to take the stage!”
A smile slowly spread across Green Snake’s face.
What do you think?
