Chapter 208
"Is something wrong?" asked Ivetta.
"Nothing at all," Rianel replied calmly.
Ivetta paused for a moment to steady her breath, then took hold of Rianel’s hand. His hand was still excessively warm.
‘Even through his gloves, I can feel the heat. It must feel scorching to touch his bare hand.’
A useless curiosity sparked within her.
When Rianel glanced at her briefly, Ivetta quickly climbed into the carriage, nearly tripping in her haste. She managed to steady herself and sat down with difficulty.
Rianel turned to glance behind them once more before stepping into the carriage. Soon after, the carriage began to move.
Rianel stared out the window, his face expressionless.
‘They’ve been following us since we left Halo Manor.’
The unidentified presence hadn’t left their trail since the carriage departed from the manor. Since no killing intent was apparent, their purpose seemed to be protection.
Judging by how persistently they followed, it appeared their charge was Ivetta.
‘Penelope, perhaps?’
Rianel unconsciously thought of Karla, his malicious stepmother, who might well seek to harm Ivetta. Penelope must have anticipated this and assigned a knight to guard Ivetta.
‘She cherishes this woman more than I thought.’
Rianel looked at Ivetta with newfound curiosity.
Red hair, green eyes—a striking appearance.
At first, she hadn’t caught his attention. But gradually, she piqued his interest. Perhaps it was simply because Penelope valued her so much.
Noticing Rianel’s steady gaze, Ivetta couldn’t hold back anymore and spoke up.
"Is there something you wish to say to me?"
What do you think?
