Chapter 137
Like a mountain hurtling forward, the relentless gravity beams bombarded David, casting him into space. His own gravity field proved futile against the onslaught.
"A weapon capable of terraforming planets indeed.
With my current ability to manipulate gravity, it's still too strenuous to withstand the World Engine's gravitational beam."
Propelled thousands of miles from the moon, David clutched his chest, feeling slight internal injuries from the intense pressure, but his robust constitution had already begun to heal as he rapidly approached the moon.
"Kal-El, hand over the Codex, or you're next!"
Boom!
As Clark charged forward in a fury, Zod's feet shattered the ground as he swung his fist to meet him. The two exchanged blows, each sent reeling backward.
Zod rose, touching his cheekbone which throbbed with a dull pain. He wasn't sure if it was his imagination, but the son of Joe El's strength seemed to have surged.
Seeing a streak of purple light rapidly returning in the sky, Clark breathed a sigh of relief. His anger unabated, he charged at Zod once more.
"I don't know what Codex you're talking about, but you've indeed angered me, Zod!"
"You'll understand soon!"
Seeing David, hands glowing with green light, flying back seemingly unharmed, a sense of dread sank in Zod's heart.
"World Engine, target me and fire the gravity beam!"
In an urgent moment, he made a decisive shout.
If David got close to him, his chance to rebuild Krypton would surely fail.
"The Codex is far more important than the World Engine.
Only with the Codex can Krypton be rebuilt!"
The gravity beam tore through the sky, striking with force. Zod gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing with ferocity as he braced for impact, blasted thousands of miles away, beneath the sun.
His power helmet had been shattered by Clark, and now fully exposed to the yellow sun, his abilities began to awaken.
Hiss!
Zod's eyes lit up with a red glow, uncontrollably sweeping through space, but in just a few seconds, he learned to control it.
"I feel it, this is easier than I thought!"
After the destruction of Krypton, fearing strong enemies while searching the cosmos for surviving kin, Zod and his people only used filtered yellow sunlight to strengthen their bodies. Other uncontrollable powers were not needed for the time being, to avoid any mishaps.
Born to be a general, Zod had been trained all his life, mastering his body and senses. It took only a few seconds for him to familiarize himself with the newly emerged powers: super vision, super hearing, heat vision, and the bio-electric field that allowed him to fly, leaving the World Engine behind as he accelerated towards Earth.
"Kal-El, whether you know where the Codex is or not, I will find it!"
What do you think?
