Chapter 47 - 47 047 Witch Sisters
Chapter 47: 047 Witch Sisters Chapter 47: 047 Witch Sisters The downpour eventually ceased.
With the last drop of rain drifting down, the entire city was shrouded in mist, everything was drenched.
In a dreary corner shielded by a damaged streetlight and a large tree, a figure stumbled, gasping for breath with her back against the tree trunk.
Chen Shuyun shook her somewhat dizzy head and quickly looked down at the curtain canvas wrapped in a plastic bag.
She had clutched it so cautiously, not daring to relax her grip for even a moment.
She had finally escaped from the house of the Dark Sorcerer who mastered the Sealing Skill, but whether she could free her sister from the painting was still an unknown.
Yet she could feel that this was the best outcome she could fight for in front of that Dark Sorcerer.
Although…
It seemed that it was the Sorcerer who allowed her to leave.
“Phew~”
She exhaled softly, looking down at the wound on her foot, which at last stopped bleeding.
The Witch-hunting Knights she encountered today while searching for her sister were simply too terrifying.
But it was all worth it.
Casting spells without a medium exhausted her mind and spirit greatly, and she was at the point of utter exhaustion. She looked up at the skyline of the city’s towering buildings, realizing she was still several kilometers away from home.
Chen Shuyun hesitated for a moment but eventually raised her hand and waved gently.
Soon, a speeding vehicle on the city street slowed down and came to a stop beside her.
The driver was a middle-aged woman, wearing a look of worry and dissatisfaction which indicated that life had not been kind to her.
Chen Shuyun pursed her lips and softly said, “Thank you.”
The woman seemed not to hear as she drove off directly towards Chen Shuyun’s home after picking her up.
The journey of several kilometers was quickly completed, and as the car came to a gentle stop, Chen Shuyun turned to the woman who seemed not to notice her, “Thanks, but I don’t have any fare to give you, so I’ll just help you dispel some bad luck.”
As she said this, she gently lifted her hand and waved it lightly in front of the woman.
There were no special effects visible to the naked eye, but the woman’s expression visibly relaxed.
The woman was in a daze for a while, blinking in confusion as she looked around the surroundings and the empty car interior, and listened to the chirp of insects outside after the rain, not knowing why, but she suddenly felt much more relaxed.
“Sigh~” She exhaled softly, “Children have their own fortune, let it be… let it be…”
With that, she started the car again and slowly drove away from the unfamiliar street.
Outside on the street, Chen Shuyun watched the car drive off, then turned and headed toward the house behind her.
This area belonged to the old district, with many three-and-a-half-story houses with courtyards. As the tourism industry developed, many of these local courtyards were renovated and rented out, and Chen Shuyun had rented one here.
Back at home, she anxiously wiped her wet hands on a towel and carefully took the curtain out of the sealed bag.
Thankfully, it wasn’t wet from the rain.
She retrieved some clips from the drawer, clipped the curtain onto the projection screen in front of the TV wall, and used the remote control to raise the screen.
Soon, the portrait of the black cat sealing her sister was fully revealed.
“Sister?”
Chen Shuyun called out softly, but, unfortunately, the black cat simply stared back at her, motionless.
“Sister~~~”
Her voice was filled with sorrow as she called again, then sat down helplessly on the floor, staring blankly at the black cat portrait on the curtain fabric.
What to do…
“It’s all my fault, I should have broken free from my sister’s suppressive witchcraft in the wardrobe and threatened that Dark Sorcerer to release you before I completely turned into a Sorcerer Zombie.”
“Sister, it’s my incompetence, I can’t save you, wuwuwu, sister, please come out.”
Tears streamed down her face.
Just then, a figure in a bathrobe pushed open the bathroom door and slowly emerged, tilting her head while drying her hair with a towel.
She looked surprised when she saw her, “Shu Yun, what happened to you?”
“Sister!!!” Chen Shuyun stared at her in disbelief, then back at the black cat portrait, finally screaming, “Chen Xinmi, you weren’t sealed?”
“What seal?” Her sister Chen Xinmi looked puzzled.
“The… the…” Chen Shuyun incredulously looked at her sister, then again at the black cat on the curtain, “I thought you were sealed inside the painting!”
Chen Xinmi turned her head to look at the curtain, her long phoenix eyes narrowing slightly, “This painting…”
“I don’t like cats!” she finally concluded.
Cats, as creatures, are active by nature, lack method in their actions, and are irrational. They prefer to play with their prey rather than killing it decisively. She really didn’t like them at all.
“No! Didn’t you feel as though you were sealed into this painting?” Chen Shuyun suddenly got up, rushed to her sister’s side with hurried steps, and incredulously pinched her sister’s arm, “It’s… it’s real.”
