Chapter 273 273: Completing the mission
When Eryndor used his eldritch form, he was used to hearing whispers. They were something like -
Emotions are an obstacle to efficient decisions.
The pinnacle of efficiency is pure rationality.
Relationships are a burden which can be exploited.
A stagnant mind is a trapped mind. Keep changing your thought process.
There were many more types of whispers. They largely revolved around efficiency and getting stronger.
Over several times as he used this form, he had gotten rather used to it, both unknowingly being influenced and developing higher mental resistance.
The whispers would suddenly increase in intensity at times, or even get sparse, so when the intensity increased, he didn't pay it much attention.
However, perhaps because he was in his eldritch form which had a sharp perception, he immediately realized that the new whispers were different.
'Kill ten people.'
'Kill hundred people.'
Eryndor exited his eldritch form when he realized what those whispers were and began thinking.
So those are the conditions if I want them to acknowledge me as the master, or even to use them?
Eryndor rolled up the sleeves of his robe and glanced at the small red dot.
He concentrated on it, trying to activate it by pouring Energy of Consciousness in it.
However, as soon as the red dot glowed, the blue and the green orbs which were outside in their physical form also began glowing, before being cut off abruptly.
Huh?
So I'd need to activate all three of them in order to use them?
Eryndor pocketed all the loot, spreading it evenly across his body so that it wouldn't hamper his movement, before getting down the tree.
These orbs are going to be super useful.
Eryndor could almost feel his combat prowess rising as soon as he used the three orbs.
He hadn't forgotten what happened when the three disciples were using it.
Their cultivation arts were stacking in effectiveness!
Cultivation arts didn't usually stack, even if it were two different defensive cultivation arts.
Sure, if it was something like where a shield would manifest, you could hold two different shields from two different defensive cultivation arts in front of each other to manually stack it.
However, if it were a full body armor type of defensive arts, there were high chances that one of the defensive cultivation arts would break down or deactivate. It wouldn't stack.
If I activated all three orbs does that mean I can stack three cultivation arts?
Eryndor thought.
He then wondered.
But there were three people using those three orbs.
Does that mean I'd have to find three people as well? Or can I use all three myself?
There was also one more thing that he was looking forward to.
None of those three people had awakened. It meant that none of them had innate abilities.
Which brought him to his current doubt.
Could it be that everyone possesses a certain amount of Energy of Consciousness?
Is that why they were able to use the Mystical Artifacts despite not possessing innate abilities?
He knew for a fact that those without innate abilities didn't have Energy of Consciousness because it was among the common information taught in the Academy.
However, judging from the current situation, it was clearly untrue. They still possessed a certain amount of Energy of Consciousness.
However, for the Academy to conclude that unawakened people didn't possess Energy of Consciousness meant that whatever amount these people indeed held was so low that it wasn't detected by the Academy.
He didn't blame the Federation of the Academy though. They were a fledgling civilization in terms of research on these five energies, the equipment and theories weren't fully developed yet.
It was normal to make mistakes during the exploration phase.
Basically, it meant that despite having such a low amount of Energy of Consciousness, the three disciples were able to use the three orbs.
Their combined amount of Energy of Consciousness might not be low, but still.
This is where his anticipation came in. The thing he was looking forward to.
If the three orbs could even make do with that paltry amount of Energy of Consciousness, what would happen when he used his massive amount of Energy of Consciousness?
Eryndor could feel a little excitement creeping in.
Would some new function be available to use for me?
Controlling himself, Eryndor headed towards the main building of the Training Camp.
He had processed the corpse of the gray winged woodpecker a while ago, there was no need to stay in the jungle any longer, especially not with how much loot he had on him.
Approximately an hour later, he entered the main building and submitted the beak of the woodpecker.
Just like always, there was only a wait of a few minutes before he got the beak back and a confirmation of his mission completion.
Corresponding rewards were given to him at the counter, which included thirty spirit coins and two Qi Gathering pills.
If these were the rewards for a supposedly 'lucrative' mission, one could only imagine what rewards the other normal missions gave.
It was often the corpses of the beasts which gave greater returns.
Then one might ask, why give the missions?
Because missions were more like a way for the Training Camp to employ the disciples to do their work.
The mission board was also an outlet for the other organizations in the world to hire the disciples.
Of course, in that case, the missions would be first filtered out by the Training Camp based on what was appropriate for the disciples to accept.
These kinds of missions often required the disciples to travel outside the campus of Training Camp and enter the surrounding regions.
Eryndor only planned to do these missions if his information gathering hit a bottleneck in the campus of Training Camp.
After getting the rewards of the mission, he proceeded to sell the body parts, and the crushed eggs, getting forty spirit coins in the process.
Now time to find the black market of Training Camp.
What do you think?
