I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game

Chapter 89 89 Estrangement

She had never smiled like that in front of herself.

Zong Fang adjusted his breathing, reached out to grasp the doorknob but did not open the door. For a long time, his hand slowly let go of the doorknob and dropped again.

He was afraid of seeing something he didn't want to see, and he was also afraid that his jealousy would make him do something that could hurt their relationship.

Zong Fang suppressed the wild thoughts in his heart and took a few steps back until his back touched the cold wall. The man leaned against the wall, tilted his head back and closed his eyes in frustration, but he could still clearly hear the conversation in the room. He just stood there in the empty hallway, not entering.

In the VIP room, Qiao Suisui was chatting with interest, unaware of the movement at the door, but Lanze slightly turned his head at the first moment, his spiritual power spreading out like a wave towards the door. Sensing that Zong Fang was outside, he withdrew it.

"Lanze, what's wrong?"

The young man smiled nonchalantly and said, "I was thinking you might be thirsty."

"You don't mention it, but now you say it, wait a moment, I'll ask someone to get us a couple of cups."

Qiao Suisui said as she started to head towards the door, but Lanze grabbed her wrist.

"Suisui, is he... good to you?"

"Huh? You mean Zong Fang?"

She didn't know why Lanze would suddenly bring this up, but in front of Lanze, Qiao Suisui didn't have the defenses she had around others. So, without thinking much, she said, "Zong Fang is very good to me now."

Lanze's smile stiffened for a moment, but he maintained it, then asked, "Then, will you stay by his side forever?"

This time Qiao Suisui hesitated.

It was a while before she said, "No."

Because she always had to return to her own world, and the time she could stay here was temporarily up to her. Whether it was Zong Fang, Ruka, Leberli, she couldn't stay with them forever, which was also why she didn't want to pair with any male in this world. She thought pairing was very formal, it really meant recognition... What would happen to the person left behind if one day she left?

Lanze casually 'looked' towards the door and then smiled, saying, "Thirsty, right? I'll get you water."

He opened the door, saw no one in the hallway, and under the opposite wall, there lay a pair of flat shoes. Lanze went out, closed the door, then picked up the shoes and placed them in a flowerpot in the corner, and finally called a servant to get a cup of warm water before returning to the VIP room.

The two of them talked for a while, and it was not early anymore, so Lanze offered to take Qiao Suisui back.

"No need to bother, I came with Zong Fang. I'll go find him."

"Okay." Lanze's eyes drooped, and his smile faded a bit. He didn't say much else.

When Qiao Suisui went downstairs, she saw that the banquet was still not over, and there were still many people chatting warmly. She looked around the hall and didn't see Zong Fang, so she randomly grabbed a servant to ask.

"Dr. Zong Fang? Someone just saw that he has already left."

Qiao Suisui thought she had heard wrong, "Left alone?"

"It seems so, he just walked away without saying anything, someone came to toast him and he grabbed that person by the neck and threw them on the ground. That person was quite offended and says they're going to handle him."

Upon hearing this, Qiao Suisui frowned, wanting to go find him, but was gently pulled back by Lanze at her side.

"He is angry now, won't it be a problem if you go over?"

"He shouldn't do anything to me..." Qiao Suisui suddenly remembered times when Zong Fang was angry before, either forcing her to stay in bed or locking her up, making her hesitate a bit.

Lanze spoke again, "How about this, Suisui? I'll go find him for you. You must be tired today. Why not go back and wait for him? Maybe he's already there."

She thought about it and it made sense to her. She gave Lanze a somewhat apologetic smile, "To trouble you with this kind of thing... Especially after how he treated you last time...."

Lanze shook his head with a wry smile and pinched her nose tip, saying, "Speaking so formally with me will make me sad, Suisui."

"Plus, I can understand the situation last time. He couldn't control his emotions. I don't think he meant it."

Qiao Suisui felt that his words were both right and wrong, and something felt off, but she couldn't pinpoint what it was. Seeing Lanze's genuine smile, she convinced herself that she was overthinking. So, she boarded Lanze's Flying Ship, letting the pilot take her back to Soter.

The back of the venue was a deserted terrace, and at that moment, the noise inside and the quiet outside were in stark contrast. Zong Fang walked to the lounge chair on the terrace, looked at it expressionlessly for a while, and then kicked it over with his foot.

His jacket was nowhere in sight, and at that time, his shirt sleeves were casually rolled up, and his collar open. The close-fit cut outlined his chest line very clearly, showing a vaguely sensual appeal under the dim light.

The man ran his fingers through his hair in annoyance, feeling a stifling sensation stuck in his chest, neither rising nor falling.

Footsteps, neither hurried nor slow, came from behind. Zong Fang coldly turned around, seeing a young man with dark blue short hair approaching from the darkness.

"You think I really don't dare to kill you?"

Lanze's hollow eyes showed a hint of mockery, "If you lay a hand on me, it's over between you and her."

Zong Fang clenched his back teeth and fists, his eyes filled with sharp murderous intent.

He was right, Zong Fang was very aware that Qiao Suisui's previous reluctance to accept him was also due to the violent side of his personality that made her feel insecure. Now that their relationship was just beginning to warm up, Lanze's appearance was indeed ill-timed.

Zong Fang gave a cold laugh and said, "You think I'd fall for such petty schemes behind my back? You want to wedge yourself in, didn't you first measure your strength? What can you offer her? Does she need you? It's merely a verbal engagement, she doesn't think of you that way."

Faced with Zong Fang's imposing interrogation, Lanze smiled slightly, and with just one sentence, Zong Fang's pupils contracted sharply, making his expression extremely ugly.

-

Soter.

Qiao Suisui had only lit a soft-floor lamp, and sitting at the dining table without changing her clothes, she waited for Zong Fang to come home. Eventually, feeling a bit sore, she curled up on the sofa, her hair spread out on it, some even trailing on the floor, completely unaware of it as she felt drowsy and tired.

Finally, after what felt like ages, the sound of the door opening capped off her waiting. Qiao Suisui jumped up from the sofa like a startled rabbit and hurried to the entrance.

"Where have you been? How could you just leave without saying a word?"

Zong Fang, with his head down changing shoes, didn't respond to her. He glanced at her champagne-colored high heels, his eyes turning icy deep.

"Why aren't you asleep yet?"

Seeing his reaction, Qiao Suisui was taken aback, feeling as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over her head.

"Oh, I'll go to sleep right now."

Zong Fang grunted and then walked past her to his studio. After taking a few steps, he stopped, and the two of them stood back to back in the vast house.

"Get some rest early. I have a report to write tonight."

With that, the man entered his studio. It was a long while after the door closed before Qiao Suisui could snap out of her daze, still standing at the entrance.