She giggled foolishly with joy and suddenly opened her arms to hug her sister, “I’m so relieved, I thought something had happened to you.”
But Chen Xinmi pushed her away with a look of disgust, “I just took a bath, you’re all wet, don’t touch me.”
“Hehehe…” Chen Shuyun laughed foolishly as she looked at her sister, “Where have you been these days? I’ve been so worried.”
Chen Xinmi’s expression flickered, but she did not answer her question, instead turning to look at the painting of the black cat on the curtain.
She gently took out a ladies’ cigarette from the pocket of her bathrobe, tapped it, pulled one out, put it in her mouth, and lit it, “Do you think running a company is easy? As your sister, I obviously have a lot of things to keep me busy.”
Not waiting for her sister to ask again, Chen Xinmi looked at the painting of the black cat and raised her eyebrows, “Though now that you mention it, looking at it is like looking in a mirror.”
“Where is it from?”
Chen Shuyun opened her mouth, then her face filled with shame, “I think I’ve misunderstood someone. He kept explaining…”
And moreover!
Every time she remembered what she had done at Lin An’s house, wasn’t it because she had already over-exerted her magical abilities to the point of mental exhaustion, her medium couldn’t hold up and shattered, which ultimately caused her failure to cast spells?
And not because the other party had used some so-called Sealing Skill?
Oh no~~~~~!
If that’s how it was!
Chen Shuyun choked up. She suspected that the way she had rambled in front of Lin An, threatening him with spells while being unable to sustain them, and then collapsing from her own torment, might make her seem like a lunatic.
And her attempted attack on Lin An…
Ahhh!
“Tsk tsk tsk…” Chen Xinmi rubbed her little head, “Don’t always look for reasons within yourself when you encounter a problem.”
Chen Shuyun pouted, “That’s better than you always thinking it’s someone else’s fault when something happens.”
She always had endless things to say in front of her sister, chattering about how she had started looking for her since feeling her presence that afternoon, and finally finding her at a Wizard’s home.
Chen Shuyun looked down at the spot on her wrist where she normally wore a jade bracelet, speaking awkwardly with a touch of embarrassment, “He probably thinks I’m a lunatic, I… I barged into his house, bullied the weak, stole his hard-created work, and even threatened to kill him, I… I’m really too bad!”
Chen Xinmi said nothing, just exhaled a puff of smoke lightly, the wine-red nail tapping against the cigarette, but alas, the smoke that filled the air couldn’t give her much of a hint.
Divination, such a troublesome form of witchcraft, was really not her forte.
“I’ve told you before, don’t use witchcraft. If you can’t control your witchcraft, it will control you.”
“You’ll end up being led into a pit!”
“However, you just mentioned…” Chen Xinmi’s lips curled up slightly, “He is infatuated with my beauty, so when he painted this cat, it took on my charm?”
Chen Shuyun suddenly became alert, her eyes wide as she looked at Chen Xinmi, “What are you going to do?”
“To think a painting of a cat could have my essence…” Chen Xinmi turned back and smiled at her, the hand holding the slender cigarette shaking slightly toward the curtain, “I’m kinda curious about this person who can create such a painting.”
“No way!” Chen Shuyun covered her mouth with a fierce glare, thought for a moment, then let go, “Chen Xinmi, are you sick? Like before, when someone sent me to deliver a love letter to you, you went and secretly broke his leg!”
She rolled her eyes with some irritation, “Those who like you are cursed with terrible luck, you send them all to the hospital every time, and I have to sneak Shasha with me to treat them!”
Chen Xinmi shrugged her shoulders, “I have to break their fantasies, I’m a woman they’ll never have.”
Seeing Chen Shuyun’s eyes roll skyward, her tone softened somewhat, “This time it’s different, you also know that my arch-nemesis’s best magical ability is ‘curse’. If she gets her hands on such a painting, you’ll lose your sister forever…”
That made sense.
Chen Shuyun hesitated, “You have to promise me first, no creating trouble for others.”
“Okay~” Chen Xinmi said airily.
Suddenly, Chen Shuyun’s eyes widened at her, “You promise me! It’s okay to know who it is, but you can’t go looking for him! Whatever you want to do, tell me, I will deal with it!”
“Alright, alright! I won’t create trouble for him, I promise,” Chen Xinmi pursed her lips, her eyes on her sister’s raised hand, gently reaching out to hold it.
Instantly, a golden rope of light twined around their hands and vanished in a flash, signifying that the contract had been made.
Then, feeling the information transmitted from her sister’s palm, Chen Xinmi took the cigarette from her mouth and slowly exhaled the smoke into the air.
The more smoke she blew out, the more it swirled in midair, slowly outlining a figure.
“Is it him?” Chen Xinmi was surprised, the corners of her mouth curved just slightly, “Interesting~”
What do you think?
