Chapter 996 - 996 997 Corpse Shaman _1
Chapter 996: Chapter 997: Corpse Shaman _1 Chapter 996: Chapter 997: Corpse Shaman _1 The hall of the Dragon’s Lair was void of the Black Dragon; instead, there was a humanoid creature wearing a black robe, its face obscured within the hood. In its right hand, it grasped a bone staff resembling a spine, while from the shadow of its hood, two crimson eyes glinted.
“Who exactly are you?” Song Jian asked loudly.
“Weren’t you looking for the Black Demon King? I am the Black Demon King here,” the humanoid creature across from Song Jian said, its body wreathing with the thick aura of the undead. This aura had condensed into something tangible and kept shifting, revealing faces of tormented, struggling souls emitting silent roars at Song Jian from around its body.
“Black Demon King?” Song Jian was taken aback and couldn’t help but ask, “Isn’t the Black Demon King a Black Dragon? How could it be you?”
“Black Dragon, hehehe, are you referring to this?” With a wave of its right hand, the creature revealed a massive dragon’s head from above the hall of the lair. It was the corpse of a colossal Black Dragon that appeared before Song Jian. Instead of the Dark Gold color of its vertical pupils, they now gleamed with a crimson light. The flesh had dried up, the skin and dragon scales shone with a rust-like dark red color, and in many places, it had rotted away, exposing chilling white bones underneath.
“Bone Dragon…” A sinking feeling emerged in Song Jian’s heart. Previously, in the second-tier City of the Undead, the lord of the undead had dreamed of creating a Bone Dragon, but it had failed under Song Jian’s assault, and no Bone Dragon existed even after the war ended.
But now, a massive Bone Dragon had materialized before Song Jian, crafted from a formidable, adult Black Dragon as a template.
“An adult Black Dragon is a seventh-tier soldier type. Although transformed into a Bone Dragon, it loses its consciousness and self-awareness, and the Dragon Clan’s magic becomes unusable. However, the physical strength has ascended a tier higher. Even more crucial is that what would be fatal weaknesses for living beings, like the heart and the head, are not weaknesses at all for a Bone Dragon,” Song Jian thought to himself.
Given the choice between an adult Black Dragon and a Bone Dragon as an enemy, Song Jian would opt for an adult Black Dragon. While the Bone Dragon ranks lowest among seventh-tier soldiers, its combat power is still among the top three.
“You killed the Black Dragon here and then turned it into a Bone Dragon?” Song Jian exclaimed in surprise.
“Hehe, speaking of which, I should thank you for the success in creating such a Bone Dragon. If you hadn’t destroyed the second-tier undead fortress, allowing a juvenile Bone Dragon to escape to me, I’m afraid I wouldn’t have managed to figure out how to create a Bone Dragon…” The Black Demon King let out a pleased cackle.
As it spoke, a young dragon darted out, standing beside the Black Demon King. This juvenile Bone Dragon was the one that had escaped from the City of the Undead, hidden under the thick foundation until Song Jian had left before burrowing up from the ground.
Originally born in this Dragon’s Lair, it regained its freedom after the undead lich died and based on fragmented memories, it returned to the Dragon’s Lair.
However, it was captured by another lich that had just taken over this place. Through a pact, it became the servant of the lich, who also, using its body, figured out how to create a Bone Dragon.
“It’s a pity. If you had destroyed that City of the Undead earlier, then I would have had two Bone Dragons, instead of how it is now, with only one and the other but a half-finished product.” The lich removed its hood to reveal a skull-like head.
Boom, boom~
After a series of loud noises, the skeleton of a giant dragon slowly emerged from the dark. The bones were gray, devoid of any flesh, and on its right leg bone, a clear crack could be seen.
“This is the Black Demon King those Flower Elves spoke of, an aging Black Dragon. I’ve studied countless methods to create a dragon corpse, but none were successful, causing too much damage to this dragon’s corpse. In the end, I could only make a Bone Dragon, which is such a pity…” The necromancer shook his head, heaving a sigh.
At this moment, the necromancer appeared as though he had acquired a new toy, unable to resist the urge to show off to others. He spoke of pity, but his demeanor was one of smug satisfaction. He stared at Song Jian’s face, eager to see a look of terror and despair.
However, his expectations were quickly dashed. Song Jian’s face remained expressionless, seemingly unperturbed.
The Bone Dragon was but a sixth-tier warrior. Neither its magic nor its physical strength could compare to that of a mature member of the Dragon Clan. Its only redeeming features were inheriting the Dragon Clan’s hardy bones and Dragon Might, providing certain enhancements to other creatures. Moreover, it could spit Dragon Breath, which was now composed entirely of undead energy, lacking the scalding heat and burning effects of true Dragon Breath. Instead, it possessed a potent corrosive effect, though less powerful than real Dragon Breath.
“A sixth-tier Bone Dragon and a seventh-tier undead dragon, are these all the cards you hold?” Song Jian said coldly.
“There is also me, the master’s most loyal servant, Kalu, hehehe~” The soul of the Flower Elf by Song Jian’s side flashed suddenly, appearing beside the necromancer, returning to its original form – a dark gray shadowy creature.
“I’ve had my suspicions about you, but since I needed you to lead the way, I didn’t expose you…” Song Jian said indifferently, staring at the phantom that floated up and down in the air.
“Human, you’re at a dead end. Why not surrender to me? Let me turn you into an immortal undead creature, become an undead hero. Isn’t that better?” The necromancer cackled.
Crack, crack~
Behind Song Jian, a large group of undead warriors appeared, blocking the passageway completely. These evolved from Skeleton Soldiers, comparably as strong as second-tier troops, and were the preferred cannon fodder of undead heroes.
“You are the most foolish human hero I’ve ever seen, daring to come to the Dragon Nest alone. Even without me, your fate wouldn’t be any better. Now, my patience is limited. You have three seconds to consider my previous proposal…” The necromancer said coldly, the magic staff in his hand beginning to emit a gray glow.
“If you agree to become one of my undead heroes, I might consider sparing your life!” Song Jian, with a calm expression, said, “But I believe unless I dismantle these two big toys of yours, you won’t consider my suggestion. So, out of kindness, I’ll ask you again after I have taken care of your two big playthings.”
What do you think?
